Since I don’t race TaGs I am just an outsider looking in. TaGs have been around for awhile now and everyone knows the advantages and pitfalls of each engine type. You can pick and choose the engine based on the criteria that best suits your individual needs. If someone chooses an inferior engine, why would you penalize the others?

However, that said… there are other ways to level the playing field and stay within the rules of a santioning body.

1)Obviously, keep a minimum weight to balance larger drivers with smaller drivers. Keep the SKUSA weights since that is the program followed.
2)Since the CSC series is only on a few tracks, you could give a required “gear package” with specific gear ratios for each engine type at each track. For example at a track like Bandimere you could require that engines with more bottom end power use a higher gear. The opposite would apply on a track like IMI or GJ.
    3) Since this is a box stock class, everyone already knows what the torque and horsepower ratings of each engine type. It would be a matter of calculations to determine what peak horsepower rpm is and where that would be achieved at each facility. You could bring all the engines into a common horsepower range by requiring certain different gear ratios on each engine type.

Or… you could hold it on longer and brake later.

I work all day and unfortunately miss the Jerry Springer show, so I appreciate being able to read the transcipt to the show on this forum. Maybe we could start our own reality show and see who is the last track owner still standing.

You two need to take your fight to the back alley instead. Just let me know the date so that I can come watch!

    blink, lighten up!!

Doug has promoted this series as much as anyone… For free and for the advancement of the sport. Track owners have a REASON to promote this series, financial gain. No problem, I am a capitalist too, but that is the motivation, plain and simple. I know that Doug has a business interest in this series also, (increased business for Shockwave) but if this series fails, I doubt that Doug will feel much financial strain from it.

Karters are going to be the ulltimate judge of what works, let’s not forget that.

Maybe if you have a problem with something that Doug does, you could pick up the phone rather then screaming on a forum for the world to see.

    Just my opinion.

For the last few days I have been reading the posts in this forum and wondering why this is becoming a complicated issue. What has been wrong with the system so far? Weight, tires, front or rear brakes, carb size, ignition, wheel base and safety issues have been the extent so far and have seemed to work pretty well. I haven’t heard of any problems regarding “cheating”.

With the exception of a few of us, kart racing at the local tracks will be the extent of our racing career. For me it’s about the fun, competition and pushing yourself to the next level, whatever that may be. I would like to think that if only I had a new kart with all the “goodies” I could win every race. “NOT”! The fact is that at most of our levels, mine included, it’s 95% driver no matter the kart. Tires and weight should be the major limiting factor in each class of similar karts. It’s easy to see and no teardown is required.

Maybe the pro class and some of the slower karts should have more stringent regulations, but other shifters should be motos or ICC’s with minimal restrictions. Otherwise, there will be the people who will follow the rules out of obligation, and others that will find the grey or illegal areas and take advantage of the situation. Let’s face it, who has the manpower to enforce them anyway? Maybe JB would, as he has nothing to do.
