I was wondering how many of you would like to participate in a little endurance race at IMI in December, I propose 3 hrs up to 4 drivers regardless of the weather, who is macho enough? Mr. Brad would you host it?

I love the idea of an enduro except I dont know how many people would want to be on a team with me? 😆

November 17, 2007 at 6:11 pm #60123luis8060ParticipantI PROPOSE SUNDAY DECEMBER 9TH 10:00 AM, IF THE OWNER OF THE PLACE “BLINK” AGREES, PLEASE TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW AND LETS START TALKING ABOUT LOGISTICS.
ROAD RUNNER: JUST REMEMBER THAT PEOPLE WITH ECCENTRIC MANNERS OR TENDENCIES LIKE JENSEN LIKE TO HAVE FUN TOO ” just kidding Mr. Jansen all my respect”
Luis Ramirez.November 17, 2007 at 10:31 pm #60124Brad LinkusParticipantI have no problem with it if you all want to do it. What classes?
November 18, 2007 at 2:22 am #60125luis8060ParticipantTHANK YOU BRAD FOR THE RESPONSE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS SOUNDS CRAZY. I WAS THINKING ABOUT ONLY THREE CLASSES SO ALL AGES CAN PARTICIPATE AND HAVE FUN EXCEPT FOR KID KARTS FOR SAFETY REASONS. IT WOULD BE TWO STROKE, FOUR STROKE AND ALL SHIFTERS INCLUDING THE DD2’S. IS THIS NUTS OR IS IT DOABLE? 💡
THANK YOU AGAIN BRAD FOR YOUR HELP AN SUPPORT.

Troy here…we raced against each other a few weeks back at The Track. (You gave me a hand w/ my kart getting it on and off my stand as we were pitted next to each other.)Endurance race??? Great! My $.02 is this…it’s an endurance race; people will not be too concerned about classes as it is supposed to be for fun. I vote you pick a class, go with it and to try maximize the number of teams…TaG seems the most likely choice. If you get 30 teams at up to 4 per team, you are in for a heck of a fun day of racing. Also, keep in mind the potential for weatherand lack of hours of sunshine…you realistically can’t start until, what 9:30 AM for potential temp reasons? Endurance racing sounds like great fun, cold sticking motors… not so much. Heck, I’d even race with Jansen!!!
Want to throw a charitable spin on it and have a portion of the entry fees go to a children’s charity in time for the Holidays? :idea Would be a nice gesture and a positive way to promote our sport. (Sorry, I’ll get down off the soap box.)
I’d even help organize. PM me if you’re up for a little help.
Best,
Troy

Rules? none.

Just wanted to mention I think the charitable angle is a cool idea, especially at this “giving” time of year.
If kids related, I know someone who is on a board for a local kids domestic abuse related NPO that is currently trying to improve fundraising and would likely appreciate such an opportunity. If that part of it flies, let me know and I can look into her NPO some more.

Besides, let’s do it for all those kids that had a bad start in life. PLEASE EVERYBODY SIGN IN, JUST REPLY TO THIS POST SAYING “I’M IN”.

November 20, 2007 at 8:51 pm #60130Rick SchmidtParticipantI’ll drive my truck, heater on, stereo blaring…..and trust me, I’m hard to pass! I can make that thing real wide!!!
Oh Kirk. We could tow strap your Hard Kart along for the ride if you wish.

Now we’re rig racin’ as well? This thing’s gonna turn into the CannonBall run…I can just see it now!
Seriously…congrats, looks like Roman had a great Nationals!

November 20, 2007 at 10:45 pm #60132Rick SchmidtParticipantYou know Troy. I never got a drivable kart under him all weekend. We were taken out in one practice session and picked up someones airbox bungee in another, resulting in a flat tire before getting to up to temp. You get 5 – 7 min. practices and if you miss some, you’re behind the power curve, so to speak. We were loose in the sweeper every session, most important turn on the track and we just could not carry enough exit speed to get down the straight. In the infield, we were fastest in the class. I had no choice but to attempt to make it better, using the heats for tuning (cardinal sin and I know it) and we did improve some, but so did everyone else (remember the missed sessions) we needed a couple more tuning attempts. In the final, I was surprised to see Roman start inside 4th row. Well… I got rid of the loose condition all right. It was soooo tight it just wouldn’t turn, I could see it from the stands. I’ve sent out in the past, forgetting to put fuel in it, check the tires, reset the alignment after making a change. I had that same feeling in my gut when I saw his hands and how long he was having to wait for it to turn. It ultimately put him into the barriers going for a podium finish. I respect his effort, anf he never once complained.
Oh well. Makes us want to go back even more determined. And, we had a GREAT time. It was awesome. We had a great pit set up, I got to hang out with Tom K and his family and gang, which are really great people and took time to watch what may be the best Super Pro and Tag fields ever assemled, square off for some damn good racing. Next year is going to be way over the top with international drivers. The international contingent only had a few weeks to prepare to attend, next year they will have the whole year like us. From what I’ve heard, they are already recieving overwhelming interest for pre entries next year. If you plan on going and don’t like to walk 1/3 mile pushing your kart, reserve as soon as it opens up next year, interest is already much higher than this year I think they had around 460 entries this year with about 60 not showing.
Want to see how good you really are? Go there!
Rick
November 20, 2007 at 10:51 pm #60133Kirk DeasonParticipantI would race with Tony (road runner) but the XXXL seat size will have me bouncing around like a ping pong ball. I’m looking for smaller teammates/seat sizes (ahem…Nick?) Jeff would be a good fit for a smaller seat, too. Nick, were you offering your kart? I’m looking for a ride…Troy?
I’m mad at my kart right now, that’s why Team HARDkart isn’t doing the endurance race (solo). Jeff broke (just kidding) the starter at the last race at Centennial. After all the racing was done, I was gonna let Jeff take his first ever ride in a TaG kart…Jeff got all geared up, sat down in the high-powered HARDkart and pushed the green button…the silence was deafening. This was my third starter failure this season. Again, it is ‘just’ the brushes inside the starter, but MAN this starter problem is starting to piss me off!
