thanks for the advice everyone-I knew the welded routine already and have heard that it isnt the best solution. Dont need a DNF, however I wont be racing anytime soon-cant keep throwing money at issues that seem to never end! I cant afford the $350 right now-probrably not next month either. I was hoping to find a used/new spare flywheel that I could put my fresher shoes on. They only sell this as a whole assembly now and it is costly.
Everyone please keep their ears open. Anthony might have one. I talked to Brad-he’ll sell me the flywheel seperately for $235-seems high to me?

By the way-make sure that all of you Rotax owners put the $7 triangular clutch support plate on the posts. Tom Denin made me aware of this yesterday when mine broke. This is a part that Rotax came out with 2.5 years ago to solve this issue. It could save you $350! The springs and clips and rubber sleeves are sold as a kit and cost a ridiculous $27.

    thanks for the response…j

I think it is a good idea, although I did enjoy the experience of a rather full field. Thanks for a fun race weekend. We didnt get overly schooled by the out of towners did we? I guess I shouldn’t say ‘we’ because I got schooled by everyone! Happy to finish my second race! Next time I’ll run the correct gear. cheers, j

I dropped 2 seconds as well from where I started. I plan on dropping a couple more-I wont say what my times are but feel better than I thought I would. Especially as a rookie driver. My only concern at this point is being out there with all of the MG guys and getting punted from behind again.
Maybe Jim will find it in his heart of darkness to separate us.

‘But shall we not then be defeated?’
‘We know that where there is no contention, there is neither defeat nor victory. The supple willow does not contend against the storm, yet it survives. Nor do illusory Mojo tires contend against the obvious MG…only the pavement can know the true Master.

Yes you guys are fun. Angel-I want you to not watch your brother next time! Thanks for coming over to appologize, I appreciate it. No more free advice on jetting! Just kidding, it’s fun to meet all of you guys and I look forward to more racing. However, being 405lbs and running Mojos, I might not be able to pass you so easily. Just dont nerf me out next time from behind because you’re trying to catch your brother, I’ll catch him for you!!!
It’s all good guys-you guys have the kind of attitude that makes karting fun for us older farts. I had lots of fun for my first race and look forward to Apr. 1st. cheers, j

Off thread here Ken but who do you think owns that unscrupulous mainstream media that likes picking up turds? Is it the dillusional illogical liberal minority?

Keep your spin straight. Independent guy over and out.

Isnt a binary political system just wonderful?

I’ve taken my 97 Miata on the track in GJ at the Flyin Miata Open House. I barely get out of 2nd gear down the first straight. I usually go every year-Bill and Terry are truly nice folks. If you want seat of the pants pucker factor-drive a Turbo charged Miata! 350 true RW Horse on a car that weighs under 2000lbs. Whatever you do dont buy the Jackson Super Charger. If you’re going to buy an after market power mod go for either the Flyin Miata Uber Charger or one of the Flyin Miata Turbo kits. I’ve driven both and they do not disappoint!

Karting is still where its at! Enjoy your Miata Doug, they’re great cars.

In the 2007 Class Structure found under Rules and Tech on the rmaxchallenge.com website it lists the minimum weight requirements per class. Masters is 405lbs.

I agree w/ Dave. It is basically assumed w/ folks that have been racing a while that transponders are part of their own racing equipment etc.
For folks new to the sport it is one of those “oh yeah, you need to spend another $250 if you want to race.” Granted, we all know that karting AINT cheap but if transponders are a must own item, some folks will be very angry on race day if they find out they need their own when expecting to rent or unaware of the need for one.

    Hi Jim,
Now I’m confused-does this mean we have to run MG Yellows if we are only doing the 4 RMax Challenge races?

What is the name of the combined CLUB SERIES? If it is Mile High Challeng then no wonder I’m confused. I was under the impression that The Mile High Challenge refered to the Rotax Max Challenge-Mile High Series-meaning the 4 races at The Track and IMI. I missed the name that was chosen for the Club Series.

My concern is that I would like to run Mojos for the 4 RMax races regardless, so to get used to them in a race setting.

Any clarification is appreciated, thanks, j

I will be racing Rmax this year. I am new. I would prefer to race against Rotax only as would Doug. I also see the issues as does Doug. I am happy to be involved period. I am signed up. I will race on Mojos. To me it does not make sense to go out there with different tires and then have a big wake up at the Grands. I dont expect to qualify for Grands but will do everything I can to be competitive. I also cant afford to run all of the club races and especially run two types of tires! Mojos will be my friends!
I will learn them and most likely become a better driver because of them.
    cheers, j

    Hi Jim,
As a rookie racer please bear with me…
I assume there will be an entry/race fee per race in this series?
I’m curious what that fee will be?

Also regarding transponders… I dont own one and intend to, however I remember hearing last year that The Track either loaned them or rented them? Is this true? If so I assume there is a limited number. Could you describe how that all works. As I said I intend to get my own eventually-looking for options I guess.

I plan to go to the IMI meeting-maybe some of my rookie uncertainty will be cleared up there.

Thanks for your hard work on all of this-Rotax series should be fun this year!
