ParticipantAgain, I think we’re missing one very important point. It doesn’t matter how many classes there are that is the main issue. The issue we all keep sugar coating is that the orgainization needs to be better! When the flag is thrown to the last finisher and it takes 10 more minutes (or longer) for the kid kart class to get out on the track or staged that would and should be an issue!
Organization Organization Organization is one of the killers of time. Get the class prestaged in order, when the last person on track is thrown the checkered then get everyone READY TO GO.
That’s my main wish list item.

ParticipantMike, your right!! every minute counts and it takes the track officials and drivers to make it work..

ParticipantAnother thing that I think would be cool for next year is to race at more tracks. Instead of going to each Club track twice then steamboat I would like to have one race at each track and fill the rest of the dates with events like That expedition race in CO springs (But as a real race), the denver GP, and probably another Temp. Circut on the western slope.
I think that street races are more exciting and take more from the driver because there is no before race testing.
Let me know what you think

InactiveI like what Kyle brought up again as it was suggested a couple of months ago.
I would like to see new venues for the CSC at:
*Denver Grand Prix: I think Jim K. will push it
*Street race: Colorado Springs? Estes Park-remember? Vail-in the middle of the State?
*CRE track: Come on George it is time
*PPIR: Inner road race course
I also agree with speeding things up on race day. Last kart off next heat goes-no waiting for laggers and Pole guy get it right the first time or back to the end of the line and racers stay in line no jumping or the same penalty-no more 2nd, 3rd chances! the worst classes for this are the TAG and Shifters.
After the party I am pumped for next year already.

ParticipantMy wish list for races.
6 races series.
One at each of the permenant tracks.Action Karting at Bandimere
Grand Junction Motor Speedway
IMI
CRE
The Track at CentenialFinale at Steamboat Springs. No drops. Any more races and you will kill any club racing you may wish to have.
Possible expansion, an additional temp thrown in the mix.
Temps, if done correctly, can be safe and as Kyle pointed out, they can be a great test of driver and tuner. They are however, expensive to put on and require outside sources ($$) to make them work. Tie ins with other events like the Denver GP or the Bike Week in the Springs make sense.
From a racers point of view, a series such as above would be one of the very best in the country, it would be affordable and it would leave racers open to do a club series if they wanted.

InactiveHow about an extra 10 lbs for karts with ICC motors in novice and S1 like they do at SKUSA events?

InactiveAs all the powers to be meet to discuss the 2005 season I would like to put my two cents in. I have mentioned it before but not much response. What will the powers decide to do in the Junior 1 class for those of us who want to run Comer 80 motors. We will not buy Animals because we want to run in some of the National SKUSA and other events with our Comer 80’s. Do we run them with Junior 1 class but score separately and follow the IKF rules same as SKUSA? Do we get a weight break more than last year and slow the animals down? I would like to know where we will run so that we are competitive. As evident from last year, changes need to be made to make the Comer 80 more competitive. That was supposed to happen last year but it did not. The comer 80 motor produces 8.5 to 9.5 horsepower. Some of the briggs out ther are pulling close to 15. Around the country there are separate classes for the Comer 80 and they are very popular. The CSC rules last year managed to run most of them out. I bet if the rules were more competitive to the Comer there would be more in the class because of the low initial expense and the low maintenance factor. And no I don’t want to go buy minimax motors for twenty two hundred dollars each. That is a great motor package for those who want to aspire and follow the TAG class. We do not. In a year or so we will move up to the novice shifter class where we can carry a $2200.00 motor package up through the 80 shifter classes. The comer 80’s need to be heard and I am voicing my concern for next year for those kids with these motors. I would like to see them have the rules generated to where they are competitive with the 4 strokes. There was talk of slowing the 4 strokes down which I believe is a heck of an idea. Obviously from our standpoint that would make the Comers more competitive, however there is no reason whatsoever to have an 8 yr old with limited driving experience and immature thinking in dire situations to be going as fast as they did last year. Too fast for their ability. Would one of the decision makers for the series put some legitimate thought into the structure for next year. We (4 kart racers) have always supported the CSC (through the ups and downs) and would like to be heard.
My two OKAY three cents worth,

InactiveFYI to the CSC powers on Rotax Mini-Max, Gazelle, and World Formula:
Ok, I took some initiative and talked to Mike (owner) of Kam Karting last week. He is an authorized dealer for Parilla, Rotax and Briggs. I asked him about running the Parilla Gazelle with the Mini-Max and he replied it would not be fair. The mini-max has more HP and lap times show it on their tracks. (BTW, they run the Gazelles with the 80cc Comers with great success there. Mike says those two motors are very comparable except the Gazelle is electric start.) I asked about the Puma motor compared to mini-max; and although, he has heard of the puma, he has never seen one on his track. I told him that we had ran mini-maxs with stock, gas Animals, and according to his experiences on their track(s), the minimaxs should have the advantage. I asked him if he knew of any motor package they would run with the mini-max and he couldn’t think of one until I mentioned the World Formula. His thoughts were that might be the only motor that would be close in performance to the mini-max.
Come on CSC powers can it be looked into for this proposed mini-max class??? :cheers:Rich, to address you comment about the 6 HP advantage of the Animal over the Comer:
If you find somebody who is producing 15 HP on “our CSC” version of the Animal send them your 80cc Comer motor because on their dyno it will produce 14-15 HP too. A synopses from prior posts and conversations that have included 5 Animal engine builders and three 80cc Comer engine builders including yours, showed that they all produce about the same in HP at sea level after both “stock” motors have been blueprinted. What I believe might be the difference is the disparity of torque values between the two motors. The Animal has twice that of the Comer, but I don’t understand the situation completely either since the Animals seem to have an advantage at IMI where I would think HP/rpm would rule and the Comers are very competitive at Bandimere were I would think torque would matter with all those tight turns. :idn:My six cents…

InactiveI agree with Don. Rich, if you can find a gas animal that is producing even 11 hp here in Colorado (legally), please let me know and I will buy it. That would be an exceptionally strong animal by my experience.
I am also opposed to anything that creates a new engine “arms race” in Junior 1. The majority of the class is heavily invested in the animal. Whatever we do with the engine specs should be focused on what is right for the class, and not driven by an attempt to create parity with the comer.

ParticipantI like Doug’s wish list.
November 29, 2004 at 6:26 pm #48946Mike Edwards
ParticipantDoes anyone have access to a dyno here in Colorado? CSC could use one of my new LEGAL (by 2004 standards anyway) animals for a test with any other motor package to help put this to rest once and for all……
