ParticipantDaniel,
Correct, it has indeed. However, we do always encourage and welcome additional volunteers!

ParticipantInteresting article for sure. I’m curious exactly how enforcable knowing the serial number of certain engines is regarding all the components in the engine?
Time will tell, this was a very unfortunate situation for pretty much everyone involved. The reaction by most people that comment on that article has been positive, I personally wasn’t super impressed with the severity of the witch hunt by parties that weren’t directly involved towards those in the article, even if the suspension and penalties are justified.
Ultimately, SKUSA took their time to address the issue, and moving forward it will be interesting to see. As Swift engines and SKUSA in general isn’t very prevalent in the CO region, I’m not sure how much impact it will have upon us in the immediate future.

ParticipantRodney,
Glad you like the rule. I use “us” because TCK isn’t just one person running it—it’s a few at different times. We do this because not a one of us can be online all the time throughout the day. Most of the time, it is me that is posting and “admin-ing” through The Karter admin account.
Keymaster denotes that The Colorado Karter account is the master site account. It allows me to post site updates, monitor forum traffic, and generally improve the site.
The keymaster account is not adjustable, meaning I can’t change the title…but, Ill do my best to post a little byline after posts in the future!

ParticipantHey mah44,
The short answer to your question is likely yes if you would like to go out to the track to play and have fun on a practice day or just open lapping.
However, if you’re looking to partake in competitive kart races, a chassis that dated likely would take far more investment to update to modern specifications than to simply consider a used kart of a more modern date.
If you were looking for something within the realm of the speed of the KT100 (which is not an engine that is commonly used in competitive races currently within the region), I would recommend considering the Briggs & Stratton LO206. It is slightly slower, but is simple to maintain and provides great racing.
It’s great to see you reaching out on the forums after being out of kart racing for so long!

ParticipantHey Nolan,
First and foremost, welcome to Karting! Karting is a great form of motorsport.
A 206 is a great class to start with. The engine is reliable and straight forward to work on, and has great parity, with parts easily available from many sources in CO as well as nationally.
The Karter has several resources you may find helpful as you continue to learn about Karting. There are “how to” videos, technical resources documents, and a “new to Karting” section as well.
With a starting budget of 2-3 k, a 206 package is well within range.
There are several racing series within the region, and you can learn more about these by visiting the “contact: racing series” tab on here. In 2018, some series will be one-track specific, while others will go to multiple tracks across the state.
If you’d like to chat further about specific questions, post them here, or shoot me an email at: [email protected]

ParticipantCody,
+1 to what Greg said, awesome if he can honor the swap.
Ron at IMI also does great machine work on axles.

ParticipantSike,
Finding the right kart for you can take a little research. But, fortunately there are a lot of experts within the region. I’d suggest reaching out to several of the tracks and “pro shops” around the area if you’d like to get different opinions on the right kart for you. As you are new, likely a decent used kart may be the best option, but your own research will tell you best!

ParticipantDoug,
The ‘img’ button at the top of your reply/text field window allows you to post image URL’s, which is similar to The Karter’s previous use.
I will look further into BBpress forums and so on to see if I can install a file upload plugin, but I’m wary of that…opens the door to shady stuff being uploaded.
I’ll also look to see if there is another version of the “Recent Replies” widget that is more catered to the user experience you had before, although I suspect there may not be. For now, this is the solution I have found, but I will keep looking!

ParticipantAlright, Recent replies are now alongside recent topics in the footer of the home page. Putting them on the side bar makes the website appear a little strange. So for now this is the best solution.
Thank you Doug and Rodney for the input!
