Thanks for your responses. I agree with making purchases from our local karting shops and will do so when time permits. It is sometimes hard to make it to the shops and then find out they don’t have the appropriate youth sizes or selection.
Dave – Let me know if I can help you out. I may have what you’re looking for.

ParticipantI wish I could have been there but I’m seriously back-logged with engines and “hunny-do’s” :loony:
So how did the Briggs teams do?

New guy here introducing myself. I recently purchased a kart from a member of the forum and am looking very forward to racing my kart.
How often do you guys get a chance to run your karts?I run my car in auto-x and am looking to get into some racing without having to beat up my vehicle. I also post on coloradoracing.net and svtforums.com
oh, and here is a dumb question about the motor I use, I run a animal motor and am wondering about the lifespan of the motor. How often are these motors to be rebuilt?
Anthony Zarco
Hey Anthony – Welcome to karting! Animal life span varies by the class you run it in and if/how it’s modified. Give me a shout sometime and I’ll give you the skinny 🙂

ParticipantHey Mr. Animal,
Welcome to the forum!
If are running a Briggs Animal and are interested in running in the club series at IMI and The Track please review the “2007 Season Jr. II Animal Rules”. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to give me a shout! 😀
Good luck!

ParticipantThe new World Formula type 8104 is coming soon. Briggs tells me in about 45 to 60 days. Looking at sotck around the nation the “old” WF’s are nearly gone.
Also, the 8003 type Animal is coming out this summer as well.
Just some info for those interested….

Methanol. We have had Dads here say that in the past, the JR2 class did not survive because of the weight increase and no change in the motor which meanes slower than Jr1. I believe the least expensive way and easiest to get more power is get a methanol jet kit. I ran methanol in a stock animal last year for fun and I was at 330 lbs but still could keep up with Tyler.
What does everyone else think? I really want this class to be fun and keep going. Remember, this same age group can run TAG Jr. and they are alot faster.
I agree, an alky motor will pick things up a bit, especially at 265 lbs. When the Animal first came out we ran them on methanol and did well.

Looks like the poll has died down. No matter what the weight is, I think that we should think seriously about giving this age group a little bump in power or they will not want to stick with it. We need to make it fun for them and usually faster than last year is more fun. JMO
What do you have in mind Les?

Animal Engine Rules:
WKA Section 704 Briggs Stock Animal with the following exceptions:
-Connecting Rod can be changed with a World Formula rod.
-No restrictors required.
-Cosmetic items allowed that do not affect performance. Example: the new black cyl. plate that replaces the black plastic cover and the black rocker cover.
-New breather by-pass system allowed. Part #555688.
-Fire Ring Head Gasket allowed. Part #555698.
-Fuel: GasEverything else is as written and should help with cost.
Chassis rules to include weight, tire size, etc. to be posted within the club series rules.

ParticipantInfo bump…

ParticipantSo, I spoke with Brad today. We agree that the rules are WKA Jr. II based with the exception of the restrictor plates (none) and the connecting rod meaning you will have the option to install a World Formula rod if you want.
There are also several upgrades this year to the Animal. Some performance that are legal (pvl, breather bypass, etc.) and some cosmetic.
MG Tires are also required.
It also looks like I’ll be teching this year if needed so no cheating ❗
