Not an expert by any means, but the Duro tire is very hard to get lateral grip with. Seems like a fine line between freeing up the rear of the chassis and getting enough weight transfer. High COG with wide front track and narrow rear track to get the inside rear tire to lift on corner entry is key. Also momentum through the corners is crutial with the low power engine. Hard to give specifics because every chassis is different in what works best. Best way is to do on track testing and try one change at a time to see which changes do what. Make sure your clutch is locking up at a low enough rpm to avoid slippage in the slowest turns.
Great info! Yeah, I forgot about the wide front and narrow rear. And great point about the clutch. I bought an inferno clutch and wanted to add weights but didn’t have the clips needed to secure the weight. SO, if you have one of these clutches make sure you get the weight clips that secure the weights inside the clutch.
Just was reminded if you have a Margay they recommend +4mm camber for duros (obtained that via a conversation with them. Their setup sheets recommend +2mm). And tbh I feel my old kart should have used that as well. I was running -2mm camber in that and had problems with the inside of the fronts wearing before the outside. I think with +4mm that would resolve that issue and I may get more front end grip. Note: 4mm on the sniper is two lines in the positive, 1mm per dot and 2mm per line.

Currently we have 19, 2016 CJKC/CKT members who are planning to race the 325/385lbs. L.O. 206.
That is GREAT NEWS!!!! :wave
Can you say what the class split numbers are currently? As I haven’t even registered yet. 😉

CR125 motor parts can be ordered from any Honda dealer, local brick and mortar or on line.
Since tIme, money, and your wife are involved here, I’d haul the whole lot over to Unser and let them sort things out before making the pilgrimage to a track over an hour away.
Hard to tell if those motors are MOD or stock. You will need to get that sorted out by someone so you know what your path to replacement parts and tuning is.
Add an L0206 powered kart to the mix or replace one of the shifters with an L0206. This way when you get over the initial thrill of 12,000 RPM thrusts towards sharp turns you can learn how to drive a kart.
You might consider having a tuner/mechanic/driver coach come along, even for the first day. This was by far the best money I spent while karting.
Welcome and good luck!!
+1 on everything Leo said. LO206 motor on those chassis would get you on the track asap and get you learning kart control and driving lines. Shifters are just too complicated for newbies. I mean I am a newbie and still trying to figure out the 206. lol Granted, Shifters go faster but they also cost a LOT more than a 206. I have driven a Rotax which is the middle child and have to say it’s a lot of fun but when I look at the price tag for just a race weekend I quickly move back to the 206. Also there are a lot of 206 drivers out that would totally help you out!

ParticipantTurns out some people like to view only and not reply. 🙂 That is totally cool! Sounds like there are at least 3 206 drivers that are going to Denton this year if I understood correctly.
I would love to car pool up there with you all but I am picking up my dad in Wichita, KS. Though, if we could pit close together and maybe get a “group” discount on hotel rooms that would be great. That might save us some $$ 🙂

ParticipantThank you all for the information so far!
Anyone have any ideas for Action Karting up at Bandimere? As the first points race is coming up in two weeks I would love to have a starting point to mess around with this weekend for practice.

Yes Jeremy, they are going to be tracked. You can buy as many practice tires as you want from anybody you want. If you are still running under the Karting Coach tent Mike can help you. As a 206 racer, you will simply be required to buy a minimum of one set of race day tires, with the option of online registration which will support the series tracks. Or you can buy race tires directly from a CSC Series track and keep your bill of sale/invoice. That is my understanding.
You’ll need to call Craig about the track selection for the series.
Cool thanks 🙂 Just so I understand. So if you buy the tires at say IMI but the MG Series race is at SBR I would need to bring my bill of sale/invoice to the track to verify I bought them from a track? Or does the track mark down the tires it sold me in the system that is tracking tires? What if I misplace the invoice before my tires get marked down and tracked? Just sounds like I could buy these tires anywhere and bring them to the track and say they are from a track unless we are verifying the invoice as the proof of purchase.
Is it just me or is the buying tires strictly from just the track kinda controlling the market and removing the outside dealers? I totally understand supporting the local tracks but shouldn’t that be racing and not tires? I understand I could buy many practice sets from local dealers outside of the track.
My whole question is why are we required to buy these tires from the local track when we could buy them from anywhere (While still supporting MG tires and locally) and still allow them to be tracked as they normally would? Aren’t we adding more complexity when there doesn’t need to be?

Good luck out there today! Hopefully the rain will miss you guys!
Hey Cole! Thanks for the luck! It was a great race. Really missed you and everyone else that used to race at The Track. I hope there will be a lot more at the next race. Based on what I have heard there should be at least 3 more. Only 7 total showed up. Finished “3rd” (in duros) there was another light that was in different tires. Though, I was coming in at 355 on the scales at the track. Seems like my last scaling didn’t account for a few big things I guess. Did some research on weights and it turns out .03/lb is what I am seeing which comes out to be about .900 which is exactly what my average lap time is with these guys that are 30 pounds lighter. When I say research I am speaking online research and comparing to what I have seen. Looks like I need to find a second. lol
Found out that I think like 3 or maybe even 4 of the guys will be going to the National event in Denton. Would be kick ass to have everyone out there running all from CO. Would be really cool to get a National event here… 😉 We have so many great drivers!!! Yes, that is me asking in a round about way for you to jump in and hang out in Denton for the National race. 🙂 Cut some expenses. I mean we all are of that caliber. Fair well tested class structure that levels the playing field like a National race does and BOOM instant FUN!!! The little 3 way battle with some lights today (sorry names and I don’t work well together) in the heat race was GREAT! Just need to stick in the draft and I can race them ;0. At least I found that out. lol

Yes, race tires only, however, you are not required to buy a new set for every race, only the first one you enter. This will all be easier to understand once the CSC website comes up with online race registration. For you Richard, if you bought yours from GJMS, you should be good as you know GJMS is a CSC Series Track.
Is this being tracked somewhere that Richard’s tires that he bought from GJMS will be good for CSC? Or are they being marked in some way? Just want to make sure I am following the rules if I buy a set from SBR, IMI, or GJMS (why are we doing GJMS twice when Action Karting was available the weekend?) that they will be valid to use on race day.

We will be racing a gjms, as they are having their 1st club race the same day.
Ahh that is understandable! Good luck out there and have fun!!!
I was more speaking for those that are just “practicing” at another track. 😉

ParticipantA bunch of views but not any replies? And people were bummed that The Track went out of business. The reason it went out of business is people not showing up to race or supporting the local tracks. I am trying to attend the most amount of races this season due to this fact and would LOVE some company!
Would love to race with you all. I know I heard a lot of people going to SBR to practice on duro tires. Why not “practice” in a race with duro tires? Even if you are not going to do the full series it would be a blast to have you all out!

ParticipantLet’s hope they stand up to the heat of summer and lots of running. I guess we will see how they run. Looking forward to racing!

My experience is in addition to the great grip and wear, the performance does not drop off as they get more use. However, I do recommend getting a minimum of one heat cycle (practice session) in before qualifying and going racing.
So they are not faster brand new?

ParticipantThanks Eddy, the way I phrased that it did sound like it was required for each race. Thanks for correcting. Now, does these Reds last that long and are they still quick as when you first got them?
jdavis-403
ParticipantI was able to speak to Craig in person. Tires are required to be bought at the race. Fuel for the LO206 can be bought at any Shell station that sells V91.

:co The entry form will have the ability to select tires and fuels for each race and will be online very soon.
The fuel for adult LO206 classes will be Shell V 91 so fuel checks can be done.
The kid kart classes will run the spec fuel of CJKC.Craig Mansfield
303 242 2929You say that we have the “ability” but I think the question was is it “required” to obtain fuel and tires through the online form. I also asked if it was required for LO206 to get the gas at the track or if I could just bring my own tires and fuel.
