I really hate it when people bash shifters or say they are a lot of maintenance, In the scheme of this I have only blown up one time as a shifter owner and never missed a race or broken down besides that one incedent I Believe if you keep up the maintenance and take care of your kart You will not have major issues, Get a Good Mechanic that can help you Like Barry Lewis and you will not face the issues that some have I can say I have a lot more friends that have tags that have more broken parts then myself. If you clean your kart regularly, Check all your nuts and bolts regularly Mix your oil/gas correctly and not over abuse your stuff reguardless the package it will give you countless hours of enjoyment. That is my .02 cents Enjoy,,, Karting rocks and our karting community is like a big family Pretty cool

Joe, you keep stating in many posts how expensive this rotax national event is Yes to some you may look at it like that but if you really look at what you get when you pay for the national event Tires Gas Food etc it all adds up for what the end result is Please look into what you get for the fee and you will see what you are paying for Hell I cant’ even come play because I have a shifter……..some can do it some can’t that is life If I got to play for 5 days with gas tires etc added in I would save my bucks so I could do it… There will always be other races other events it is all good

After watching some of the races and participating in the shifter race I see some passing in spots that should not be done “matt Burton a much faster driver than myself waited a couple laps found a passing point and past me safely” THANK YOU I knew you were there…….WE are not racing for anything but a trophy and fun If you do not feel confident and safe about a pass don’t do it

As much as I hate to say that a fellow karter and good friend did have to go to the hospital Don did suffer a compound fracture to his tibia and is suffering from some holes in his other leg as well as a bunch of wicked scrapes and his back is really hurting him Possible torn muscle. He had his first surgery that evening of the race and will have another on thursday. I went to visit him in the hospital today and he is in good spirits but soar and obviously done karting for the year. They want to stick a metal rod down his entire bone thursday Don is a great guy and came a long way this year unfortunately 2 karts got together and he took a beating. Don will be ok with time. Let this be a lesson to us all make sure you wear all your safety gear Thank GOD he was or he could have easily snapped his neck. Thanks for asking about him I appreciate it and so does he. We have a pretty cool group of racers in colorado and it is good we all look out for each other. Although we can get a little heated sometimes we all have to remember we are doing this for fun.

I just thought I would bring this back up after watching a video of a stars race from last year….. Bumping….. All I can do is laugph after watching the video they don’t bump in those races they inialate each other. I think that most feel lucky if they don’t come off the track without a side pod missing or something bent all out of wack.. Now that is what I call a hungry racer they were not intentianally taking each other out they just did what they had to do to win
