Why can’t both run in the same class. It seems that the k80’s that were blueprinted were just as fast as some of the animals. Can’t the rules change so both motors are on equal ground and let them run. Seems there are different motors for all other classes and if one is stronger put a limit on timing, carb or use a restrictor plate. In the CSC right now it didn’t seem right to have just 2 or 3 in the k80 class. I think they needed to be in the same class and either let them build there engines up a little or restrict the animals. Just my thoughts on this, tell me if there are any technical problems with this approach.

I thought the CSC was a state level series. Regional to me means several states in a region. That would mean several races out of state. Am I wrong here or am a missing something? :idn:

As a Jr1 Animal “Dad”, I wished I could make it to the meeting or at least get involved in the discussion a little more that I have (seem to be busy either getting ready for races or other stuff like work).

So far I have heard the K80, Honda, and a few pulling for the Animal to stay. These are the three that give us the most bang for the buck. Two of the three are actual racing motors (K80 and the Animal) and the Honda is an industrial motor (I am not knocking the Honda by any means but does it run past 4000 rpm? if it does, can the parts handle it? Will it run with the governer?). We have been to 4 races now and the Animals out number the box stock k80’s. I don’t know how many are out there that have not shown up to race. If we go to a Honda, we all have to either buy new engines or if they are supplied, the new racers need to purchase something to practice with. Either way we all buy something new. Is the K80 being phased out soon? I did here that a new K60 or C60 may be taking its place. If we go with the K80, do we buy a K80 going to buy and obsolite motor?

Why are some so bent on getting rid of the Animal engine for this class when there already 7 or 8 in the field right now? I know that several are going to move up or into another class but those karts and motors will be for sale and that will give someone a inexpensive way to get into racing. I have had several people come to me in the pits and say they are interested in getting their son or daughter and ask how much it cost us to get there. I told them less than $2000 they asked for more information on what we were running. I told them what we had and then unfortunally had to tell them that we were not sure if we can run this package next year. Now if I could tell them that there were a few karts for sale and you could get a good deal and race next season, we might get more kids out there. They seemed to be turned off by all the changes made every year.

I am seeing a bias in kart racing against B&S and I am not sure why. They seem to be making a very serious effort to mass produce an engine that is inexpensive and very easy to work on (even I can work on this thing after a few months with a little engine know how). If you like electric start, why not use a sealed World Formula engine with a restrictor plate in Jr1. It comes with a clutch, rev limiter, and header for around $1000. Remove the plate to practice going faster if you like. I could always use a World Formula or Animal on my kart in the “race with my son day” He really likes racing with me on test and tune days.

We have one or maybe two more years in the Jr1 class and really don’t want to buy anything new that I cannot use later. If they have the Animal or the supplied Honda (we can use our Animal for practice) in the Jr1 class next year, we are in for sure. If not, I am not yet sure what we will do.

By the way, I bought a brand new never run Animal for $250 bucks, threw a timing key and it seems to be running just fine with the rest of the field. Qualified 5th out of 8, and got 3rd at CSC #9 at The Track by just staying out there. Kinda cool and slippery
