ParticipantOur track will run CCW for round 4 and CW for round 8. We flip direction around every two weeks.
For around a week and a half to two weeks before each event we will exclusively run in the direction of the race.
Feel free to call the track at any time for current availability and track direction.

ParticipantDaniel,
I believe that especially for your first kart purchase, you will find an invaluable amount of help by buying it from someone that can support it locally and help you at the races. The learning curve in this sport is steep, and having someone on your side to help you learn the driving, mechanics, and the other ins and outs will be highly beneficial.
We sell and service karts (Compkart and Tony Kart) at the track, Dustin Courter runs an Intrepid Dealership in CO, Action Karting, GJMS, SBR, and IMI could all also be good resources. My advice would be to talk to as many shop owners/people as you can on the phone or in person and buy locally with whoever you feel the most comfortable with or feel you will get the most support from. At the end of the day I don’t think you can go wrong with a local dealer, but I do believe that buying any product from out of state just to save a few dollars will end up costing you more in the long run.

ParticipantMy advice is to utilize wall space. Things are a lot cleaner and you’ll find the space a lot more usable the more things are on the wall. Hang a tire rack, a chemicals/fluids holder, and run a couple strips of e-track down both sides. You’ll be able to secure canopies, chassis, chairs, tables, etc to the wall instead of having them bounce around on the floor.
Building some form of workbench with cabinets in the front to fill the “V” space would be good, my old trailer had a V-nose and it was always awkward trying to get things to fit up there, I would have been much happier with some cabinets.

ParticipantIf the axle is new we can swap you at for a shifter axle which is keyed for Briggs. If you want to get it machined IMI can do it on site (ask for Ron) or I can take care of it for you, just takes a couple days as I do the work off-site.

ParticipantThe stock Honda engine we use is 99 cases, 96 transmission, and 01 cylinder. This way, we get the 6 speed transmission instead of the 5 speed which has been sold since 97+
You can buy a brand new kit engine from Honda HPD that has all the parts needed to assemble a kart engine minus the power valve plugs. Plugging the power valves on an 01 is tricky to say the least. I believe the kit sells for around $2,400, then you have to assemble it, add power valve plugs and install, add electronics, carb, pipe, silencer etc. They end up north of 4k typically.
$1,200 for an old dirt bike isn’t comparing apples to apples. That is used market, hammered tired, and a category that is now extinct in dirt bike racing. If people still raced the 125s they would be worth more. If you built a brand new engine for that bike it would cost the same as building a brand new engine for the kart

ParticipantWe carry the Kartlift brand. Don’t stock the Winchlift but we can get them in a week and cover the shipping. Call us at the track on Monday. 720-484-4410

ParticipantWe can handle the engine rebuild in house or work with Swedetech for you. We have worked with those guys a lot in the past and use them for our national engines. They are a great resource if you want dyno tuned engines. Give us a shout at the shop and we can walk you through the ins and outs, ask for me or Charlie. 720-484-4410

ParticipantEddy you better come race one of the nights too! The twin engine kart is pretty epic.

ParticipantSend it back to AIM Sports in CA. They may warranty it and if not the repair cost should be reasonable.

ParticipantWe should have Duro back in stock this week. I’ll put a post up here when they come in. I ordered a much larger qty this time in hopes of not running out immediately like what happened the last two times.

ParticipantSounds to me like you should move seat and/or change seat compounds (yes, again). When we work on a new type of chassis or work with a new chassis brand we typically move the seat 4-5 times before we get it right.
Call Margay and ask for the recommended seat specs.
The only Margay I have worked with is Tim Trostel’s, and we had two different compounds of seats and ran each one in 2 locations before we found something we were happy with.

ParticipantLeo,
I’ll try to go run it tomorrow and let you know a starting point on gear. It actually should be pretty close to east half track as it does not have as tight of corners, but has shorter straights.
