I’m just curious, I run Tag Master as you can see, but I got an old Margay kart just sitting around, what kind of times would be competitive in the outlaw class?

I have found that most of the stuff can be bought locally, but some unique parts can be found a http://www.fastech-racing.com/ John is great to work with, however I prefer to buy locally if it is at all possible. The local dealers are more than willing to help you out on the “what if” and “how does that work” questions more than on a web site.

I guess I’m confused about this number deal. I totally understand if you have had the number for many years or have T-shirts and trailers painted up that it would seem quite right for some one to be using your number, but I am yet to see any where this year there is a sign up for the IMI / TTAC series I certainly would have done so. Unfortunately the last race I had that bug that seems to be going around and I didn’t make it down to the track, but I plan to run the whole series, if allowed to with the number 84.
I seem to remember some place reading some where that the club series what ever number you showed up you ran with. Jim and I both ran the number 84 most of last year and it seem to me that there was much of a problem.

I’m no expert on tools to bring, but I usually bring every thing I can to fix any issue on the kart; however I’m a bit anal about that. The good thing about these kart guys is they are willing to assist or lend you things you may have forgot to load up. As far as a trailer I see many different ways of transporting the kart to the track. A flat bed trailer is a good idea and you usually can find someone to help take it off. I’ve seen some folks just strap the tool box to the trailer and work next to the trailer when they needed the tools. Another thing that works well for me is a small plastic table that I picked up at from Sam’s Warehouse. These can run about $15 to $25 dollar and work very well to put the tools on you need for the race.

Hi Brad, I do agree with Rich, I did the sitting out for a year and watching, and although you can learn quite a lot it still not as much as just getting out there and running with us. I raced stock cars not so many years ago and I will tell you from one racer to another I have not seen as much help and caring come out of any racing association and I have seen with these kart guys. All are willing to give you as much assistance as you need along the way and never ask for anything in return. This was really refreshing from what I have come out of years ago.
If you need help with anything please feel free to call me at home 970-669-4428 or send me a private message on the forum and let me know how I can help. It wasn’t so long ago I was in your position, however with everyone helping its not long before you catch on.

I have been running a Type M helmet for the last two years; I was told that this helmet has better peripheral vision. I do like the helmet and it has the M2000 certification

Ken Wood had a great way of doing it. He has a small cable winch attached to one rear corner of the trailer and would lift it up off of the trailer with it. I was on a pivot so he would rotate off the trailer a place the kart either on the stand or on the ground. I thought it worked great.
