    Well said, both of you.

Best to You, AJ, and sorry to see you go! But you’re sure heading to the right town, racing and shops everywhere, and the right place for your career. Opportunity knocks and you’re wise to answer. Best!

Please say Hi to your Dad for us also… and Be Good, Don’t Change! :rotate:

I’ve seen both of those videos, unbelievable isn’t it?

My brother saw one of them actually running at an event somewhere or another.

Bet it sounds sweet on the Limiter — if such a limit is worth the risk of finding! :rotate:

    Hey, All Right!

:bang Classic Bernie, get ’em to spend, Large, make ’em sweat, ask for more dough, etc., etc. :loony:

Regardless, great news! Thanks for posting it, Jon. :green

    Eric,

Sabre’ started the final in 4th but got pushed out on the start and dropped to 12th. She charged back to 6th and with a half lap to go the chain jumped off the sprocket. It was a heartbreaker but she drove incredible all week.

Thanks, Stacey, that is really impressive. Dare I say, for a young woman to be this fast in a Shifter at this event is astounding, really! Look out, Ms. Patrick…

It’s always the small stuff that ruins the Big Stuff, ain’t it? Sucks I’m sure, but what an effort, Congrats again. (I know that sounds strange in typical DNF context…).

… If you want to make it happen in Colorado, here’s what you should do. SKUSA for all shifter classes, Rotax for all tag classes, drop the idea of TAG altogether including SKUSA’s version of cadet. While your at it, get rid of the 4 cycles. They belong on lawn mowers and tillers. The flat heads almost fit but the OHV engines are too wide and too heavy for a go kart. If you did that you stand a chance of having big fields again.

If you don’t do as I suggest, next year you will be having the same conversation.

With all due respect, you may well be proven right… but this approach seems to slight the resolutive thinking that’s needed for the good of all players. Despite my being on the outside looking in, but having interest in coming back in, I too care what happens in moving forward. Your closing comment seems just a bit “my way or the highway,” and that’s an approach that’s been part of the problem in some local tensions already.

Perhaps I’m misreading here, Doug… but the idea that Brad should scrap several hundred Grand over 10 years of investment in bringing 4-strokes into the States — not to mention racers who’ve spent good money on such motors — is pretty divisive. These 4-stroke motors were purpose-built for karting, and your “lawnmower” comment forgets that Shifter motors were not built for karting, but for motorcycles. Who Cares in either case?

What’s good for everybody is the path to follow, and equipment scrapping isn’t viable for many. And one person’s projected solution is almost never the sole answer.

Just in my humble opinion, however.

We’d hoped to but couldn’t make the SuperNats. I’ve only checked the S2 results so far, but wanted to post an observation.

Colorado’s own Sabre Cook DNFed, don’t know why… but first tied the third-fastest lap in S2!!!

To my friends the Cooks… sorry for whatever went wrong, but this is really something to be proud of!

Man, I saw this coming… and heard from a few buddies in the biz overseas that there was talk of this falling apart.

Personally, I think this has everything to do with the new race announced in New Jersey. Whatever works for Bernie is all that’s ever mattered to him.

But I agree with Mike’s point about Silverstone… odd are, we may still be driving to Texas next Fall… I hope.

    Hello, Keith:

It seems you may have gotten the wrong impression, from many of us and myself included.

I am not currently racing for reasons of funds mainly, but do not think I would hesitate based on what you’ve read here. Yes, the has been some divisions going on, and without those it would be stronger — and without speaking for others, it seems that’s what we’re all saying.

But I also believe the Glory Days are just ahead. Some here recall what it was like a few years back in its finest hours, and they miss it and want it back. But if you have the urge to race karts — and if there’s one thing I can speak for everyone it’s that we all love it because it’s a BLAST and thus there’s some impassioned anger here — then I would recommend you carry on and do it.

If your Jonesing to do this because of a love for motor sport, competition, camaraderie, and perhaps most importantly to make and enjoy a lifetime of friends, I highly doubt you will regret kart racing. I’ve done it off and on for 35 years and must have 30 enduring friendships from karting alone, and have absolutely no regrets for a single nickel spent.

When my mind wanders to my life’s greatest memories, many are invariably from the kart tracks and people I’ve so enjoyed.

[Edit: I can add that there’s many, many people around here, myself included, that welcome new racers and are willing and able to offer advice to help you get going in the right direction. Use Us.]

Thank You for your nice words, Gunter, and my best to you and Chrissie!

Sorry to hear this, Terry, awful. My first live witness of this was in 1966 or so, at Hales Corners Speedway in Wisconsin, a young Native American midget racer named Dave Whitehorse. It was 50 feet away and utterly terrible, and similar in that he hit the fence rolling at the wrong angle before the full-cage era. I was only 6 and still recall more of it than I care to. I hope your wife can re-find her love for our sport, and I’d bet that she will, in time.

Easy to say, but this is part of racing and so uncommon now compared to my roots around this great sport. I’ve had far more than my share of tragedy but keep coming back for everything else that it is.

    Take Care, All.

What would have been purely heartwarming Saturday takes on a bit of a different meaning now:

It still is equally important to follow one’s dreams, though….

    Race in Peace, Mr. Wheldon.

    Thanks for posting this, Doug.

My heartfelt condolences to all: Dan, his family, friends, and teammates; racers and insiders everywhere…. and to the far greater numbers of Dan’s fans, from his home nation of England and throughout the world.

    Terrible, speechless.

    RIP, Mr. Wheldon.

[My prayers also for Mike Jansen, who was at this race.]
