ParticipantRod / Brian,
We need a special chassis for doing this? Or can we just pick up one of Brads older ones to beat on? Would this require a jack shaft Rodney?
These new generation 4-strokes would be really cool in one of these.
I wish they would televise the Chili Bowl Kart races.

But I have a feeling my man Jansen is sitting back in the shadows waiting, and watching, watching and waiting ……………. 😆I have pictures of him sitting in the infield, doing just that Tony!

ParticipantDitto Greg and Joe.
Maybe moving forward they will adopt some more road circuits and the push to pass button.
I actually believe you have one hidden on your kart somewhere Greg.

I’m in for ANY Enduro event. 6hrs, 12hrs, 24hrs, heck ill enter for a 48 hour envent! If you are worried about wearing out your equipment then you are in the wrong sport! Lets get this show on the road. I’m IN. Anyone need a ride for it?Hey,
Nice offer Mike. Would you consider teaming with Roman? I made several calls today with no interest on that date. We really like the enduro idea too and have supported it here on the forum too! But if Brad and Jim decided to drop the winter enduro, we would love to run your kart. It’s just leaving for Junction Thursday afternoon for the Csc race doesn’t give us enough time to show up prepared the way we like to be. We’ll need the full Friday practice in GJ to get it down both directions. But if you are offering a shared ride, that’s different.
Are you going to run the Leopard? Do you mind putting a #4 (L) seat in it and driving with an insert? I’ll provide the insert. You guys would kick some butt. I ran a few numbers, just to try to see if we could afford it. Looks about 3k to 3.7k with tires, fuel, consumables and tax to run the kart itself for 1320 laps. This does not count entry fee? (I have the notes if you want to call, pretty sure my numbers are close) 4 drivers would be $750 to 1k each. 6 drivers would be better for us $500 to $600 each driver.
Jim must have some national and out of state racers committed. Maybe a Colorado Shifter, a Colorado Tag and a Colorado concession team against them? What do you think?

It is done, its official, the open wheel war is over! :woohoo
Guess i gotta start taking all the Champ Car stickers off my kart. 😐 Wonder whats gonna happen to the ‘Champ Car’ Rotax Series now?
Jon,
Stop by my trailer the next time you see us at the track. I will have plenty of Indycar Series stickers to replace your Champcar stickers.
Eric
Hopefully Tony isn’t hip to the local karting scene in Indiana. They are pretty hard core Leopard supporters from what I’ve seen. Maybe that will have no bearing on Rotax. It certainly brought some prestige having Champ Car involved in Rmax.
It’s a great thing to see them reunite but I’ll miss some of the road courses.

ParticipantGreat pic Brian!
Looks like a hoot with those tires out there exposed. Hey, where are your feet?

ParticipantWe’re probably going to have to sit this one out with it being the weekend before our Csc Championship season opener and I’m sure changing the Csc dates would really enrage the karting community at this point. 🙁
I want to start the season with my driver and equipment fresh, sitting in my trailer shined up, caressed and ready to rock. It is just scheduled to close to risk crash damage or sore ribs and have time heal and freshen up my junk. (4 days?) I don’t have a back up motor for either class, God forbid it should rain! That is very hard on the 2 stroke motors and would require freshening by the following weekend, if the Csc is you goal and you want it to run up front, it’s pretty tight on time.
Are we still on for an enduro at a more reasonable time slot in this years schedule? (late winter, early spring) Maybe start with a 6 or even 12 hour race and work our way up to a 24 hour event? Are you still up for this Brad? Brian Robson has been involved in many of these and sure he would help us as well as Curt K. This would be fun as well and has generated some interest. It may be more in the means for some of us competitors to not have their backs against the wall prepping for their next race. It would give racers who couldn’t pull off the time frames for the 24 hour race a cool off season event as the racers have discussed. Those of you who have called or emailed my about the enduro and if the 24 hour race has replaced it. I guess you’ll need to follow this thread for more information.
A 24 hour race sounds really cool and would be fun, but does not make sense at this stage of the game for us.
Maybe next year.
I might be interested in coming out and tuning if someone needs help as well.

ParticipantDoesn’t it have a cool flop on the pearls? It looks different in varying light conditions.
It would look way cool with a blue iridium visor.
Glad you like it. Should be good for a couple of tenths.

ParticipantMan, those are great tips. You’re not going to want to get behind me at the pump now!
I always topped off my airplane and helicopter tanks after use to minumize condensation forming in the tanks as well. Like my Dad used to tell me when I was a kid running out of gas all the time. “It’s just as easy to keep the top half full” That wisdom crap again.
Thanks for sharing those tips.

ParticipantWell Greg,
You know I was at one time the 3rd most prolific poster on the forum. Behind Jansen (who has seemed to drop off the face of the planet) and Vito. (who was in hibernation while unemployed) While making my charge, Angie accidently deleted my account? I had to start over and I’m coming back.
I just really love karting for kartings sake. The politics go with anything you do, shootings at kids soccer games, Dads fighting at softball touneys and so forth. We don’t have it that bad in karting. Sometimes the forum gets a little slow and I like to keep it jump started. Sometimes it gets a little negative and it needs to. People like your Dad and other shop owners have to choose their words so carefully or they just get hacked when they post.
It’s funny you ask about my day job. My girls have been giving me crap, asking me if work is getting in the way of the fund raiser! It kind of did. And I’m glad it’s over.

ParticipantAs usual,
Great advise Doug.
You mean it’s not all about the motor? :bang
I saw someone (very good driver) barrow an FR 125 off of Stacey’s rental kart up in Junction a few years back and put a pretty good whopping on the field.
I guess if all things are equal, it could be said a very well balanced and free crank could make the difference, but some of the best running Rotax’s I’ve seen, had a lot of miles on them.
Nick,
If you do find a good deal on a pre-owned kart and have questions call one of the shops and see if they will give the kart the once over. If the seller is serious about selling their unit, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind someone looking at it. Just make sure the chassis is straight and not ground excessively in the waist. (bottom of the rails outboard of the fuel tank) You can go around and replace tie rod end, bearings, nuts and bolts for a reasonable amount of money and get to know your kart a little better in the process. That kind of stuff is kind of fun if you have a little mechanical ability, it’s a good chance to get a little more intimate with your machine, even if your just going out to have fun. Of course that’s what they all say till someone passes you!
Keep shopping, you’ll get the right deal. As Doug mentioned, a lot of racers are reloading this time of year and you can buy a good machine for a decent price. Not sure if you’ll get a last year model chassis with a freshly rebuilt engine for 3k, but you might be able to get fairly close.
You missed the kart auctioned at Bobs benefit, it was a good deal at $2500, but there is another deal out there for you.
You’re much more patient than I am.
Looking forward to seeing yo out there.
Rick
