What an awesome weekend in Las Vegas.

Firstly, congrats to both Hannah, and Adam for spirited drives. Hannah was charging literally all weekend in a STACKED Mini Max field. Gunnar, Lynette, and Rick, you guys have done a hell of a job with that driver. She is on it. 2016 is going to be HUGE for her.
Adam, it was great meeting you. Seriously way to represent Windsor. That is cooler to me than youll know. We gotta meet up in December when Im back in NOCO. Lets go show people that trophy!

This past week in Vegas was a ton of fun. It was great to see alot of Coloradoan’s make their way out. Kids like Schimmel and Bird tuning for some of the big names. You had Stacey with CRG/Energy Kart USA put drivers on the podium. And to boot, the Welch brothers were back together in Vegas at the Rio. The history was everywhere last week. Hell, you even had a few Coloradoans on the other side of the fence with Mike Edwards keeping things on the up and up in Tech.

Im not going to sit here and tell you what I think is going to happen with karting as a result of the ‘war’ between Maxspeed and SKUSA. I have worked for both. They have great people, and great racing at each event. Tom K and SKUSA have been doing this so long. But Richard and Maxspeed are doing more events and hitting it harder than I ever expected. Greg Welch and I discussed it, and I am starting to buy in to Greg’s theory. The two fighting may cause some fraction and difference of opinion, but in the end it is resulting in two promotions companies (SKUSA/Maxspeed Entertainment) competing to bring the BEST product to the karter. Maybe there doesn’t have to be a winner.

The race at the Rio this past week had such a unique and fun vibe to it. It will be fun to see what Tom and SKUSA to later this month.

Now what does Colorado have to do to get a region back together? Im in Utah this week, and I know there is considerable interest over here to make a joint state region.

    Stan said it best.

Lee and Ivy are a great group of people, who have taken what used to be CRE, and have made it a heck of a facility that is now proudly SBR Motorsports.

I will be honest and level with all of you on this forum. When Stan called me and asked me what he thought of us (The RMPKC) holding a race at SBR in Calhan, I thought he was crazy. With no disrespect to Lee, Ivy or anyone else, I did not believe that SBR could adequately host a regional event like the RMPKC.

I was (for probably not the last time) very wrong. After four years away from CRE, Lee has done a heck of a job turning CRE into SBR.

It is no secret that we did not have the entries that a race like this deserved. Go look at the mylaps, and you will see that. However, despite the low entries and small fields, the SKUSA staff (Stan, Shelby, and Laura) put in hours of work, and made this event better than Id ever expected it would have been. From the cookout Friday night, to Stan challenging the tuners to a rental kart race Saturday night I had a blast.

Oh yea, and how bout SKUSA GIVING AWAY an entry to this years SuperNats??? I mean, as much as Id love to race for a Briggs Motor and all, a free trip to the SuperNats sounds just a tad better. But then again, what do I know? I just read a book about karting once, thats all.

The fact that we had plenty of racers verbally commit to this race only to not show up speaks about the poor health of Colorado karting, and it is sad to see. What is NOT sad to see is how much fun those who did attend SBR this weekend had. I for one truly do feel bad for those of you who chose not to make this race this past weekend.

We’ll see you at the next one, or not. Either way Im gonna keep enjoying the best racing this state is going to offer.

Stan, great job this weekend. And thank you to all the drivers and teams who did support this event, after saying you would!

    See ya all in Junction.

    That’ll do it from GJMS!

Certainly not the entries we would have hoped for, but honestly some great shifter kart racing this weekend.

Thanks to all of our teams for coming out and racing, and thanks to you at home for staying updated this weekend.

    See you all at SBR!!

Brewer charges to the inside of Flores on lap one in turn five, and makes contact. Brewer slides off the racing line and loses a lot of ground to the leaders. Flores lays down consistent laps and checks out on Rudolph.

Tase Flores leads early. Marlot challenges for lead first five laps, takes it away in T10 at halfway. Hugh Templeman in S4 comes on very strong, averages lap times 1.5 seconds quicker a lap then S2 racers. Takes overall P2 away from Flores with two to go. Leads for part of final lap, before Marolt takes it back. Terrific racing to the line.
