    Curt,
Has there been any progress made on establishing a place, date and time for the proposed karting summit?
Now that the season is over my phone is ringing off of the hook from inquiring minds that want to know.
It’s hard to believe but the 2007 season will start in just five and half short months………..times a wasting.

    George,
I am working hard to locate a place and time that will work. There have been twenty-one surveys turned in, which in my opinion is very light. Jim and Stacey are out of town on the first date I picked. And the Supernats are approaching very fast. It will more than likely happen after the 11-12-06 weekend.
I am running out of steam as a volunteer dad trying to pull this together. There have been about 4-5 others that want to help out with the meeting, however, time is running out along with my passion.
The “Silent Majority”, which are the ones who do the least in participating, and most in complaining, need to step up now and at least turn in a survey. Believe it or not, the +20 surveys we have are from the same folks who post here and voice their opinion all the time. And yes, I am one of them.
So, get the Track Owners on board along with the so called “Silent Majority” and maybe I can get excited again.

The common threads to all the surveys has been: fewer classes, tighter rules, less races, no drops. There have also been some very good general comments that are very well thought out and something that should be considered.

As usual, all your comments and concerns are welcome. Any new voices out there have any thoughts?

I did a similar survey after the first season of the CSC. If I remember right, I got about 20 responses. The results were fewer races, fewer classes, better on track race direction, better tech. Not much has changed in 3 years!

That’s about it in a nut shell Doug.

There you go! Lets get a schedule decided, whittle down to 8 classes and have a great winter

    My shoulders suddenly feel lighter.

    Here is a thought.

Have a single drop for the season. You would only be eligible to use the single drop at a race that you attended.

For example, if you didn’t show for the race you are not eligible to use the one drop. On the flip side, if you showed for the race and either had mechanical difficulties, wrecked, or ran poorly you could chose to use the single drop. This would take care of those racers who are running for points and would not matter to those who are not running for points.

    Seems simple enough,

    Tom

    Curt,
I appreciate your efforts and understand your frustration.

If November 12th is the earliest that we can get most to attend then please set the reservation and let’s begin the planning.

Over the last three years the silent majority has gotten smaller and in some cases has left the sport……….this alone is one of the major reasons to have the summit in an attempt to bring the track owners, karting businesses and the racer representatives to together to reform and reenergize our sport in 2007.

Once again I appreciate your efforts and applaud you for stepping up for the sake of our sport and the kart racer.

    Stacey,
The Friday night at 7pm would be great. We can now find out who the committed karters are. If the weather is any good on Saturday perhaps you could throw a “run what you brung” race.
I know many folks on this side of the hill won’t want to make the trip, however, after your support and efforts on (7) front range races this season, it’s the least we can do. This might even bring in a SLC racer or two also.

Count me in on Friday evening.

Get the Doubletree warned now to stock up on the Green Bottled Beers and gars!

the Banquet is going to be the 18th, Saturday. I will have all of the info out soon. Not at the same place as last year, but just as nice! How about the day after the banquet?

    Stacey and Curt,

I would say there is a better than 75% chance that a few of us from Reaction/SLC will make the trip as we are really looking to try and do the entire CSC next season depending on schedule and some other issues. So once you guys get a date and location locked down I can give you a definitive answer on us.

    Curt,
I am not trying to step on your toes or efforts in establishing this coming Sunday’s meeting but as you can see by the topic posted it was NEVER meant to be a CSC love feast. It was to address the failing club/ regional racing programs and the diminishing participation and interest not only in regional/ club racing programs but the CSC and kart racing in general in Colorado. The CSC was only addressed in those post as part of the overall Colorado karting scene and specifically asked for the participation of ALL involved in Colorado kart racing as businesses and participants in an effort to unify and grow Colorado kart racing. I did ask for assistance in establishing a central location and time because I am not in a place to make those arrangements, at which time you generously stepped up to offer assistance. The purpose of the meeting was VERY specific and I thought you understood that…..my apologizes if there was a misunderstanding. Never the less the issues raised then are STILL the same and the importance to Colorado karting remains the same.

I truely appreciate your efforts to put a meeting and co-ordinator together and Rusty Newberrys efforts to find a location and time at his expense. I will personally reimburse Rusty for the expense and efforts.

At this time, we have apparently ten participants expected to participate on the panel……..I want to go ahead with the agenda BUT turn the focus back to where it was originally intended and that is the best interest of the Colorado kart racer and the sport in our state. I don’t need to sit at a table to address what I think are the concerns of the silent majority of Colorado kart racers. That means that we have space, as advertised, for 90 or more of our constituents and would hardily advise and request that the kart racers with concerns attend to support their concerns and interests.

I would just ask that the powers that be come with an open mind and offer a clean slate at how we can unify Colorado karting that best benefits the kart racer ( customer) and Colorado karting businesses. Once again we need to address a new way of doing businees that benefits all.

    George,
I have no beef with you, never had one. Our personal history at your facility speaks for itself. I attempted to include you with no success. It’s up to you personally to get with the other track owners and come up with a plan. Until that happens I have no clout. If you could only see and hear the comments I get you would understand.
I received 1 survey from your region. It had many great comments and suggestions. Hopefully more can show up for the meeting and add value to the meeting.
The bulk of this meeting is based on what is happening in the State. That happens to be the CSC. It has become one of the premier series in the country and has a lot of great people helping it grow. Many of us would love to see CRE enter into the mix to include your customer base, and allow all the drivers an opportunity to race on the most technical track in the state. (With the best scales)
Please come and you will have a great opportunity to speak and be heard. Your challenge from my perspective is to get your peers on the same page, and put an end to the disrespect and hatred we racers hear when you all get into it.
    :peace :hi
