Thats too much. I know th eRotax runs better without all the octane. How the hell do they figure that out? Substances?

Some Daddy’s have way too much time on their hands. Wonder what the kids think when they get bumped in tech after a great drive.

Oh well. Good luck to our drivers anyway.

Flynn probably has the best shot of getting on the podium, he has a new kart and a new blueprinted engine just for this race. He was pretty fast in practice and should be up front.

    Brad,
How are you getting practice times etc… I can’t seem to find that. I do not know who went other than Mario, Tate, Flynn and a hand full of others maybe. Assumed looking at the entry form that it was more of an experience level driven thing for sorting classes. There does not seem to be a whole lot of easy internet info for this race.

Kind of expected it to be like the Jr Dragster Nationals at Bandimere last weekend. There was a larger crowd than the Mile Highs Nationals last week as far as participants go. Very little cars parked in spectator parking though. And many big semi rigs there to haul these little machines around. Not sure what their entry count was , but it had to be huge. Wonder how much those motors are.

I know nothing about this class, the fuel, motor etc… but Flynn went with a Blueprinted motor and Tate a stock motor? And how in the world do you spend $3000 on a 50cc motor anyway? What are they doing with the fuel to cheat that would not be a pretty easy Dq for tech.

Glad we started Roman when he was too old for this class.

Anyway. Good luck to our kids. No matter what motor you have or what class your in!!! Hopefully you and chassis can overcome the big money!

And most of all Have Fun

    Alex,

Welcome to racing here in Colorado. It is a great state for Kart racing. Come to the track and see whats going on. There are a lot of variables, your size, age, financial position. Tag or 4 stroke are non gearbox classes that will teach you momentum and you’ll end up a better driver and if you move to shifters or cars you’ll always have a little edge on the competition.

Stop by and see Roman or I and we can go over basic tools and equipment to get started. Once you do get a kart, I would recommend 10 – 15 lap sessions at first. Drive till your tired then stop (150 laps or so). Then do 25 35 laps sessions push a little past tired, do 10 laps of it trying to not move the steering wheel, practice driving with one hand doing the work and the other just sitting there, change back and forth. Attempt to turn the kart using you body weight vs the steering wheel. Try locking outside arm, try pushing the wheel to turn, try pulling the wheel.

After you get several hundred laps, then search out a current top level driver to get the last 30% out of you. The best driving coach can only get so much out of you until you have laps under you.

Again, Glad to see another competitor coming in.

    Tony,

The jet train is open on Tag. You’ll need to P.m. me for more. Also, if you’re just changing tires (Mojo to Mg) you’re probably not getting the most out of the tire / chassis without some fairly major changes (seat position, axle, front geometry, gearing etc…)

As far as Tag goes. If you want to run with the most equal competition, run Rotax. Everyone has the same engine and power / torque curves. Tag will never have total equality. There will always be a “this motor is better here and that one there” You’ll have to observe.

If you decide on Tag (which is a great choice too, offers more racing choices throughout the year) and are going to run Tag Jr. It is basically a spec Tag Leopard class right now, this is subject to change though. It takes about 10 – 15 minutes to change out the same type of motor. It takes at least an hour to change to a different type of engine by the time wiring harnesses, radiator, motor, connecting and tying things down, adjusting chains etc… It just takes time. I do not think it would be practical to try to run the 2 classes (rotax & tag) the same day. For us, just the changes for the tire is not practical to go from Rmax to Tag, if thats what your thinking.

We can be found here on the Karter or on race day with the Kartworks / Gp Racing Team.

    Tag Senior Heavy-Fat Guys
    Tag Masters-Old Guys

    I can race both

Why don’t you run a Tag 4-Stroke Stacey? You can still be a little heavy and go fast at the same time. It’s great!

What a blast!! I had been wondering where the carrot is for doing well in our region. I found it in my pants while giving Jim a hug for letting me pass him in the last lap.

Carrot? That happens all the time when I hug Jim too. Whats up with that?

Now Rod, that’s saying something! This may require a moment of silence from our Team. Weren’t you National #2 in some potato pulling class? And this was better? Pretty cool! And I agree with you and what an awesome drive Rod.

I’ll 2nd Brians comments (maybe the 1st time ever!)

Your team is gelling and you are always looking to make this fun and changing it up. Like I said in an earlier post. We leave every time thinking “well that was the most fun we’ve had racing”

We’ve said that over the past years about some of the out of town races, now we’re saying that about our home tracks! How fortunate are we?

Pro job! Recovery, race control, flagging, tech, timing & scoring, trash maintenance, pit parking, fm broadcast, wireless connection, porta potty pretty much the whole package. (Uh… except the trash can by us, should have seen Ben try to lift 80 lbs of bottles first thing in a.m.)

“The Show” and it keeps getting another improvement or update each time around. Pretty cool. We can’t afford to go race cars or whatever, this is about it for us. A few years back I asked Roman “If we won the lottery, what would you want to race? I’m thinking F1, Alms etc… In typical Roman fashion, (a few minutes later) “I don’t know, I kinda like karts” That was it for me. My wife lives for it, My son lives for it, my dog lives for it and certainly, this is the most fun I’ve had racing. This includes running down the road in a very well supported, high end stacker with some very high dollar equipment in it. With a steering wheel in my hand. That became less fun after a while.

Some of you kids & parents out there racing who have great aspirations in your racing future. Maybe a few of you “make it” some won’t. Have fun, enjoy spending time with your family and friends now. Enjoy the quality of facilities we get to run at and the safety and effort of the track owners and local teams to make it a great experience for us. The tracks probably make more money off of rentals than they do us. But all are racers first and it shows in eyes of the track owners for sure. This may be the time of your life. Enjoy it.

Rod and I sat at the edge of The Track Saturday night (am?) and just talked about, how lucky we are. Some of the out of towner’s we spoke with had to drive several hours to a track. We have several closer than their one choice. Also, I am a bush pilot and helicopter pilot and have to say, watching some of the planes on short final or taking off from The Track or Grand Junction is a very nice feature. (Brad can you work on getting an airport put in too?)

Jim, you have some employees who want it, are getting it and will excell at it. That has to be pretty exciting for us.

It was in the rules that no additives were allowed in the cooling system. I went around giving the heads up to the other Colorado boys about this rule because it never came up in tech as the season went along. Most I warned still had water wetter or RC20 in the kart and changed as we did.

There must have been a small amount in a pocket somewhere and when Scott pulled our water and it had a so slight green tint. He asked me what I had in the radiator and I was honest and told him I drained the RS20 and rinsed with distilled water then refilled, which is exactly what I did.

It is one of those “you’re not kinda pregnant” type things. It was there, I saw it, it is in the rules. We were excluded for the first time since I started racing at age 7. Kinda hurts a little, like being 48 years old and having your first accident. It was a long run and we’ll start over. certainly not flagrant. In hind site, I have a theory. I remember adding the RC20 earlier this year (yes we were illegal all year, as were a lot of others and I’m not naming names) and thinking “ok if a few ounces per gallon is good, 6 or 8 has to be better” Those who know me can understand. That crap was probably caked in every nook and cranny.

I could go off on how tech could have prepared us better this year….and on and on and on. But it was a 1st year series, I think they did a good job considering some growing pains and staffing build ups. We had so much fun in this series. We love the people we race with and everytime we leave one of these races we say that one was the most fun. We have a frigging blast. Win or lose.

Thats why we race! Fun! My water was not legal, tough pill, but I’ll take it. It was my responsibility. I shook Scott’s hand after we packed and thanked him for keeping a level playing field. In my opinion, he could be the best cheater in the karting world if he wanted to be. Thats what it takes to do his job and there is not anyone any better. Guys like me who have no intention of cheating feel some comfort in knowing there is a guy like him keeping the big money out of this. Even though your “you know what” slams shut everytime his eyes are in the direction of your kart. Lol

It is possible that it could have cost us 1st place in the Mile High series this year. Not sure if it’s a local series option for drops or not, have not been able to find much about DQ’s and how they relate to drops in Rmax. Roman is really disapointed, anyone who saw his closure and race craft and how hard he drove would have to be impressed that a racer 18 lbs overweight on a Rotax no less, could have that much drive and desire to be competitve. Hell, they started the race while Roman was being a sportsman and letting outside pole postion catch up after he dropped a full half lap back on the warm up lap, he nearly stopped the field like he did for Jim earlier in the year. Then got stuck on the outside waiting to let him in and got jumped big time. No restart, Didn’t complain. He wants to race. I’m thinking go and he’s thinking “lets race”

Regardless of what decision is made or who makes it. Some good people will benefit from it if were moved off the podium in this years series. We knew we could have stayed home this weekend and not jepordize the championship (2 more days of track time is not going to make or break us) but we wanted race and give the count for Masters as large a group as possible. At least I feel we were the team to beat this year. We worked very hard on our program and the results showed the effort. Jim, Roman and Rod are the men in the class (no offense to others) is has been extremely competitive all season. Thats what we like.

In addition to the entry, can additional fuel, tires & oil be purchased at the race if a racer decides they need more of either?

Roman is looking forward to running sticky tires against the rest of the Tag field vs trying to compete agaist them with the Mojo’s! Should be a fun weekend.

Good to see you finaly coming out Jansen!
