    Vegas for us.

It is a disappointment that out of 52 weeks in a year the Super Nationals and the USGP overlap.

The USGP is currently scheduled for the same weekend in 2013 and it will be a problem next year as well. Unless things have changed, SKUSA has a contract for the same weekend every year with the RIO and it is near impossible to change.
I hope I am wrong but I don’t have my hopes up for 2013 either or 2014 for that matter.

You all have fun in Texas.

We don’t race tag anymore but it is sure fun to watch national level Masters go at it for 20 laps. I was looking forward to only having to drive across town to do so.
    Oh well

Fear not- there is also yet another indoor track being developed at an abandoned Home Depot down close to Centennial airport somewhere. You are the lucky one as you will soon have 2 to choose from.

From None to 3 in the matter of 12 months

This could be a very big problem for me as it is only 4 miles from my office.
I had no idea this facility was being developed.

Curt and I are discussing the possibility of combining the GJMS club race scheduled for October 16th and 17th with a SKUSA Mountain region points race. We need the feed back from the racers who are running for points. Anyone would be welcome. We will have at least 20 SKUSA racers up there from our region regardless of it being a points race or not.

SKUSA MR racers will be hearing from one of us in the next week.

Update- Stacey is also trying to rally the Utah boys to come play. If that is the case we might still be able to salvage the season and have a true regional race before Vegas. A few of the Pro Kart guys said they might even show up if we do it.

Thanks for starting this thread Anthony- I agree with everything you said. That’s a first.

That is not good news in general but more specifically a pretty hard thing on GJMS. I hope you got a deposit out of them.

Here is what is really strange – as of now, there is no explanation. They just removed the race from the website like it was never scheduled. Nothing. No mention of the change or reasons why. What is up with that? I understand things happen but that does not make any sense. Poof- it is gone. No sorry, no explanation, a big fat zero. The only place this has been mentioned is on this site.

Stacey- Tell Gary Davis I got the shifter back together and I am calling him out. 20 laps on the track of his choice. My hope is I can just stay on his ass for 20 laps and then move him over onto the grass right before the finish line.

Jed- Straight but long. Sorry. I will see you next week and my kart might even be back together.

Stacey- Things happen. We don’t blame you for it. I blamed Bill Gates, unless of course you run a Mac and then well- Hell yes it is your fault.

To All- Again Thanks for the support and understanding. Regardless of where we are now, there are two club races going on next week (IMI and PPKRC) and I challenge each and everyone of you to get out there and turn some laps, have some fun and hang out with friends.

    Safety
SKUSA (nationally) is designing a safety training program for Track Personnel. Anyone that works a SKUSA National or Regional event will be required to learn and live the safety mandates from this program. There are several well respected people from all corners of racing participating in putting this program together.

    Thanks for all the support

Our plan called for 4 races. After the schedule was set, we hit a couple of road blocks with our dates in Grand Junction- scheduling conflicts due to a computer glitch at GJMS. The last date was canceled due to tragic accident that happened the week before. We had an option to reschedule the race for later in September but opted not to do so for several reasons. The bottom line is changing it again and again is not fair to the racers or the SKUSAMR group. Some of us will (individually) go up to Grand Junction to support the Cooks at the CKI race.

    PPIR-
Before the season started, our (original) plan was to race at PPIR on the infield. We tested the infield and decided it was not the type of surface or layout we felt comfortable running races on. Safety was a concern. The autocross lot was available and suited what we wanted to do with SKUSA in our region. I know PPIR management was disappointed in our decision from a revenue perspective, but accommodated our request to switch over to the autocross lot. We are grateful for that.

PPIR allowed both SKUSAMR and the PPKRC to rent their autocross lot for our races. SKUSAMR was supposed to have 2 races and PPKRC was to have 3 in this parking lot. Both organizations held their first races as planned. The PPKRC canceled their second race and opted to participate in the race at TTAC instead.

SKUSAMR’s last race was to be the 18th and 19th of this month in the autocross lot. The weekend before our race, the PPKRC was to hold their last race in the same lot. We were told by the management of PPIR we could leave the barriers set up in the lot the week following the PPKRC’s race. We would then make modifications so it was similar to the Super Nationals lay out. The national management team from SKUSA was to be here as well as racers from the other SKUSA regions.

PPKRC has switched their last race to the infield and that has thrown us some curve balls. Without having the basic infrastructure set up the week leading up to our final race, we painfully realize there is no way to pull off our race with a level of safety and professionalism we are striving to achieve. We are concerned about safety and (being honest here) liability. There is no way to do it all in one day and do it right. In addition, PPIR managment has now requested the barriers be loaded and transported off site promptly after the race is over. Our original plan was to use them and then store the containers on the PPIR property until we need to ship them to Vegas for the Super Nationals.

PPKRC wants to make their last race of the year special and they believe the way to achieve this is to have a race on the infield and utilize the amenities of a national caliber race track. I don’t agree with it but I can’t fault them for it. To move the race was not our decision but it has turned out to negatively impact our plans on several levels.

PPKRC graciously invited SKUSAMR to be part of their race, count this as our last race and score our racers separately. Given the recent tragic events in Grand Junction, we have been advised not to combine SKUSAMR (by name) with another race and insurance policy until our attorney looks into potential liability issues further.

With all of these changes happening so late in the season we have little choice but to close the year out as it stands with no more official SKUSAMR races. The PPKRC event should be a great event and I sincerely wish them the best.

For all of you that have supported our efforts, including the PPKRC I offer a sincere Thank You. We are planning on having a meeting with our members the middle of October at Speed Raceway in Englewood to further discuss what we were confronted with this year and our plans for 2011. Details will be posted in the next couple of weeks.

    Now it makes sense

A day after the sudden announcement that one of the world’s highest-profile sporting events is heading to Austin, more details are emerging, including a $25 million-per-year state government incentive offer.

On Tuesday, Formula One World Championship Ltd., Formula One Administration Ltd. and Austin-based promoter Full Throttle Productions LP announced the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix will be held in Austin from 2012 to 2021.

    Christian Schureman won on Sunday
Austin Schimmel podium both days- the most consistent driver of the field both days.
Tate Holleran- What can you say? That kid can drive and has no fear whatsoever.

It was a great weekend. The full run of emotions- could not figure out the tuning on Christians Kart Saturday. AJ and Jeff Field worked like magicians Saturday night and Sunday AM and got it dialed in.

    Great weekend Great event.
Thanks for the hospitality and the fun weekend. We had a blast.
Your local racers are a good group of people and we appreciate the chance to get to know them.

Hats off to Rick, Angie and Curt- Great Job and a big thanks to you all!

I want to specifically point out how good a job Charles did. He was in the sun for the whole weekend and didn’t miss a beat. He is as good at Head Flagging as anyone I have seen from both the drivers and spectator perspective. Top notch flagger for sure.

Great Job All Of You !

I was interested in the Miller Road Race but I didn’t realize the RIGP was the same weekend. We are planning on doing a SKUSA regional race in Missouri the weekend before RI if we can pull it off.

RIGP added Tag Jr. so the kid and I will be going. It will give me an excuse to get a new chassis after I bend mine up the the Rock. I will then have a fresh chassis to bend up in Vegas. Unless, of course I get lapped before I do damage and they pull me off the track. Oh the horror. I think AJ is going to speak with the race director to get a waiver so I can be out there longer 🙂
