ParticipantDing, ding, ding, ding, ding…..
We have a winner.
Yes Rick, and all others up in arms, that is what happened.
When the Marsell brothers begged out, they started going down the list to fill the spots. Cooksey was in based on his third spot already, so they needed to fill 2 spots. They went down the list and got to the 7th place finisher to fill the second spot. After that, I do not know how far they went, but at some point they decided to give Joey the spot. Although he didn’t start the DD-2 final, I think that they gave Joey the spot because of what happened to him in the Sr. Max final. He was a front runner all week and then got flat run over by Wes Phillips in the Sr. Max final.
Right or wrong, that is what happened.
Joey gives us (the USA) a better shot at a good finishing spot than someone who finished 15th at Centennial, don’t you think?
The thing that drives me crazy is that some of the same people who complain every year to me that we need to send some drivers to the Worlds that give us a chance to do well, are the same people that are complaining the loudest at Joey’s selection. It seems that the plan is only a good plan if their kid is the one chosen.

Hey guys,
In the Rotax series. I doubt the california boys brought their highest level motors to size us up. Is everyone showing up with massaged motors? Is Roman going to be the only stock motor (provided we qualify of course) I’m starting to feel like were bringing a knife to a gun fight. Do these motors really have an advantage? Are we wasting time and money to think we can compete?
While this thread is fun to watch, please do not include any of us interlopers in the cannon fodder.
To address your post:
Waqar (the winner) brought his one motor to Colorado. It is the one that was on his kart, because without it, he wouldn’t go very far.
Ian (the TonyKart that went offroading) has 2 motors. The one that was on his kart was broken in the weekend before we came up there. It was brand new and out of the box when it was placed on the kart.
Gary (the CRG with terrible luck) has 3 motors and 3 chassis. He seemingly runs in circles trying to find “the setup”, as if the solution to his woes are anywhere else but in the driver’s seat. We have tested all three of his motors and chassis and have found the difference to be negligible. All the motors run in the same tenth. Now, if I could just get Gary to do the same.
I (#51 birel) brought my two motors. I run these and also use them as rentals. I own 2 chassis and 2 motors that I use for this purpose. If I am not racing it, it is being rented and vice versa. In fact, my other chassis was being used by Frank Powell in the International class when we came up there. One I have owned since it was brand new and ran it for an entire year before I rebuilt it. I ran it at the Regionals in August, the Nationals and the endurance race we won. The other came in as a trade in as a Jr. I got in a bind and cobbled it together with some parts a few months ago and turned it into a Sr. package. Both motors run in the same tenth.
In Rotax racing, the time is in the driving, the chassis and the carburetor. Unless it is just godawful and wornout, the motor is just along for the ride.

ParticipantSo, the MiniMax that I am bringing up next weekend should bring his complete selection of 13/82 gears?

ParticipantSo, plane and hotel reservations have been made, gas money has been collected and plans are set.
Myself, Waqar Meyer, Ian Thomas and Gary Pesner are coming for Masters. Frank Powell is coming to race Sr. Max and Dakota Dickerson is coming to race MiniMax.
I am trying to rally more to come, but this is who I have so far.
Trailers and planes arrive Friday night. We will be at The Track on Saturday morning.
What time does The Track open Saturday, March 31st?
We are bringing our Mojos. That was a good decision to spec them.

ParticipantThe GATORZ guys are coming on March 31-April 1st.
The rooms are booked and the trip arrangements are made.
Is there anything we should know about fuel, tires, entry, practice, etc. ?

ParticipantAny resolution on this?
We were planning on bringing some folks up to race with you guys, but the tire deal has already caused people to drop out.
What is the minimum number of competitors needed to put the Rotax guys on MOJOs?
Please see this thread, especially the posts near the end.

ParticipantDoug,
No need to go to Florida, I live in California.
I was at the PKC opener on Saturday.
We have the Ken Johnson Charity Enduro this Saturday.
Then, as that isn’t enough…
My GATORZ opener is the 20th!
I have enough to do.
Wait until you see the entry list from our opener……
