The first GJMS club race has been moved to April 13th.(Please see below)

Sorry for the back and forth, Grand Junction Motor Speedway has decided race #1 will be Saturday April 19th. April 13th will be a test and tune day and if drivers want we can do a practice race.

I was debating racing TAG Senior in the RMPKC this year. They made the choice easy by banning the Rotax. The turnout for the Rotax classes was so low last year it would not be worth the entry fees to race this year.

For me my “big” race of the year will most likely be the Rotax shootout at Miller.

I guess no one is racing this year?

The million dollar question in karting, how to get people to actually show up.

Do you run with a lot of snow on the track? I just do not see the advantage of a skinny tire with tall knobs like the snow hog on a bare ice surface.

Went for a little hike today and got a picture of the lake with the track on it today.

Sounds fun, I have to work this weekend so I cannot make it. Thanks for the invite.

What have you done to prep your tires for the ice?

I need to stop being lazy and order up some Kold Kutter screws to make another set of tires.

I am well aware of SKUSA trying to level the playing field.

I thought I remembered a lot of the drivers in the RMPKC last year running Rotax. Not sure how many of them have a Leopard or Rok or will switch. The driver turnout was already on the low side and if you eliminate those running Rotax will it even be worth showing up?

I heard the news yesterday and I am still at a loss for words. Randy and the entire Cook family are such amazing people I can’t believe this happened.

The track is on a water ski lake near Basalt, CO. It is a private lake. I have to talk to the lake owner to see how many others I could have over. I know I could have a few here and there.

It is so much fun. Was out shoveling off a small hockey rink on the lake and looked at all the available ice and knew I had to try it.

Going to go to the track Saturday. Plan to get there between 10 and 11, and be there for most the day. Come on out and burn up some tires.

Both Tag classes were full of horrible driving. Bad enough to make me wonder if I want to risk my money racing supernats next year. SKUSA needs to really start cracking down on avoidable contact. It is sad that tag is where the worst drivers seem to be.

Another great weekend of racing to finish up the season. Great close/clean racing in all the classes even the rental class. I lost track of how many passes I made and times I was passed in the first heat. 9 tag drivers, 10 shifter, 8 rental, 2 kids and 3 junior. I could not have asked for a better first season in a kart. Thanks to Stacey and everyone at GJMS and CRG USA and everyone else that came out to race and help me with tuning and driving. Cannot wait to do it again next year!

For under my set I picked up some rubber motor mounts for a car. Very dense rubber over 2″ in diameter and over an inch thick. Figured since they can hold a motor in place in a car they would be fine for a seat with me in it.

Great fun weekend with some racing thrown in! Thanks to everyone that made the drive over the hills to come race. It was awesome having 14 TAG karts on the grid yesterday. Made for some fun racing with various karts on the track. Cody was a lot of fun to battle with on the track. Provided new challenges trying to pass with his kart having different strengths and weaknesses. Thanks to Louie Valasquez and family for the BBQ yesterday and bringing out the drivers for the rental class. Great to see them getting a chance to see why we love this sport!

I snapped a picture of the TAG final results. For quick reference since the mylaps site is so awesome.

Meant to get a pic of all the classes but was to distracted talking about all the fun we were having with everyone.

Cannot wait to do it all again November 10th!!

Edit: We going to run counter clockwise this time Stacey?

This is going to be a fun weekend. Should be a great turnout. Now the decision run TAG senior weight or masters weight??
