ParticipantTim,
I’d bet 90% of people use M rated helmets. (Total WAG.) Mostly because of the difference in cost, and availability.
BTW, I think the other difference on the SA helmets is that the eye opening is somewhat smaller. Argument I’ve heard is that racers don’t need as wide a field of vision as do motorcyclists on the road.

ParticipantGreg,
I’ve not looked into these carefully, but I find it hard to believe the air volume could be sufficiently less to really make much of a difference. But did you say that they’re also stiffer than normal wheels? Again, enough to make a difference? (We’re looking for more grip in the front of our Arrow, and haven’t yet found the solution.)

ParticipantRich,
You’re showing your years!! I wonder how many junior racers even know what bailing wire is! :rotate:
Joe Rosse
ParticipantTim,
FWIW, I’ve not heard of ANY kart sanctioning organization that requires SA-rated helmets. (At least for sprint racing.)

ParticipantThanks, Jason!

ParticipantWow–no ProKart barriers there!
So what’s with the 3-pedal system (about the 5 minute mark)?
Joe Rosse
ParticipantAngie,
It’s interesting that you have a direct link to the “other” website prominently displayed on your banner, but as far as I can tell, there’s no such link to the Colorado Karter on the other site (not even buried under Links).
Class act, as always, Angie!

ParticipantAnyone who wants to run Rotax, Easy Kart (or Hard Kart!), World Formula or K80 Junior–the last race of the season will be at CRE on Sunday. Come on out and play before the snow really starts to fly!
Joe Rosse
ParticipantWe’re already making huge progress by having this meeting in October–it would be a first to have rules, schedules, etc. worked out this early!! But Brad, is it Friday the 17th, or Saturday the 18th?
Joe Rosse
ParticipantMark,
I particularly liked that you called it “sprint karts”–finally, a term to help people who think of concession karts when they hear “go karts.” Great job!
Joe Rosse
ParticipantGlad to hear the kart’s in pretty good shape, but how about Greg? No bruised ribs, or worse, I hope?!
Joe Rosse
ParticipantBut that’s only for the subset of drivers who run the IAME Challenge, right? (Then again, maybe the free Leapord offer for Junior and Masters also applies only to the IAME Challenge race??)
Joe Rosse
ParticipantHey Stacey! Previously you posted that the winner of the Masters class would get a new Leapord package, and now you’re saying that Junior and Minis get one too. So what about the Senior drivers–are they chopped liver?! 😉
Good news about the MG tires, though.
Joe Rosse
ParticipantStacey,
The fuel-oil voucher indicates that VP MS-98 fuel must be used, and that at least 4 oz of oil/gallon must be used. What about for Rotaxes? As you know, we normally use MS-93, and 2.5 – 2.9 oz of oil (for 44:1 to 50:1 ratios). 4 oz is a 30:1 ratio–WAY higher than Rotax ever recommended, even back a couple years ago when they were worried about engine failures (and in the midst of summer).
Joe Rosse
ParticipantWow, Mitch, that was quick. You and Angie must be in competition for how quickly you can post results and pix. 😀 Lots of great shots there.
