Brad and Cris, you have it all wrong!!

Here is my proposed class structure, I think EVERYONE will agree.

    1. Stock Honda Master
    2. Stock Honda Jr
    3. 4 stroke shifter
    4. TaG Master
    5. 4 stroke shifter master light
    6. TaG Sr
    7. TaG Jr
    8. 4 stroke TaG shifter with dirt kart body work
    9. Mini Max
    10. Micro Max
    11. Electric 4 stroke golf cart
    12. DD2 Master
    13. DD2
    14. 8 Gear 64 Horsepower 4 stroke shifter with 18 inch rear wheels
    15. Kid Kart
    16. 50cc Pit bikes
    17. Mechanics race (on foot)
    18. 4 stroke kid kart

Thats 18 classes. Now while the two most popular and SUCCESSFUL karting organizations (SKUSA and Rotax) have less than half this amount each, I think its the perfect number. :new

    Oh and I forgot one,

    19. Open Class

I gotta go shovel the snow. It just keeps piling up, sort of like this the great ideas in this thread.

    This is sad news.

I got to know Rusty through events like the Greeley Grand Prix, and the Littelton GP.

Just like most everybody in COLO karting, Rusty and I had our confrontations.

He was a great man, and I thank him for the time he put into his races, karting in general, and trying to settle down an at times agressive TaG Jr racer.

    God Speed Rusty.

    SKUSA RMPKC Rounds 5&6.

A great two days of racing this past weekend caps off a great year of SKUSA in Colorado and Utah with the final two rounds of the RMPKC at GJMS.
The theme for the season, as well as the weekend: Quality over quantity.

The return of the Border wars was a sparked some of the best racing all year, with Utah looking to defend their title from two years ago which saw Johnny Lindquist, Austin Versteeg and Keenan Schmitke win if for the Salt Lake state. Could Utah repeat?
With one point available in each official on track session, the only thing that mattered was being P1 at the checker flag in your class. One point for pole, one point for heat race wins, and one point for the main win set up a better chance of victory for the state with the higher number of racers.

Mini Max kicked off the weekend with a dominant Tevin Robbins coming off a solid weekend in Utah back in June at rounds 3&4. Robbins set the tone early in qualifying going over a full second faster than fellow Utah racer, Birel pilot Duncan Biles. In the heats it was all Robbins as he walked away from the field, leaving Biles to hold off Colorado’s Max Fedler on the Unser Racing Sodi kart. The main was nothing more than 15 laps of practice for Robbins as he came across the line 13 seconds ahead of Biles for the main event win. Robbins with his perfect day scored four points for Utah.
Sunday was Robbins chance to score a perfect weekend. He started out on the right track securing pole again. But from the start of the day it was very noticeable that Duncan Biles and co. had made significant changes to the kart. Biles went from being over a second behind Robbins son Saturday, to only two tenths off on Sunday. In the first heat Biles was able to stick with Robbins really applying the pressure for the chance to earn Utah the point towards the border war. Robbins secured the win by less the four tenths of a second over the Birel driver. With only two on track sessions left before Robbins secured his perfect weekend, Biles showed up and took the lead away from the Tony Kart at the white flag. Biles upset Robbins for the second heat race win. Now with his perfect weekend out of his reach, Robbins went for broke in the main. After a great start, Robbins returned to form and lead every lap of the main to secure the win five seconds over Biles.

S3 was all Utah as the two racers entered both raced both had the letter U next to their numbers. Chris Neria posted the fast time in the combined S3/S4/S5 class, taking the overall poll in Saturday qualifying. After outrunning S4 leader Jet Davis to the checkers by nearly four seconds in the first heat, Neria had a mental lapse in the second heat causing him to DNF. After falling behind Davis at the lights, while trying to chase Jet down, coming out of the very tight right handed turn three on lap six, Neria spun himself losing all his ground to the leaders. When asked the reason for the spin “Jet Davis” Neria said, “He got in my head. Davis intimidated me”.
After getting through his mental demons regarding Davis, Neria came from the back to take the lead on lap 15 and win the overall class.
Sunday started with a pole in class for Neria, but a second overall as he was beaten by Jet Davis for the inside row one spot on the grid. Neria grabbed the lead on lap one to win the first heat. The second heat saw Neria run the table again. The main was no different as Lauren Stark who had limited practice time raced in the back with S4 drivers, giving Neria the win in class, as well as the overall win. Nerias plan after the race “Im going to Disney Land” The S3 champ said. After Neria’s perfect weekend, and Stark picking up the heat #1 win add 8 more points to Utah’s total.

S4 was physical all weekend. Scotty Allen out ran teammate and friend Jet Davis for the class pole. The first heat saw Colorado get on the board in the border war with Jet Davis winning the heat race earning CO their first point. Heat number two went to Davis again with Doc Conyers coming home second in class. The main was the last thing Davis could have asked for. After getting beat by Conyers in to turn one on the inside, Davis made it to the back straightaway before his throttle cable came apart, ending his day. Conyers would stretch out his lead with Davis sitting on the sidelines. Conyers went on to win the main, and cut heavily into Davis’s point lead. Sunday Davis stepped up in a big way. Outrunning the entire field, including lighter and younger S3 driver Chris Neria for the overall pole. A fast time in qualifying would not guarantee Davis an easy day though. At the lights on the first heat race Davis clutch cable came apart, causing him to drop from P1 at the start. Davis would make up the ground, but not enough to catch the 33 of Conyers. Conyers would pick up points for CO, points in the championship race, and the heat win with Davis in second. In the second heat Davis was able to capitalize on Conyers misfortune and pick up the win, while Conyers had a mechanical DNF. With Conyers starting in the back Davis was able to breath easy before the start of the main, that is if he didnt realize that a motor side seat strut was broken as he left the grid for the main. After contact beween Scotty Allen and Justin Peck in turn one at the start, Davis checked out on the field while chasing Neria. A few laps in Davis began to back off. “I wanted to get a good lead, and then slowed down” Davis said. With just a few laps remaining and the win in the bag, Davis avoided all curbs and rough spots on the track, nursing the #22 home for the win, and championship.

S1 and S2 ran together as well this weekend. In S1 it was the Mike Beeny show. Besides a mechanical black flag for a dragging rear bumper in heat number two on Sunday, Beeny had a perfect weekend, scoring both main event wins.
S2 was a little more eventful. After arriving in GJ at one in the morning returning from The Colorado School of Mines, and battling a nasty cold Sabre Cook was the fastest S2 driver on the track, beating Christian Bird for the pole by four one hundredths of a second.
After a near stall at the start of heat one, Cook was able to get back up to second in class, with Bird picking up the win. The second heat didnt go any better for Cook. With the kart actually dieing at the light, Sabre’s tuner waved her in giving the win again to Bird. The main saw Bird get the hole shot over Beeny to lead every lap and score the win, while Cooks bad luck continued. While trying to overtake Christian Schureman in turn four, the two made contact sending Cook wide off the track.
They say tomorrows a new day, not for Sabre Cook. Sunday started off worse than Saturday ended. Contact with Keenan Schmitke in the uphill esses early in the first heat bent everything but the back bumper on Cook’s CRG. Bird who had led every lap of the first heat was half a lap away before a broken rear gear ended his race, giving the S2 win to Jack Bradley. The second heat saw Bird march from the back to score the win with Cook salvaging a third overall, second in class.
The main event saw Cook drive possessed. Making moves, and throwing the kart into places it didn’t belong with out crashing out impressed, but she never was able to move higher than third on track. The last lap saw Bird lose the overall lead to Mike Beeny. As Bird watched Beeny pull away, Cook mounted a charge for the ages. As they came out of the last corner coming to the checkers Cook dove all the way to the inside pulling up along side Bird. At the line Bird was able to hold her off and win the race, along with the S2 championship.

TaG Cadet saw Riley Cook have a perfect weekend, as well as Brandon Southwick and Austin Versteeg in Sr and Jr.
TaG masters saw Phil Holmes dominated Saturday before he headed back to Utah that night. In hopes to secure the border wars for Utah, shifter pilot and S4 racer Bonnier Moulton enter in Holmes kart and race in TaG Masters. Moulton brought home max points and the win in masters.

At the end of the weekend, Utah defended their 2010 title, and left with the Border War trophy.

Welcome back everyone to day two of SKUSA RMPKC racing at GJMS!

Today is the 6th and final round of the 2012 RMPKC series.

Yesterday provided great racing in most classes. The stock honda programs providing the best action of the day.

Heading into today, Utah leads the Border War currently 20 pts, to Colorado’s 16. There were rumors floating through the pits last night that inactive Utah pilot, Bonnier Moulton was going to enter in TaG Masters just to boost the chances of Utah. It also sounds like fellow MSquared and Utah pilot Mike Beeny is going to sign up for a second day of racing today, just to try and bring the trophy back to mother land Utah!

We are set to go live at the start of qualifying at 9:50 today.

The order remains the same as yesterday
    1. Mini Max
    2. S3/S4/S5
    3. S1/S2
    4. TaG Cadet
    5. TaG Jr/ Sr/Master

Just a reminder the web address is http://www.livestream.com/skusarmpkc (thanks again Brad Linkus)

    Lets go racing!
