ParticipantIs it just me or is there a strong resemblance between he and many superheroes?

ParticipantAs a karting newbie :new (and engineer/analyst by trade), the mylaps results for the two days and Scott’s performances were a lesson in statistics, great driving, and how in the end the fast guy/great driver got things done given all the elements stacked against him.
Congrats Scott on the great results and thanks for the schooling!! :~

ParticipantCraig – PPKRC’s web site says saturday 8/3 is a test and tune day prior to their club race on Sunday 8/4.
Can you please add some details to Saturday? Can one test and tune a kart that is intended to race Sunday? Can the same kart be used to participate Saturday somehow in your event?
Thanks! Leo.

ParticipantExpect: open tires, open fuel, not sure what rules they will run, not sure if you need any affiliation membership, so bring some weights along just in case they decide to have a weight spec. I’m hearing of at least 2 other Leopards being there with masters age drivers.

ParticipantJust posted over in the “other” IMI interest thread – any interest in Sunday at IMI? Stock moto here….

ParticipantYa know, I believe we will see this become reality for club level karting some time in our near future.
Coming from the bicycle side of things – carbon retains its original characteristics an order of magnitude longer than chromoly. Secondly, price – with the understanding that most of the carbon frames are coming out of the same handful of factories, including the generic ones, the material and manufacturing technology is available to keep the frame itself in the same general ballpark of price once the volumes pick up.
Couple these two facts and it would be cheaper for a season to run one carbon chassis over multiple chromoly chassis. It would take a little long for the non-national S1 level (club level) drivers to get their hands on the used chassis since there would not be multiple per season hitting the used market, but eventually they would make their way into club level racing at a reasonable price.
The challenge will be/is the development of a layup/design that mimics the characteristics of the chromoly frames available today (or adds some level of handling/tunability beyond what is available now). Forget about the aerodynamics for now.

ParticipantRay – I am the newbie in all this, and honestly don’t know who you are and what you represent (e.g., kids club, IMI), but will will offer these comments.
One – finding out what the program for the day was, what sanctioning body(ies) were involved, what rules would be in effect – was not easy to find. I found two different CO junior karting club web sites, one of which did not have any contact information available, and one that did, but kept coming up as a “test” web site…. I was able to get an email back with the schedule of the day (which I posted above), but was on my own to find out what the adult program was.
Two – having the event take place on the same day as the event in Calhan I suspect divided the attendance, especially considering that the SBR crew was actively marketing their event to junior karters
Three – last summer, when a group of 3 of us with TaGs and shifters were looking at IMI for an event, we were not able to figure out from their web site what what going on and when…. same issue I faced this past week.
Very clearly a chicken and an egg thing here. I considered driving Sunday at IMI, but calling ahead(as well as a poll of other drivers) the attendance of shifters was just going to be too small to justify the long day with the other classes to make the time valuable versus a test and tune day on my own or with a few others.
I must also say – after poking around on the SKUSA ProKart Challenge web site, I was rather surprised that there are only TWO S3 drivers so far in the entire rocky mountain series.
That last part seems to be telling re: entry level shifter racing. :peace and :new

ParticipantJust got this info –
“ο»Ώο»ΏThe CJKC is running this weekend at IMI, but we do not have shifters and TaG’s in our club which is why it is not on our website.
However, we are running this race with the club that IMI has which does include shifters and TAGs.
So to answer your question, yes, there will be shifters and TaGS running with the CJKC this weekend.
Please contact Brad at IMI for all the details about the classes he is running on Sunday. I have copied him on this email, but you should probably call up there or stop by.
I have attached the schedule for Sunday, which includes the IMI shifters and TaG’s. Please note that the 7:00am “pre-tech and registration” only applies to the CJKC. I do not know if Brad is planning the same schedule, but I would assume so.”
Along with this came a PDF file that shows this info –
