ParticipantI agree. The schedule and points/drop structure was decided at the beginning of the season and I’m sure many people including myself wouldn’t agree with effectively adding another race to the season.

ParticipantHey Josh,
I’ve had the same problem from the day I got my Biland. I drain my carbs and reprime the system before I go out each time. I’ve had a huge bubble and haven’t really noticed that it causes a problem. I know it’s undesireable but I’ve been unable to solve the problem and I replace my fuel lines every 3-5 hours. Good luck and if you find a solution let me know!! Dave

ParticipantCongrats!! I started with the same set-up and actually looked at Jeff’s kart. Welcome to the club!!

ParticipantCamera Courage –
I know how you’re feeling. I made the decision to go karting last fall. You’ve found a good forum and good people to help. I’m a similar size and weight and as such decided on a four stroke. I’m running a Biland and it has been great. I have a couple other friends that decided to jump into shifter and all they’ve done is work on their engines and as a result rarely race. I would strongly suggest going up to IMI and running the Biland and the Vampire. They’re both great engines and the maintenance is way lower than a two stroke. I bought and older chassis and nearly all my maintenance has been keeping that thing together. Drive both two stroke and four stroke – the advantages will be clear. Good luck and I’d be happy to talk to you at the next race.

ParticipantRick has some great points. I’m running my first season with a Biland and it’s been great. I’m totally sold on four stroke which knocks out DD2 for me. The only reason I haven’t signed up for the Vampire for next year is the current lack of entries. If Rick’s vision looks like it could become reality I’m there. If people like Jansen, Hersh, The Brokers and others are serious about switching over let’s talk about it. I would love to see and join a huge 4 stroke class. Let’s make it happen!!
Rick – Thanks so much for your help at the last race. I wouldn’t have been out there without you and your team’s help!! I owe you guys one!!

I am considering have a 5 min warm up only on the July 22 race at The Track. Saturday is practice day. This would allow a split of the larger classes without adding time to the day.
Proposed schedule:8:00am 5 min warm-up/engine break-in. KK, juniors,tags,shifters.
8:30am Qual.
10:30am Heats
1:30pm MainsThanks,
JimI totally agree that the last race day was too long. I was at IMI for over 15 hours at the last race. Knocking 5 minutes off of practice will save 50 minutes but if we split the large classes we will add it right back in, if not lengthen the day even further. I think the problem at IMI stemmed from two practice sessions. We’ve had 10 minute sessions at the Track all season and I’ve never left later than 5:30 even though I run in the last class. Call it a 5 minute warm-up or a 10 minute practice, it amounts to about the same. I use the session and I think splitting the classes will only serve to lengthen the day.

ParticipantI’m with you Jamie. I think a 10 minute practice session is not the problem. Even if we cut it to 5 minutes it saves less than an hour over 10 classes. The problem at Erie was the fact that we had two 10 minute practice sessions. I use the practice session as I often go weeks at a time without driving.

ParticipantThanks for posting that, it was fun to watch!!

ParticipantHi Angie,
Do you still award points to drivers who started the race but didn’t take the checkered?
David Watkins
ParticipantNo problem Angie, that was definitely not a complaint. We all appreciate the fact that you even post them. Thanks.
David Watkins
ParticipantHi Angie,
Have you had a chance to update the points?
David Watkins
ParticipantThanks for the advice guys. I’ll stretch before driving and look forward to racing with you guys on Sunday!!
One more question. I finished putting my axle in last night. I was having some binding issues when I tightened the cassettes so I called Bobby at IMI. He suggested running the pinch bolts snug only with lots of locktite. Has anybody else had problems with the axle binding when you tighten the cassettes? Should the locktite be enough to keep the pinch bolt tight?
