InactivePotential 2004 Rotax Max Challenge Finals at Grand Junction, but was not considered because of Colorado’s weather in October.
Okay Stacy, was SSC news blip referring to your track?????? 8)
I think so, and that would have been tremendous!!
Also, are you plan on extending the track in 2005 to 2 miles? Can you be more specific?
Like your track a lot. Keep building and get some regional/national races there in 2004.
See you for the CSC race at GJ. 🙂

InactiveRich,
Actually the CO track they were talking about was CRE not GJ. I would have loved to be able to run nats this close to home, but Vegas should be a good time too. 😉December 26, 2003 at 4:55 pm #45677Anonymous
InactiveDane,
CRE track, you got to be kidding to even consider it for a national event.
Too short a track
Hotels & restaurants 30-60 mins away
lack of restroom facilities
Office area
Lack of parkingGJ track is definitely the better for a national event.
CRE is a good Colorado track but in my stupid opinion not for a national venue. Yea I remember the Stars Program ran there.

InactiveRich, very few remember it at all

ParticipantRich, thanks for the compliment, we would of loved to have the Rotax Grand Nationals and tried very hard to get them, We told Joe and Marshal that the weather is really good that time of year in Grand Junction, I think because SSC owns the X-Plex that it is going to be very very hard to get it away from there. We are going to have 6 Rotax regional events in 2004 that will be qualifiers for the Grand Nationals so please, please bring all you rotax buddies over, we would love to have all of you. We will again try for it in 2005.

ParticipantThats great news about your regionals for rotax, but there is now 3 series at 3 tracks, but GJ would be pretty spectacular for a series like that

ParticipantMark, what would we need to do to intice all of you Rotaxians to come over and participtate? Purse? contingencies? Great racing? awesome trophies?

Participantunfortunatly, i do not own a rotax, but if i did that would be my series in GJ, start a poll to see what those rotaxians want, i am sure that your series would do great, if i had a rotax, believe me, i would run your series

InactiveStacy,
How are you having 6 regional rotax races? I am missing something here.
CRE has their series
KSD had theirs last year, I haven’t heard about this yr.
Marc, Who are the 2nd and 3rd rotax track series? Are you having your own rotax max series along with the CSC Tag races?
If yes is it certified yet.Sorry about not getting the Max Challenge their-you are building a great venue and with your new building perfect for a natioanl event in October.
Enticements:
***2 days of racing instead of 1 day practice and 1 day races
***venue pitting Colorado vs Everybody else (in each classification) points awarded and winning team gets $50 each participant.
***celebity races
***Club challenge races: GJ vs IMI vs CRE vs Action vs Utah blackrock?December 29, 2003 at 8:53 pm #45684Doug Welch
ParticipantRich
As of the first of the year, SSC is changing the distribution system for Rotax. No longer is an area restricted to a single RD, any dealer can do it. Grand Junction is now a Rotax service center and dealer and they are being encouraged to have their own series. Makes a lot of sense as they are geographicaly fairly removed from this side of the hill. At this time, his Rotax series will run seperately from the CSC. I have no idea if KSD will have a series, but we know that CRE will try to have one.

ParticipantDoug is correct, by the way all the Colorado Rotaxians should thank Doug, he tried very hard to get the Rotax Grand Nationals in Colorado. Maybe next year 😀 Doug, when do we all want to get together and get our CSC schedule set for 2004? Probably after SKUSA makes their announcemnent. Sounds like a great year for Colorado karting…..

ParticipantStacey
Talked with SKUSA today. They are sticking to their story that the schedule will be released before the new year. Maybe we should meet sometime during the first two weeks of Jan?

To All Colorado Rotaxians,Whats the old saying that…” close only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades”
CRE Motorsports was originally awarded the 2004 US RMC Championships on November 24th but before they could get the national news release out The Stars of Tomorrow announced their 2004 National Championships were being moved up to September 23-26 at Disneyworld in Orlando, Fla.on December 6th.
Marshall Martin tried to negoiate a schedule change with the Stars organization but they wouldn’t budge. SSC and the RMC was forced to reschedule the date in to October to accomodate importers and distributors who support national championship events.
Marshall and I once again negotiated a new date and any potential conflicts and agreed upon October 15 -17th. CRE was once again awarded the event on December 12th…..the RMC was going to make an announcement on December 24th but apparently got cold feet and postponed the event at CRE and moved it back to Las Vegas over concerns for mid October Colorado weather.
I’ve lived in Colorado for 30 years and operated an outdoor recreational park for 20 of those years. October is probably the most predictable weather month of the year. We are generally in to Indian summer by mid-October with beautiful blues skies, day time temperatures between the high 60’s and mid 70’s,cool evenings and very little moisture. It generally makes for very comfortable and competitve racing.
We haven’t given up……….our bid is still on the table for the 05 Championships, with a mid September date. I have been assured that we are at the top of the list for a future Championship event.
I’m sorry guys……..the prize was right there and it just got away!!
I believe if we continue to build a solid and substantial Colorado RMC program, we will see the national championships in our backyard in the very near future!!
We tried…………………thanks for your support,
Happy New Years to All !!!!!!!!
