You know Troy. I never got a drivable kart under him all weekend. We were taken out in one practice session and picked up someones airbox bungee in another, resulting in a flat tire before getting to up to temp. You get 5 – 7 min. practices and if you miss some, you’re behind the power curve, so to speak. We were loose in the sweeper every session, most important turn on the track and we just could not carry enough exit speed to get down the straight. In the infield, we were fastest in the class. I had no choice but to attempt to make it better, using the heats for tuning (cardinal sin and I know it) and we did improve some, but so did everyone else (remember the missed sessions) we needed a couple more tuning attempts. In the final, I was surprised to see Roman start inside 4th row. Well… I got rid of the loose condition all right. It was soooo tight it just wouldn’t turn, I could see it from the stands. I’ve sent out in the past, forgetting to put fuel in it, check the tires, reset the alignment after making a change. I had that same feeling in my gut when I saw his hands and how long he was having to wait for it to turn. It ultimately put him into the barriers going for a podium finish. I respect his effort, anf he never once complained.

Oh well. Makes us want to go back even more determined. And, we had a GREAT time. It was awesome. We had a great pit set up, I got to hang out with Tom K and his family and gang, which are really great people and took time to watch what may be the best Super Pro and Tag fields ever assemled, square off for some damn good racing. Next year is going to be way over the top with international drivers. The international contingent only had a few weeks to prepare to attend, next year they will have the whole year like us. From what I’ve heard, they are already recieving overwhelming interest for pre entries next year. If you plan on going and don’t like to walk 1/3 mile pushing your kart, reserve as soon as it opens up next year, interest is already much higher than this year I think they had around 460 entries this year with about 60 not showing.

Want to see how good you really are? Go there!

It was a joke! Are you guys slow? The sequence of photo’s is backwards! Am I the only one paying attention?

You know, the guy sliding in the dirt, then slipping into his kart? Never mind!

    Dan,

Is Greg going Tag next year?

Roman will be in 4-Stroke Heavy. (If there is a class for it) If not, we will look at another class. Possibly DD2 Heavy (if there is a class for it) or Spec Moto Shifter Heavy (if there is a class for it) And Tag Masters could be an option as well. I think 4-Stroke is really the way to go and hope to see more Tag Masters drivers come over and feel the horsepower and the ease of maintanence on these machines. If enough cross over we’ll have some awesome racing in 4-Stroke Heavy, although competing at the standard 4-Stroke weight would simply put us as filler. Not an option.

Another cool thing would be seeing Doc, Patrick, Aron, Adcock, Cunningham, Neff etc… Get Spec engines bolted on, Run a Spec Light and a Spec heavy, and lets get it on! If your goal is to keep in touch will a National class, G1 is not the only one. The Supernationals offers Spec Shifter Heavy and it may be the best racing you’ll see this year. I personally didn’t have any problems with our Icc (Pavesi) Never even stuck a piston, no failures whatsoever in 2 1/2 yars running. But they were 6 grandish for a brand new one! But, they flopped right on the kart, no brackets to build, carb and pipe in the right spot, with no clutter… And they ran all year without a rebuild. Is a “built” Spec Moto quite a bit cheaper? Seems like it should be. No need to buy a 5k – 6k full on Icc? But I do see a lot of big time engine builders stickers on the side of these “stock?” moto’s. Don’t know much about them really. But would run one if all that is claimed is true.

    Just thoughts, I suppose.

We don’t really care who we’re combined with and aren’t a big proponent of adding time to the race day. We’ll just find a place where we can be competitive in the available classes. But we will race next year.

Fuzzy, there are karts all over. Romans GP-8 / Rotax will be available after the Supernationals. And a lot of other well supported packages are out there, at most any budget. Just buy something that is common to this area that you can get parts and help when you need it. Don’t buy an “odd ball”

Lemans starts? For Roman? I’ve never even seen him walk fast! They would have to throw the yellow flag on lap one, because he’d still be crossing the track as the pack comes around!!! :turtle

    Dave,

That’s a tough one. There are very few spectators at a kart race. Not to mention limited television or other media coverage. Mostly other racers and families in the stands. So sponsor exposure and their return is minimal. Your best bet is to talk to people you do biz with or vendors you use to get a little here and there. Some of the racers who own a business support their own efforts.

Once you are consistently running up front and maybe a have Championship or two under your belt, you have a little more leverage to raise money.

We’ve found it a little difficult to get a significant amount of money from any one sponsor. We have been able to get a little here and there. Which may be your best approach.

Sorry bout that, I knew there was a big one I was missing. It’l be so much fun again. Sounds like we are getting some out of country competitors to race the best we have here. Can’t wait.
