ParticipantRich, The problems we have in Colorado are ones that everyone in the country would like to have. As far as a street race we have been working on a possible street race in downtown Grand Junction or Snowmass. We have a few friends on the City Council (yes friends LOL our fight is with the county) and they are interested in trying to do something like that, Maybe in 2005.

ParticipantJoe, We to are having Rotax Max Regional Qualifiers over here in Grand Junction. Would love to have some of you run the series and we are working on some really great ideas for the winners of the series. Sounds like it is going to be a great year for Colorado karting.

ParticipantBill, we have to run a SKUSA regional the week prior to the Pro Moto per SKUSA. We like the idea of piggy backing the CSC series with the regional and like you said hopefully we will have alot of extra drivers form around the country in the Pro Moto classes. I have always liked to compete against the best to see where I stack up and i think we have some of the best kids in the country.I don’t see it affecting the CSC series at all because none of these guys will be racing but only one race. Both of our CSC events will be SKUSA regionals so if anyone wants SKUSA points they will just need to sign up for them. I also like Graemes Point system idea, that is identical to the National Supercross and Motocross series. 25 pts 1st 22 for 2nd 20 3rd 18 4th etc. I am ok with one drop as long as it is not at our track LOL 😀

ParticipantBill, we would have had the schedule together along time ago but needed to wait for Skusas schedule.

ParticipantJoe, at least you are being open minded, I like that, thankyou. We just need to get all the facts and see if the Mini Max is compatable. The poor 80 Comer had no chance last year, and know one complained, but I don’t want to see the Mini Max do that to the Briggs either, we need a balance. If that can’t happen then we need to do something different.

ParticipantLOL, yes you have to be careful with Darren, the only time he is on the track is when he is crossing it LOL. What I meant is I thought he beat us that bad with a stock ICC it made me feel a little better to know that it had a little work done to it. I am going to get the same package from Paul this year. See you at the races.

ParticipantBill, she was at whatever the kart weight is stock and her weight at 60 lbs. I tlaked to SSC and they thought the Mini Max was about 180 to 185lbs so that would put her around 240. She got down to 1:04’s that day the Briggs times at the CSC event were in the 1:02’S What did you think? she was running with the 50 comers, a Briggs flathead, and a 60 shifter. By the way I heard a few things about Kyles ICC Motor that he ran the last time here. It made me feel a little better but not much, he is sure driving great.

ParticipantGuys, our Rotax Max series will be:
April 25, 2004
June 6, 2004
July 11, 2004
August 8, 2004
September 19, 2004These dates are subject to change but should be pretty solid.
Also the Rotax Max Team Cup will be March 27, 28 at the X-Plex in Las Vegas, we would like to have 3 drivers from our series go and represent us. Check out the info at http://www.rmaxchallenge.comstacey cook
ParticipantAngie, there are 3 over here with 2 more in the next 60 days. I can only commit that 2 will do the CSC series, Sabre’ my daughter and Christian Bird. I think it would be really easy to run them with the Jr 1 and score them seperatley if there is at least 3 or see how they compare and then make the decision weather to include or not include them. Just my thoughts…

ParticipantBrad, I guess I should have called you and JB and asked for your blessing. Regardless the Mini Max will be running at Grand Junction Motor Speedway weather it is a stand alone class or in the Jr 1. If the Briggs drivers choose not to run against it that will be their choice. I for one am willing to sit down with you and JB and go over these issues asap. Let me know. I did not hear back from you on meeting maybe in Vail for a few hours and getting our schedule together. I have know problem on letting the drivers decide on what we run, but think that a seperate Mini Max class could be an option. Would like to hear you thoughts.

ParticipantRod I did ask well in advance. I talked with Doug W about it last fall and he thought it would be ok. In my opnion Doug is one of the most knowledgeble people in Colorado and is responsible for making the CSC series happen. he thought we would need to test it against the Briggs and see how they compared and make adjustments from there. We are not trying to create problems, we just think it is a great package. We have a few more coming in that are spoken for so there is an interest. We also will have 6 Rotax Max regional events that the kids will be able to run. People sure are jumpin to conclusions when they know nothing about them and haven’t even seen them run, Lets get them together with a good driver andsee how they compare then we all have the info to make a logical decision.

ParticipantBrad, I have called you back and left a message. We must be playing phone tag. We have our awards banquet this weekend, could we do it over the phone on a conference call? or maybe we could meet Friday. If you and JB could meet us part way would sure help. As for the Mini Max maybe we have a seperate class that possibly could run with the Jr1 but are scored separately, let me know. Stacey

ParticipantJohn, Most of us over here in Grand Junction are really new to Karting, only a select few have raced more than 2 seasons. I for one drove a kart in Vegas for about 15 minutes and was so hooked that I came back bought ground and built a track(I am not very bright lol) We are very new to karting and do not know much other than we want to have fun!! I to love to watch the kids the most and really enjoy it when they have a great time, we sure did not get into this to make alot of money but to be involved with great people and familys. I think in anything there is always going to be politics and backstabbing but you just brush it off and ignore it. People that do that are not enjoying life enough and have to much time on there hands. Again, we are in this to have a great time and to be fair, the Mini Max jsut makes sense to us and I think we all can come up with a way to make all of them work together. Last year when the Briggs were killing the comer 80’s I did not see any of the Briggs drivers come foward and say this is not fair, but now they feel like the Comer 80 driver and don;t like it. All of these people are great people we all just don’t agree, not a big deal unless we make it one.

ParticipantWOW, Did I open a can of worms or what. lol The reason that we went to the Mini Max is :
1- we are a dealer.
2- we really like the Rotax concept and the kids really like this kart with electric start and low maintenence.
3- You can buy a motor package run it with the restrictors until they are old enough to move to Rotax Jr. then they just take out the restrictors put the motor in a bigger chassis. Then when they are old enough for the Rotax Senior just change the cylinder and away you go. So that means you could technicaly run that motor for the rest of your karting life. This kart just made sense to us and we intend to promote it fully. We do however want to keep things fair and fun for all, but are not really sure what that takes. We saw the Briggs kids Kill all the Comer 80’s last year and no one complained so what do we as a group need to do to make it fair for everyone? Ban the Mini Max? I disagree,I think there are other solutions but we need to all work together to come up with an answer… ❓
