ParticipantAwesome! ❗ I?m glad you GATORZ guys are making such a commitment to come have fun with us Mile High dudes. I met a few of you at South Bend ? seem like a great bunch. I trust you will like The Track and will find a friendly welcome.
Jim can provide specifics but unless he has had a chance to expand his operations (this is a new facility), he will have spec fuel but be light on oil, tires, Rotax parts, etc. So come prepared. There are a number of other shops in the Denver area that can provide you with almost anything you could need but you don?t want to spend your limited time running around.
As discussed in other threads you will likely run with the Mile High Rotaxians and TaG guys. It should make for interesting racing. If too many drivers sign up (nice problem to have) Jim has indicated he will separate the ?tax guys. Jim, if this scenario happens, can you run the out-of-state ?tax guys with the Mile High ?tax guys? I think that is what everyone would want even if they are scored separately for series points.
As promised, I?ll bring a free keg. Just remember to drive responsibly on and off the track. 😆

ParticipantYeah, Alaska rocks! They are hard core and do a lot of things at full throttle (not just racing). 😆

Yeah or something like that! Hey, I didn’t make it to your earlier Annual KartSport Grand Prix events but they sound cool. Maybe I’ll make a future event. Best of luck and have fun!

ParticipantAt this week?s city council meeting in Commerce City more than a hundred protesters showed up with lots of signs saying something to the effect of, ?No Nascar in Commerce City!? Do they know something we don?t? And if so, why would the non-racing community know more about this than the racing community?
As someone who has raced hundreds of times, helped others race and watched many races I can proudly say I love racing. It comes in all shapes and sizes but racing is racing. I?d love to see a Nascar track in Colorado.
I think Brad should sell his property to Nascar with a cause that allows him to race the #48 car with his tommy gun onboard. Just keep the kart and MX tracks open. CNS too!

ParticipantEnlighten me. What is the BS about? Hopefully not supermoto? If you watched any of the AMA national supermoto events held in Colorado the last several years you saw some incredible racing. Watching Ward, Henry and the other guys hang it out in the dirt, mud and pavement gets the blood flowing. It is a sport that takes amazing talent and provides great spectating. It makes me want to get my second half of a century old, decrepit body back on the pegs.
If it?s about another event scheduled to conflict with one of our local CSC events then I?m with you. That?s a bummer but there will always be scheduling conflicts with so much way cool racing that we have in this country. Having options beats the alternative. I?ll be at the CSC event in Grand Junction.

ParticipantI shared this on the other thread on ekarting but I will share it here too.
THANKS Jim! I definitely think you made the right call. Only the drivers who are interested in qualifying for the GN or out of state Rotax drivers will be running Mojos. Everyone will be competing on a level playing field and getting practice for the GN with those hard to learn Mojos. Practice and real life racing experience! Ill send my Rotax registration in today.
Runing with the Tag classes still sucks for guys like us who are running both your club series and the Mile High Series but so be it. Last year we tested our Jr Tag kart and Jr Rotax kart at your track on the same weekend and found the Tag kart to be more than a second faster (this doesn’t appear to be true for the Sr and Master classes). We’ll just treat the four Mile High events as throw aways for the local club series. Hell, there are eight more local races to get some points back. I would much rather have it this way then having to run the Rotax somewhere else.
Who knows? This may start some momentum and you may get so many Rotax drivers that you have to split them anyway. Wouldn’t that be a nice problem to have? Instead of having drivers complain about tires they will be compalining about where and how to mount their lights. Go figure. PS. My HID helmet lights are already race proven in Baja. Bring on the night racing!

ParticipantJoe, I still don’t understand your point. :idn: Since every kart crash I have seen involved a kart with the driver in it hitting another kart I don’t understand how a lighter kart with a heavier driver is any different than a heavier kart with a lighter driver if both setups are still the same total weight. If you are saying you simply want the overall weights lowered than you are suggesting that lighter drivers should get an advantage over heavier drivers. Do you feel heavier drivers are faster than lighter drivers and therefore need to be handicapped? :bs: If you want karts to weigh 5 pounds than I suggest you take up racing remote cars. But be careful, I hear they are very dangerous because of the speeds they can reach. :loony:

ParticipantJoe,
I would agree with you if the karts didn’t have drivers in them; i.e., remote controlled. However, karts are weighted with drivers and they are approximately the same weight (min weight for the class). Heavy driver with light kart equals light driver with heavy kart. I don’t see how one combination of weight is any safer or more dangerous than another.

ParticipantWhat an awesome race! I don’t know how one can like racing and not appreciate the talent and quality of racing NASCAR provides.

ParticipantSorry, Mike. I didn?t realize you had stepped forward. PLEASE run with the ball. I know you will do a great job. I?ll provide back-up support. I also have some serious scheduling challenges. Perhaps between the both of us we can ?get ?er done.?

ParticipantI will volunteer for the junior tag class. I think this is a great way to help new and interested racers come up to speed quickly. I?m not sure the liaison to track owners is as necessary simply because the track owners in this state are so approachable and, I believe, already highly in tune with the need and interests of karters. However, it is always nice to have a liaison path when new ideas and concerns arise.
Since I believe that at a junior level (if not all levels) karting should be more about friendly competition, camaraderie, and pure fun than wining at any cost, I would go a step further. I would be happy to plan and host some class events on and off the track. Having practice days at the track with class peers could really help the newbies come up to speed quickly and tighten the rest of the class by sharing racing tips among friends. It would also be fun to practice as a class. For juniors, in particular, having off track social time can help build the bond in this class as well as help meet some of the unique needs of teenagers.
This is a great idea, Angie. Unless somebody else wants this position or wants to share it, I will go ahead with plans regardless of whether we move forward on designating ?official? representatives. I don?t want to hog the ball but have no trouble moving it forward and shooting if no one else will.
I will start a list of class participants based upon last year. I will need to get contact information from you and be informed when someone new signs up or inquires about junior tag racing. Feel free to post and give out my name and contact information:

[email protected]This is still all informal but I?ll go ahead and announce the first junior tag class group practice session at the Track on Saturday, March 3, weather permitting. This is one week before the first Series event and may well prove to be the first time many will have a chance to be on a track. I?ll try to find an expert to come and talk to us about early season set-up, preparation and training. I?ll talk to Jim about saving an area where we can all pit together. More to follow (We?re not going to leave out the western slope folks!).

ParticipantThat might be taking skeet a little far but not too far for the protection of private property. I think we should all invest in that last anti-theft model for Brad. I think he already has the first two models covered! I wonder how long it would take for a jeep to burn to the ground.

ParticipantI know it may come as a surprise to some but not ALL Colorado karters read this forum. :idn: Of those who do I know some who are not ready to decide whether to run Rmax and, if so, where. CRE has announced its schedule, rules and qualifying proceedures but I don’t think anyone else has yet.
