We missed your input Don. Hope you’re feeling better.

We were sitting there trying to remember all the important questions to ask.

The meeting was pretty good, hope you’re not bitter!

(I’m going to end up in the Betty Ford Center for Karters, O well).

    Mikey

    Mikey,

The first step is admitting you have a problem. I’m proud of you and would be interested in being a sponsor….. wait, I’m as bad as you are. Oh well. Move over! :jail

    Roger,

How’s our future racer doing? You look very nice in uniform, but, how about a baby pic?

Hope all is well and you’ll be returning to racing at some point. The Csc has some very exciting future plans! The spec moto (you’ll be glad to hear) is taking off here as it has done across the country.

I speak for our Colorado racers in thanking you for all you’ve done in the military capacity. And all who serve our Country. I will be gathering with family at home this holiday. Safely in my home. Thanks to you and those who’ve made sacrifices for our Country.

    Thank you Roger.

    The Schmidt’s :usa:

Matt. You don’t want Roger visiting, like that!

    Wow,

Best damn race meeting I’ve ever participated in!

A group of racers sitting down and tackling very important issues, like clock work? Track owners and racers offering, listening and coming to reasonable solutions. I didn’t feel we walked away with any loose ends. There were things tabled and excellent idea’s and input from racers and track owners alike.

Quite honestly, I didn’t expect it. No big flare ups! A lot of give and take! No table pounding! More flexibility than I’ve seen, particularly with so many racers with their own agenda’s to deal with. I thought it was very fair. And while everyone did not get everything they wanted, including me, I fully understand and can work within the resolutions. No one tried to push past issues that didn’t concern them to move onto issues that did. Real cool!

A lot of well channeled passion and emotion took place this morning. Definitive answers and solutions before moving to the next item.

No agenda, No power point presentation… Just a group of individuals who really do care about this sport. Looking at it’s direction tomorrow.

Those of you who weren’t there, missed out! You’ll have to wait for the official information to be released. Should have been there! Certainly are some very smart racers in this region, who have a lot to offer and really do care about racing. I feel differently about some of those involved in our sport! I was very cool to see this unfold.

    I’m stoked about racing again!

The club series can thrive. The Csc will Rock, better than ever!!!

    Again, Wow!

    Tony,

It’s probably not going to Miller anyway. But if it ever did, you could always throw your stuff in one of our trailers and go race.

I think the 2 race weekend has some possibilities and we would really consider it …however the talk is only racing at GJMS, TTAC and IMI however we all keep ignoring JB and how Bandimere fits in… I know there is talk of not including him but I think everyone should remember that JB was one of the people that got the CSC going and we should get his input and opinion before we make any decsisons about racing or not racing there.. That would give us 4 weekends, 8 races with 1 drop….

    Stacey,
Does Jb want to run in the Csc? I was under the impression he was doing much better on rentals! If I’m mistaken, I apologize. I was left with this feeling by a comment he made after the last Csc race there. We would be willing to run with him. The track is rough and very hard on equipment (we bent 2 Gp-8 spindle bolts there without contact, and Roman does not use the curbs!) What we would not tolerate again is; sharing the practice day before the race with rentals. If he can’t go for a day without them, we would choose not to race there again. Csc or not. How bout one there and one at Miller. Miller can’t be the Drop? This is a regional series?

Also a Title sponsor is desperatly needed for the CSC, if we are going to ever be a legitimate series we have to have one…

Classes: Same as 2007 however DD2 Light and Heavy should be in somewhere.. also Kid Kart and JR1 we really like and think the Comers should be an option in 2008… Brad has spent his money and lots of time and it is greatly appreciated but it seems like the vast majority are still running the comers…

If someone were to step up on the title sponsor, this thing could achieve greatness again.

Stacey, are you going to be part of the Mile High Rotax series? Sounds like they are looking at running a heavy class for the DD2.

Seems pretty sad to see the Jr-1 and Kid Karts so fragmented. This could be a huge class, but it’s not. But I won’t comment further, due to not having a dog in this fight. There are others that do not have a dog in this fight spouting off so I’ll refrain.

I can definitely see the merit in going to a two day race format but I’m still against it.

Probably wouldn’t be if you were from Grand Junction, So Colorado or Utah etc… We want to most competitors to race against

My plans and budget for the summer are set for racing. If we limit it to three weekends the cost will be the same with a lot less racing. This also potentially puts people out of the running if they can’t make a weekend.

Seems most of the single day events have a good number of racers there the day before to get ready anyway, making a weekend out of it. The cost will be the same? Not sure what your towing your gear with Dave. But it cost me quite a bit to haul over the hill in fuel alone. Once over is certainly cheaper than twice over.

I’d never drive all the way to Grand Junction unless it was part of this state series.

Some of the nicest people and best tracks anywhere! We like to support them! We would go over even if the Csc went defunct.

I was stretched to run 12 club races last year and a six race format with an odd club race thrown in sounds perfect to me. I plan to run 6-10 races spread out over the summer. The CSC still has it’s “special draw” because I’ll race in it no matter what format is chosen. I’d just prefer to have my racing spread out so I don’t pour everything into three weekends a year. Let’s keep the fun spread out!!

It would still be a 6 race series, that would probably cost you less money and why can’t you stretch your racing out over the summer?

Against a drop too? Be careful. Vewy vewy careful!

I like the “Battery Tenders” just plug them in and leave them. They are good for your battery, do not overcharge and cycle the battery. This is what we’ve used on the Rotax and 4 Stroke since we started karting and don’t seem to have some of the problems others do.

    Rick

Congrats on your new 4-Stroke Racing machine Tim. You’ve got to be excited.

I like Rick’s and Mikey’s idea. Just like the PMT of old and Stars of new. Three race weekends, one complete day each day. Go ahead and allow one drop. It means in actuality each event becomes a 3 day as Friday will be practice. But all 3 events could be in the summer so as to minimize kids missing school.

It just might be the ticket to make the CSC events huge again.

I agree with Doug. And I would do anything within my power to make it a special 3 weekends. Helping with barbeque, help to set up a raffle with some goodies from our shops ( Gunslingers stuff is cool! Right Brian?) and vendors, maybe get a little support from the kart shops to raffle goods. Maybe some activities for the little ones. Keep it in the summer. Considering the National races, Ama, The Rock…. Would be much easier to schedule around conflicts. Wouldn’t this be easier for the West Slopers and Utah gang? Maybe attract some more out of town racers in the proccess. 3 trips for 6 events vs 6 trips for 6 events. Has anybody seen fuel prices lately? I don’t think everyone is considering the good of the whole in a closed door meeting.

No racing org, schedule, classes, etc.. will ever completely satisfy the masses. Good luck.

My only suggestion for the CSC is to keep your Race director, Tech director, and Starter consistent from one race to the other. It is my personal opinion that this is where the CSC lacks. Dennis Z. and Angie are the only thing consistent (except when Dennis got hurt and didnt go to GJ). If these three people are front range folks, the only CSC expense outside of paying these key officials will be lodging in GJ. I’m sure Stacey can pitch a tent or something on the 8th and 9th tee boxes for them!!

    Best of luck to all.

    BR

And this is something that some of racers have discussed already. But were waiting to table at the meeting. (Does it still matter what we think?)

I agree with Brian as well.

These are my thoughts. Without talking to the respective parties, of course.

How about Curt Kistler as a race director? Matt is going to school and they are taking a year off. He has a great knowledge of what we do, is fair, ran the best display of safety at a race, I’ve seen (1st GGP) Has a trailer that would make a nice mobile headquarters, corner worker lounge, timing. And… works cheap.

Also. I think Brian Robson would be an awesome tech director. Basically grown up in this racing game. Not sure if he is a full on engine guy. But not sure you have to be (I love tearing things apart, I don’t have to put together) and with a little help and some tools / equipment. He would be awesome. I’ve seen him work the Supnationals. (You could help build the track with him for 3 days, drink beer with him every night.. but, by God, if you don’t have your wrinst band, you not getting on the frigging grid!) A little guidance from Brad and Doug. And random area’s of tech focus. It could be good.

Don’t know what everyone else thinks, or if he’s interested, but, Bobby has done one hell of a job. And has gotten better with age.

Maybe these individuals would have no interest. They are just the ones I would try to get if it was my decision. They all have passion for the sport. Not just a hired hand. The culture of our sport is important and these individuals are all about charachter.

Someone mentioned a title sponsor. That would be awesome to provide some of the “speecial” part of setting the Csc apart. We have some very resourse full people in our group. How bout going after someone to support us. There must be some benefits for them too. Even if it’s tax related. Seesman has a sunglass company. We need something. Mazda, Crocs, Coors (ummm beer) Something. Someone much smarter than me should be able to come up with something.

The Csc needs a shot in the arm! When you have local racers just thinking about dabbling a little here and there and not committing to a local series because its gone a little flat. You need to look at it.

I think the track owners should listen to the customers. Not to revamp the whole damn thing, just to make customers happy and to keep them coming back. Stop this “average karter stays in the sport for 2 years”, or whatever it is. Seems to me some of the series that are having success (Gatorz, Prokart) are listening to their customers, at least to a degree, and not having the track owners decide the future behind closed doors.

I don’t think it should kiss everyones a$$ or try to cater to every whim. But if there are racers who have constructive input and aren’t heard, they may loose interest and choose another series or just give up altogether. Shame for the benevolent dictator then. this is not F1. It’s easy to say you want one. It’s also easy to gripe later about it. It’s even easier to offer no constructive input on what was once a series heading towards being one of the best in the country. It still could be.

Sorry about all the spelling errors. My spell check is off again. Where’s Roman?

I totally disagree with a race streched out over 2 days. Why would we want to strech something out over 2 days, that we have learned to have completed by mid afternoon? A race a day for 2 days back to back. Sure well go home tired. But a third of our season will bo ever in one weekend. We could do it. Make the last race at Gjms and make one day double points. Get the entries. Get some fire going under this thing. Have some time for the rest of our lifes. Or other races or whatever.

As far as how we race….it’s fine. The classes are fine. How the day is run is fine. Tech needs improvement. But most everything else if fine.
