ParticipantTwo things on this:
1. In a conversation with Dr. Terry Trammell of the former CART Safety Team, he told me that the use of a neck collar in karting is pointless. There are no studies proving what the neck collar does, nor is there a standard that the MFG’s use to produce neck collars other than flame resistance. Different MFG’s use different types of foam to produce these pieces.
2. The CSC’s rule/former rule 2.2.5 in regards to modified neck collars is ridiculous. I watched a former race director spend 1/2 a heat race wanting to black flag someone because he THOUGHT the neck collar was altered as he watched the race. Luckily for the competitor someone else was able to point out that it was the drivers suit collar that was un attached and was flapping. How lame would it of been to take the competitor off the track on an assumption. The racing is what is important. Lets focus on that!
I am a supporter of dropping the neck collar rule for all Senior classes. Keep Juniors and youngsters in all the equipment. The perception of safety with the younger ones and their parents should always be paramount as new families join the sport.

ParticipantKT-100 Superbox? KT-100 open pipe? What class are you talking about? Also, are you running in conjunction with another series?

ParticipantI never realized the date was so close to the CSC opener.
That makes it tough on the local contingent. How about a 24 utilizing the rental karts from IMI, GJMS, TTAC, and Action? The tracks can make $$ renting their stuff, The racers get a very unique opportunity to race, and we all have fun not killing your race equipment less than a week before the first state championship race.Or, we do a 12 hr during the 12 hrs of Sebring in the end of March?
I think Jim’s Idea of a 24 is great. I hope to get a ride for it, or whatever enduro we have here in Colorado.

ParticipantUnfortunately like everything else, I would assume a offset chassis is the call these days. Unlike the days of having one kart for dirt, sprint and long tracks.
Speedway karting has morphed into briggs, full body, “door slammer” type racing
(not my thing). The speedway karting I enjoyed was open-wheeled, two-stroke bliss! Although Brad’s 4-stroke TaG engines would be a blast. I would be interested in doing a 2-stroke class if one was offered. It would be cool to have some classes locally that resembled what guys are racing at the Tulsa Shootout (big kart race prior to the Chilli Bowl)Or maybe I’m just having winter time dreams.

ParticipantI’ve raced alot of different karts over the years and enjoyed all of them. Speedway karting was awesome. Why isn’t anyone doing something @ IMI? I see they race micro’s and other things there.@Rick Schmidt wrote:
Great pic Brian!
Looks like a hoot with those tires out there exposed. Hey, where are your feet?
Rick
You really had to be precise when throwing it in under someone. My right foot down, left foot….. who cares!

#16 is my family number. Grandpa and Great uncle were pretty successful running that number Waaaaay back when in sprint, midget, and championship cars. Welcome to karting. Sounds like you got a great deal and the money is going to a great cause. That is the true spirit of this sport/hobby/life that has kept me addicted for over 24 years or so.

Participantnothing I would post at this time. E-mail me and I’ll send you a pic via e-mail. It is masked, to do the face mask portion. It should be finished off soon.
The same goes for Sam Urban and Jim Keeslings lids. In process, and will complete very soon!
Thanks.

ParticipantMy best lap times drop a second every year I get older! keep it up Rick, pay backs are a ????
I often contemplate racing again. I noticed my aggression level on C-470 has been real bad since leaving Junction. I need to race something, someday, and soon.
I don’t think Mike will be kicking my butt anyday soon. I don’t think I’ll ever get beat by someone who gets arm pumped on the pace lap. (True story) :joker
What type of kart/engine package will Mike be selling this July?BR
