InactiveJay,
I understand what fun is as I too have a kart and believe that it is an absolute kick in the pants!
As for smiling and having fun, show me a class where the racer’s aren’t having fun.
What kart do you drive?
I also have nothing against 4 cycle’s.
However, that does not mean that you can’t have fun and be a professionally run series with corperate sponsors. If you don’t think that the sport is moving away from porta-pottys and towards nicer facilities, try looking at New Castle, IN. Talk to Jim K. and look at what he is planning.
As for your dig at me and announcing F-1 and Nascar….how pathetic. I have yet to see you offer one positive sugggestion on how to better the series or grow the sport.

InactiveJay,
Why are you making this personal?
I thought that Dan, Greg and I were having a discussion with different view points. Dan and Greg, anything I said was not ment to be a slam at you and it was nothing that I wouldn’t have said to your face. It is an exchange of ideas.
Jay on the other hand has to try and throw gas on everthing and watch it burn. That is what will do karting in. We will all alway’s have differing opinions on different topics, and if we discuss them rationally, the sport will only grow and get better. If we keep making everything personal we will eventually as the newest Little League.
Jay, please continue to attack the people who work hard to put on the races, then see where you have to race.

I do not race a kart neither do you as for you question what am I doing for the sport I have posters at 13 companies promoting kid kart racing in the fort collins area. What are You doing???? I also have 2 parents interested in buying kid karts and racing next season. How many people have you brought into karting????

Inactivei don’t really want to get involved in this, but i happened to know that he’s brought lots of people in to karting. at EVERY race, he is there talking to people who seem interested in the sport, he gives them all the information they need and then some. I know that when i was strating karting after coming from the oval environment of quarter midgets, he was a huge help to us in learning what was going on, greg even made good competition to help me learn that aspect. saying that he does nothing is pretty harsh to say because i would be willing to say that everybody has at least done something to help at least a little bit. from what i can read, it sounds like you are being mad that 4 cycle wasn’t added to the csc, from a decision the class made and you are now regretting it, how does that lead to someone who is the main voice of our series “not helping people get into the sport” thats just not right.

InactiveActually, I have been around karting for about 4 years, and have raced state races and club races. I was then asked to help with announcing and running the CSC races, 1st at AK and then around the state. I have also done quite a bit to promote the sport and have brought several people into karting.
Jay, you don’t know me well enough to start trashing me.
If you ever want to run a shifter, let me know, I have 3 you can choose from.
Chris, thank you for the kind words about me and my son (Greg).

ParticipantDamnit!!! What did I say about getting along!!!!!!! Drew has sacrificed a TON in this sport, the man busts mega ass out at AK WORKING with rental karts, likely bringing in plenty of new blood, also, he takes enormous strides to make sure the spectators are informed, and quite frequently he is answering mundane questions from outsiders most people would shine away from. Some of you guys of the briggs clan are not doing anything positive to boost and boast the sport, instead of trying to solve the problem, it seems that you guys would rather attack those who make the race day run. The CSC is a playground for FUN, try to make it so, and work out all of the differentials that seem to be holding you guys back from enjoying what really is a great place to race.
anybody wanting to continue this further call me any time at 3@3 8@7 3975 (the @ are zeros intentionally).

And all she wants to do is watch him race and not deal with the BS. We are tired of the fact you are fast so you are cheating.Drew if you felt I was trashing please accept my public apology????

As a fellow Briggs racer, I would to thank you for backing up everything Greg said reguarding ARRAGANT attitude that most none Briggs racers express. What section of the bleachers do you race from? Your opinion means absolutely nothing to us. Look for the Briggs Modified class to be the most dominant class next year. 😀Dude, chill. I was just having fun with that. I B.S. with the World Formula guys all the time down at CRE when we ran the Easykart mains with them, since we passed them like they were stuck to the pavement.
Just out of curiousity….how much does a Briggs motor package that you guys race cost?
Reason i ask is that if you REALLY want to promote your class….you should be going after people looking to get into karting on a budget and have fun.
You’re not going to win over guys in ICC’s and TAG karts by talking badly and saying 4-cycles are better than them,or at least saying your class is better.
How many Briggs racers would commit to the state races on average? If you wanna be included, I’ll help.
Let me race a 4-cycle on nitro though 😀
December 17, 2005 at 4:17 pm #52183Rodney Ebersole
ParticipantChuck D, I am sure we could allow you to race them briggs on nitro. but only if you buy all the motors you’ll need from me. 😛
If we wanted to make the most affordable class for racers it would be a OHV clone motor class. But like I have said before, what kart shop is going to cater to a racer that has no budget to spend to race?
Selling Cheep motors, used chassis’s and used tires at little to no profit sounds like the kind of bussiness I always seem to find.
Denver is ripe for this type of racing to be promoted, yet it will have to be a stand alone promotion with out the add of the rest of the family of karters all ready promoting their own version of fun.
Some families have stake and seafood at their gatherings and some families have hambugers and hotdogs. Nobody on a public forum can say which gathering would be more fun to attend.Drew wrote “If the CSC were to have a Briggs class, how many driver’s would make the commitment to race a majority of the series? “
lets see now, As a Briggs racer on a low budget I can enter 2 club races for every one race with the professionally run series with corperate sponsors CSC. So I can commit to half as many races with probably 1/2 half the turn out or go to twice the amount of races with more turn out. Humm which one has a better bang for the buck?
Some of us don’t mind porta-pottys and a T-shirt is our working uniform.
There is no free lunch, where do you want to eat?December 17, 2005 at 4:58 pm #52184Greg Johnson
ParticipantDrew. You didnt read my post correctly. The 7-8 kart count was the OVERALL AVERAGE covering 11 races. Not 1 race. Many seem to forget that The Briggs Animal engine package, Jr1 -2 – Modified is the least expensive package to race. $$Thousands less.I can get 4 races on a set of YHC.MG’s get 1. Not everyone can afford Tag Packages. Besides right now Tag seems to be in disaray with all the diff. engines w/ diff. HP, diff weights ect. that changes every year. I’m tired of this class warfare.

InactiveBriggs People,
*promote your division as the entry level, newbie division and join us at CSC
*I haven’t noticed any we—them issue. In many ways your divsion has the same rapport as the tag masters/seniors do. I notice it everytime you guys come off the track after a race.
Don’t you just love controversy :argue
December 17, 2005 at 11:20 pm #52186Anonymous
InactiveGreg,
Your right my numbers came from another post that had total members per class ( I think). I should do my homework better.
The Tag Master and Tag Sr. class averaged 14 & 11 respectivley. That is over the 6 of the 7 races as the AK race wasn’t posted (or at least I couldn’t find it). I think that you would find that a fair number of these drivers were also running club races.
However, the main point is what can we do to improve and build Karting in the state on every level? The one answer is that argueing over what class is biger, better, faster, louder, cutest, or attracts the best looking fans isn’t going to get it done. 😆
Here’s to goin’ stupid fast and tryin’ not to wet ourselves doin’ it!
