ParticipantThank you to everyone involved and all those that generously contributed to The Children’s Hospital!
Every year the 24 is a challenge and the rain made it even harder. Congratulations to all the teams that participated, sticking it out as long as possible in the far from ideal conditions is a true testament to how hard core everyone that participates is. The race, even in ideal conditions, is a true test of resolve, endurance, planning, and commitment.
We haven’t haven’t had a chance to tally the amount raised for Children’s but there was over $350 contributed by racers, friends, and family that were at the race.
Thank you everyone!

ParticipantI can’t speak for the durability of the Rotax engines, but twice now, our Karting Coach team has run a single, race spec Leopard for the entire duration of the 24 hours at the Track.
Earlier this season, Mike had a problem with his engine on Saturday during a makeup race (we made a mistake with the rebuild), so we put my un-rebuilt Leopard from the previous year’s 24 hour race on his kart for Sunday. He was able to run in 2nd place for about half of the main event with a pretty well worn engine. We couldn’t get it to turn RPMs beyond 15k but it still had a surprising amount of power.

ParticipantThank you to everyone that took part in this year’s 24, whether you raced, were part of the pit crew, or just showed up to cheer on your favorite racer. Every little bit helps… especially the cameraman taking pictures, firing off the flash in the middle of the night as you go down the front straight… makes you feel like a rock star!
One of the sponsors of this year’s Karting Coach team, C4-Photo.com has posted a bunch of photos from the race on their website and has made them available for purchase.

We’ve also posted a bunch of race photos on our website as well http://www.kartingcoach.com/24hours2009.htm
Already looking forward to next year’s race!

PS. Some of you may have been eyeing the quick jacks our team was using during our pit stops… we’ve got a few refinements to make, and then we’re going to make them available for purchase. If you’re interested in a set, drop myself or Mike Weatherman a line.
PPS. If you haven’t heard about or seen our soon-to-be-released KartTuner iPhone app, check it out at http://www.karttuner.com. If you have an iPhone and are interested in beta testing it, please let me know.

3. I sure as heck don’t want to get rammed and climbed by a teenager. I’m glad I wasn’t in front of that hotshot slowing down his quest for glory in yesterday’s TaG senior race.
Do you know what number it was that you thought was driving crazy?
I know I tangled with Will (#00) in the heat race so I hope I’m not the one that you thought was driving crazy but if I was, please let me know.
