Guys come on down this weekend and race at the new SBR MotorSports Park Once we get all of us together we can get the Colorado Series up and Running. We need to support SBR and get this track back on the map again. We’ll now have another full time track to add to the series. Lee’s done a great job in repairing the track, added some new pavement and improved the exit and entrance to the track. The place is cleaned up and ready for drivers. Come down this weekend and lets get the Colorado series up and running. Cheap weekend of racing. Open tires and Fuel. Lets get the Colorado series up and running now!!!!

Congrats to all the Colorado Drivers.

Mike, Like last year, everyone will run together, we had good numbers that way and everyone had fun racing. It’s club racing at its best, Open tire, open fuel. If you want to run MOJO’s that’s up to each driver. Hope to see you at PPIR or the other tracks.

We plan on starting the meeting in the Media Center around 4:00p.m. The intent is to gather input from folks an see what direction the drivers would like to go. Everything is on the table and up for discussion. There are no plans to walk out of this meeting with a final solution, just some options. I believe like others that we need to bring the drivers together to see what they want and then figure out what can be worked out with the tracks, promoters, and clubs. PPKRC’s stated mission as a Club is to be inclusive and open to everyone and not to exclude anyone. Our goal is to gather input, define a few possible options, and then meet with the other principles from GJMS, The Track, IMI, SKUSA, CJKC and any other organization that is promoting karting or a venue. Bottom line, after we gather input from the drivers as to what they would like to see, the principles need to get together to make make this work.

PPKRC’s intent on Saturday is to not create a soap box for individuals to get up on and slam others, what we want is an discussion on what the drivers want to see. We don’t want to spend the time talking about what’s wrong, who’s responsible, who did what to who, or way I don’t want so and so involved. We are hosting this to look forward, not backward and to develop a set of possible options to take forward. If you plan on attending, plan on doing some small group work to help develop these possible solutions or options. Our goal is to devise well thought out options that make sense, are inclusive, affordable, safe and meet the needs of the “Most”. Please come prepare to have a fruitful, positive discussion, and please leave the past at home. Lets focus on the future and how we can expose, promote, grow and put our best foot forward in having what we all want, to race with everyone and have a great 2012 racing season. We’ll have either a food Vendor or a BBQ for dinner along with a beer garden for the adults.

If your interested in Test and Tune on Saturday on the infield track its, $40, and racing on Sunday $60. The weather on Saturday morning doesn’t look good but is suppose to get better around noon. Sunday’s weather at PPIR look like it’ll be in the 60’s. Remember the PPIR is in a banana belt, what you see in Denver or even Colorado Springs is very different then what they see at PPIR. Check our web Site for Weather at http://www.PPKRC.Com. We’ll have the meeting rain or shine.

PPKRC has offered to host a discussion at the last Oct 8th & 9th race at PPIR. The race is in the infield. As always we offer every class to all racers. We have been an advocate of a Race Series and would be glad to participate in it. We don’t charge membership fees to race with PPKRC and have a open tire rule, and fuel along with Open classes. Come down to the Oct. race in the infield. $100 for the whole weekend. (Includes Test and Tune, Pit, Garage Space, Race Entry for Sunday, Driver Wrist Band) Wrist band for all others is $10 per person for the whole weekend. Come down and see what it would be like to have everyone racing together.

Ron, PPKRC has and will always be open to anyone racing down at PPIR, regardless of engine, chassis, Club, Organization, etc…. PPKRC has done everything it can to incorporate all the classes from each track and not exclude anyone. I have on numerous occasions reached out to promoters, clubs and track owners to get together, issue is, what I hear “if so and so goes then I will not go”. Until that attitude stops, by some, it’ll be difficult to get ALL of us together, I can speak for PPKRC we have and will always be open to any meeting, series or whatever to enhance the experience for the drivers. I believe a series is the way we bring all of us back together, everyone races together as a group at each venue at least once a year, start there. We have another race open to everyone this weekend in the autocross and the last one in October in the infield, come join us. This weekend we are hosting some of the CJKC at PPIR along with others from around Colorado. We plan on having a group head to GJMS very soon. PPKRC drivers have already raced IMI, The Track, Bandimere, Race of the Rockies, Mile High Challenge, CJKC , SKUSA MR and traveled out of state to nationals, GMJS up next. As you can see traveling to support other Orgs or tracks is what PPKRC is all about. We don’t even make you join our club to race with us.

Stacey, well put, I hope that we can build on this and other events. I still would like to find a way to get the Tracks, the Promoters, Clubs and who ever else and meet right after the end of the season to discuss bringing back a Colorado Kart Series for the sake of the Drivers, I know PPKRC is more than glad to host one or more of the Races, and travel to all the other venues. What we need is to make this opportunity available to the Drivers, I know you and I are looking to rebuild karting along with Curt, we need to get the rest involved and committed to building the sport. What we need is an out cry from the karting community to pressure all tracks, promoters, and clubs to meet and resolve the difference between those who have the issues. Nobody has the market on the drivers, the drivers need to be heard and we as track owners, promoters and clubs need to respond to their needs.
Lets all stop the BS and make this happen, I’m proposing that we hold two meetings, one in Grand Junction and one on the Front Range. The meetings should have several representatives of the Karting Community from both sides of the hill, each track owner, club or promoter should have a representative, lets make sure there is a good balnce with drivers. I’m more than glad to help organize this and do the invites, if you and others agree, please voice you opinion on this.
This last weekend showed that you can bring at least three groups together and they can all get along fine, good mix of classes and driver abilities. I know that others are trying to do the same, we just need to find a way to bring this together, I believe the drivers have the power to make it happen if they will stand up and voice their opinion on this. Its also important to point out that the drivers need to support all the venues in some way. If drivers just want to run at the same track over and over that’s a choice they make and that should be honored, but, they are missing out on a great experience by not traveling at least once to another venue or event. I know PPKRC is and has always been open to all drivers, you don’t need to be member PPKRC to race with us, we encourage our members to travel and support others and get experience driving with other drivers and racing on different tracks.

Stacey if you agree, lets set a date to meet in Grand Junction either before or after one of your races and set a date for the front range to get this group together, we’ll see who is for this and who will participate in building the sport of kart racing.

Honestly, it shouldn’t matter what engine, chassis, club or track you run at for you to be concerned about what is happening to the sport, speak up and make your voice be heard.

To all the drivers which includes me too, if you don’t care, we’ll have fun finding a track, club or kart to race in a few years.

Eddy great to hear that your mother is doing well, we missed you out there, but with that said we have a new Tseng to watch, wow she did awesome and it was a pleasure to see her on the podium with the other ladies. I can’t say enough about Tim and the others, not only did they help your wife but they were also helping Nicole. It just goes to show the type of folks running with PPKRC, our future looks bright, every race we attract new members and others who are starting to see what we are all about, the words getting out. Eddy, you’re a big part of why this club is gaining new members and has the reputation of being family type of club. Eddy, our prayers and thoughts are with your mother and family and hope for a speedy recovery.

The Schedule for this weekend is Saturday Test and Tune from 9:00am – 5:00pm. The gates open Satruday morning at 8:00am for registration, we’ll have registration open all day Saturday, Sunday registrations closes at 8:30am. Sunday is race day, Pracatice should start around 8:30am , driver meeting, qualifying, heat races, mains, Awards Ceremony.
Please go to http://www.PPKRC.com for more infomation under race info. The track layout doesn’t seem to want to post. Sorry. We’ll have registration, tech and Tag forms at registration. We still have garage space. With the afternoon rains the garage is a great place to be with all the other teams, no need to worry about rain or wind. The garages have lights and power in every stall and are secure at night. Bring Sun Screen the temp is now predicted to be in the low 90’s. Please remember that if it does rain at PPIR, it drys really fast down there, if it rains.

Look forward to seeing everyone down at PPIR this weekend. :~ :~

All good points Rodney, are you going to show up if its two days? As of right now this is still up in the air. I just got back from PPIR and it looks like we’ll need upwards of 20 lights to ligth the track. It looks for now like we’ll go with a Saturday and Sunday event, and plan a night race for August or Sept. Stay tune this still could change if someone steps up and sponsors the ligthing.

Well we met this evening and if we can find a couple of folks to sponsor some of the lights at $125 a piece we are mostly likely going to do a night race. We are checking to make sure the Fire Department and Ambulance service can be there until 10:00pm. If you know of anyone who would help support sponsoring a Light stand let us know. As of now we have several already sponsored but need about eight more. We’ve talked to PPIR and they are working with us to make this happen Saturday night July 9th. Please spread the news about the race. It would be nice to have about 50 plus racers to offset the cost of the race and the overhead. An official notification will come Thrusday afternoon after we verfiy the safety equipment. If this comes off right and racers support this we may go to all night races the rest of the season. Good news is the garage has lights. A preliminary schedule would look like this:
    Saturday
    8:00am gates open
    10:00am-1:00pm test and tune
    1:30pm-2:30pm Break – Lunch
    2:30pm-4:30pm Qualifying
    4:30pm-6:30pm Heat Races
    6:30pm-7:30pm Break – Dinner
    7:30pm-10:00+pm Mains
