ParticipantBy far the best race I have been to so far! Well ran and GREAT facility!!!!! The time spent cleaning the restrooms and the overall maintenance of the track you can tell the owners/operators take major pride in their track!! Thank you so much for the great weekend! Can’t wait for round 3, let’s hope I can actually finish the main in a decent position. lol :bang

ParticipantRichard, I saw the outside iirc build up with stuff. I am thinking more of a camber change and tire pressure adjustment should clean those tires off. Based on what I am seeing on my duro tires and wear. I seem to be able to read duro tires better than MG Reds but this might help. A tire is a tire. lol

ParticipantRichard, iirc didn’t you say you had a Margay? And wasn’t it like a newer version? If so I have a Brava 4.15 and it passes all tech I have raced in both series without any issues. If I am incorrect in remembering please disregard.
But yes, someone should be able to get you all setup.

In my position, I see all the racers when they come off the track. I have to say that I think the LO206 adults have more fun than I can remember of any race group I’ve seen. No matter how far back in the pack, there are high fives and back slapping from one and all. My impression is they just want to race someone. Winning and outright speed are not the issue, it’s the wheel to wheel action they crave. The fact that the motor requires no tuning and the chassis requires minimal tuning just adds to the excitement. I saw 10 year old chassis right in the middle of the battles.
Most of these guys have to go to work on Monday and the LO 206 on a hard tire doesn’t beat them up. No sore ribs come Monday morning. With the duro tire, you only need one set for the year. The motor lasts all year with only regular oil changes. I don’t know how you could make racing any cheaper yet so equal. It is exactly the right class for the adults who want to race but not spend much money. A big wallet is of no use in this class.
The racing is a joy to watch. There are packs of 3-4 racers all over the track. Passing is constant, often 2 or 3 times per lap, side by side through multiple corners the norm. Sometimes 3 wide. Kind of makes me wish I was racing and not watching.
For sure!!! This has been what I have tried to say before but just couldn’t find the words like you have Doug! Thank you! I mean I finished in 4th place in the heat race on Sunday and watched the top 3 have an epic battle. I was like just keep battling I am catching up!! lol We have SO much fun out there!!! I mean even the Saturday practice where everyone was helping everyone else get faster. That is what a community is all about! Thanks for spelling it out exactly what makes these Lo 206’s so fun! I mean I even got spun out (racing incident no hard feeling to all involved) and yet still had a BLAST trying to catch up to everyone. It is ALL about the racing and not winning. I mean I race in the light class weighing in at 360 on the scales. I know I am not going to win but if I can get up there with the top 3 that is my goal. It’s all about goals and self improvement and helping others in this class. So happy to be a part of it!

:usa: :co Yes, saw the great racing and adult numbers Since you have raced on the Mg reds would you kart have been quicker and easier to tune? Great to see Greg in a lot of karts.
Just a minor question not looking for a full om debate.

303 242 2929I have raced(a couple rust off races and practice) on stickier tires than the MG reds before. Not much different than any other tire. Setup is the key for anything. I can make the duros act just like MG reds or any other tire. The only difference in my opinion is the lap times. 😉 I think duro tires even out the field a little more than a stickier tire. Allows the setups to be a little more broad. Stickier tires require more fine tuned setups to work at their peak. Duro’s allow any driver to show up and be fast with minimal setup. Now, to run with the top guys setup totally matters for the Duros but at least you don’t need as much as a stickier tire. For a class like the Lo206 that prides itself in low cost of entry adding a stickier tire just doesn’t add the fun factor that a Duro tire does. IMHO. 🙂 Don’t get me wrong, I love the MG Series racing and had a BLAST but when you have 21 (updated count) show up to a race when the week before we only had 9. Speaks volumes in what the community really wants to see. 🙂 Just my humble opinion based on the data that has been presented so far. I hope both series grow as each adds a different FUN factor that I know I am looking for! If I want to race in nationals MG tires are the way to go. If I want to race on the cheap and still have the same amount of fun I put on the Duro’s. They each have their place. 🙂

Yes, Greg, that is awesome news! Congrats! This is going to be a great track! I can’t wait!!!! Really happy this track is coming back. I see rentals are coming in 2017 based on what I read. Any chance to allow Test and Tunes sooner? Also maybe even a race for either CSC or CKT? Would love to see any or all of those happen this year but understand if you can’t due to insurance reasons or something.
From the article: “the track will be open to customers with their own karts and equipment on or before July 1, 2016”
Haven’t talked to Greg specifically about it so don’t know anymore detail than that. But I know they want to open for test and tune as soon as possible.
Thanks Jeff, 🙂 I saw that and I think I made my edit right when you replied with this. oops. lol This is awesome news!

Not sure how I missed that… Must have been when I first read it I was also doing a deployment so I was distracted. lol yeah, that is the excuse I am going with… lol :loco

ParticipantHey All, I am looking to get my registration in and call John in regards to pit spaces here in the next couple weeks. I would like to see if we could all pit around the same area for those of you that will be going to Nationals. If you would like to join forces to see about getting a package deal or something for pit spaces let me know. I would like to call John before this month is over. Please come by my pits at SBR this weekend if you would like to talk details. You can also give me a text/call or private message on these forums. My number is 720-333-1334.
http://www.ikfkarting.com/OfficePages/PDFs/Forms/2016-GN-4CycleSprintEntryForm.pdf Here is the updated Registration sheet with all the information. I have already booked hotel at the LaQuinta Inn $99 a night for the race weekend and if you call soon the rate for Monday/Tuesday are the same. Just let them know you are with NTK IKF and the dates and they should find it. Call 940-808-0444 to set that up.
Really looking forward to my first national race. I have been to other national type competitions (racing (rc car) and music (Euphonium)) but this will be my first real kart race big event. Would really like to see a lot of familiar faces and to help each other out. Make this enjoyable for all.

ParticipantAgreed! Safety is the up most importance. I would like to add with the other vehicles that we include karts too. This means no driving in the pits and only in the “Hot” pit area. I am guilty of this and need to stop it as it is a safety concern if I drop concentration or someone else isn’t paying attention. I know it’s nice to drive your kart to your pits but you have a kart stand. Use it 😉 Besides your tires will stay cleaner.

ParticipantHaven’t received anyone for my promotion as of yet. Still open if you would like to take advantage of this deal.

ParticipantI like the idea. Seems to really reflect racing to get your spot instead of setting up the kart to run a fast lap and then change it slightly for the race. Though, there isn’t much you can really change to make it faster compared to a race. lol Maybe less fuel to get a fast lap in? 😉
I remember at the track we had something similar when the timing system had some technical problems. We didn’t get an extra race at that time based on what I remember but it was fun to pass people and what not.
I like the idea of separating the weights with this too. Have all the lights with the lights and all the heavy’s with the heavy’s. Sounds great! I mean they are still running at the same time but line up all the lights together and all the heavy’s together. Great idea! 🙂
jdavis-403
Participantlol For sure!
Happy Mothers day everyone!
