    Hello racing fans!!!

I have been looking to get into this fun filled exciting sport of karting. The Lo206 class is where I would like to start and eventually go up to the Rotax class. Living up in the mountains makes it a bit harder to stay in touch with the community so I figured I should put a message on this site so hopefully my name can be tossed around the community a bit and maybe help find me the right chassis for me!! I am really excited to be part of this new “family” of racers. I am a total newbie to this Motorsport stuff and any help or tips is greatly appreciated. You guys and gals are great and hope to see you on the track!!

    Hey Sike,

Welcome to the forums! We are happy you are interested in the sport of karting in Colorado.

In Colorado, the LO206 class is quite popular, and a great class to start racing in to learn the ropes.

As a new racer, I would recommend you bounce around the site. In particular, I suspect that the Classifieds would be a great place to put a post requesting people to reach out if they have/know of a used kart for sale within the region. Under the “New To Karting” Tab, taking a read through Karting 101 may help you get your feet wet with the basics of the sport.

Lastly, consider reaching out to the respective racing series here in Colorado, which you can find listed under the ‘Contact’ tab.

As this ‘re-vamp’ of the site is pretty new, some resources are not online just yet. However, our resources tab grows daily, with websites and points of contact throughout the state as well as online.

If you are looking for something super specific, reach out to us at: [email protected], and we can likely point you to a person that is an expert on the topic.

Karting is a fun, challenging sport. Welcome!

Great class to learn racecraft in. Your budget will be the determining factor as to what to get. Lot of options out there. Probably best to get a 4 cycle specific chassis unless you want to use the same one for TaG later. Most chassis will work with the LO206, but some can have some clearance issues with the inboard clutch.

Oh very good! Thank you guys for all the help and info!!  I think I would like to try and keep the same chassis if I go up to the TaG class. For now I just need to find that right kart.

    Sike,

Finding the right kart for you can take a little research. But, fortunately there are a lot of experts within the region. I’d suggest reaching out to several of the tracks and “pro shops” around the area if you’d like to get different opinions on the right kart for you. As you are new, likely a decent used kart may be the best option, but your own research will tell you best!

Look for a 30mm tag chassis with LO206 mounted on it used.  If you can find someone quiting, you can usually get a good deal on a total package with gear, parts, etc.  Easiest way to get into the sport.  Otherwise, it will nickel and dime you to death getting all the things you need.
