He was the one in the weeds all day. There was more carnage in the masters than the teenager class.

It was nice to see 20 lap Mike complete the main.

Oh wait, that was him I saw standing in the weeds just before the S turns.

    Just kidding Mike.

Thanks Doug! I was in the weeds because I lost a bolt holding my master cylinder to the frame. I thought pulling off was better than heroically trying to finish the race with no brakes.

I’ll point you back to #’s 1 and 2 of my original post as to why I am moving to masters. #3 was just the capper and helped make my decision easier.

Doug you might need to clean your “specs” off a bit. First I did not see any weeds in the dirt I tilled up and I did take a break from my gardening efforts long enough to finish my first ever main with all the climbing and ramming over the hill teenagers. It was nice to see 29 Bosses racing with out a meat wagon needed.

Wayyylll, the TurnbullMortgageGPMotori had a little brake problem and it was a real letdown to mah crew. We had a top 3 kart out there and I’ma workin on mah John Deere sponsorship and anglin’ for a renamin’ of that last corner comin’ down the hill to tha Jansen curve.

We’ll git er done for tha next race and make sure we don’t repeat the problems of sunday agin…

    3. I sure as heck don’t want to get rammed and climbed by a teenager. I’m glad I wasn’t in front of that hotshot slowing down his quest for glory in yesterday’s TaG senior race.

Do you know what number it was that you thought was driving crazy?

I know I tangled with Will (#00) in the heat race so I hope I’m not the one that you thought was driving crazy but if I was, please let me know.

I’m extremely curious as to who was driving so dirty? Anyone mad enough to announce it to the public?

the “hot shot” teenager they are referring to is me, Nick Burton. In the main yesterday i came up on somebody a lot faster than i had expected adn i ended up driving over the top of him. My kart kept running and i kept driving. after that incident i kept my driving clean although you may believe i punted someone on the last turn with a few laps to go…the reason he over drove the corner was because he was trying to look back after i had bumped him going down the straight away, when he looked back he went straight instead of turning. I apologized to the driver i ran over after the race and i dont want anyone thinkiong i am a dirty driver because thats reall not the way i drive. I apologize for my actions and i will try to make sureit doesnt happen again. I want all of my competitors feeling safe when im racing with them.

Nick, I didn’t mean for my post to turn into a public lynching or public review of your passing techniques. I am kinda new to this game and I think I was a bit shaken after watching the incident. I know that ‘racing incidents’ DO happen…this isn’t ping pong and we all know the potential for injury and bent parts. If it wasn’t a little bit dangerous, none of us would be out there with big giant grins that we get from the perceived risk.

I, however, can’t cut it in your class right now. Your accident was cited in my post as supporting evidence for why I need to move; and Yes, I understand the potential for the same exact thing to occur when racing with the old fat guys, but at least the aggression might be turned down a notch or two at the back of the pack where I’ll be.

Although I didnt see any of the contact or was even at the race on sunday ( mechanical issues), Kudos to Nick for stepping up and admiting his mistake.
    Great job Nick.

    Kirk,

I wouldn’t say that Masters will be any less difficult for what you’ve described. Look at how many karts were off the track at the end of the Main.

    Nick,

Kudos for the honesty and the brass to admit a mistake and look forward to getting better.

We all make mistakes. Few admit them to even themselves much less to others. Those that do can learn from them and learn faster than the people who live in denial.

You show alot of class and maturity by publicly announcing your move. Apology is accepted and we move on. It’s a challenge for us all when we run combined classes as we did Sunday, i.e. Jr and Sr together.

Best of luck to you in your racing future.

    Eddy
