    Bobby,
As of last years local option. Roman was able to run in the “over 35 years or over 200 lbs personal weight” G1 class as Curt mentioned. There was a 125 heavy class the year before that. (pre Skusa) We still gave up 20-25 lbs in that class but had a great time and were fairly competitive. If your son is over 15 he could run that class and have a great time with some of the cleanest racing out there.

One down side is, we were not able to compete in the Nations Cup in the class we competed in all year. (the personal goal at the beginning of the year)

I think there is a place for kids like our’s to run Bobby. Don’t know if you ever had the chance to see Preston Newberry race but it was pretty impressive. Hopefully there will some consistency in the rules and you can come race with us next year!

    Happy Holidays

“We need a big boy class for all of the ex athletes whos kids have taken to the sport. The class would be for a driver weight of 250 and up. I know there are plenty of parents out there that would be intrested in this if they could be competitive”

Rick, you took it right out of my mouth. As I was reading your comment, I had also thought of Preston N. cleaning up all the time, carrying an excessive weight. Get out there and race, you will be competitive and have fun!

    Rich,
The first kart race we went to spectate was at Bandimere. Roman was leary as he has been paticularly big for his age since 3th – 4th grade. We saw Preston out there putting an a– whoopin on a bunch of others. It inspired Roman to think he may be able to do that as well.

I think practice, determination and heart can offset some of the tourque & H.p. handicap etc…. that the bigger drivers face.

With help in the beginning from the Ray’s, Doug and many others we’ve even found that weight helpful in some situations “getting the track” with chassis set up. (we typically have no problem planting the outside rear tire and lifting the inside. Even with a fairly stiff chassis. Our chassis significantly flex’s with driver weight alone, 4mm toe in loaded vs unloaded etc..

Plus, it is so cool to watch Roman, Prestom, A.J. Hathoway or whoever go out and chase someone down or even run with them knowing that determination and the skill’s the’ve devolped can offset some of weight differences.

Another upside is. We see guy’s stressing over weight and the difference in the different tracks scale calibration. We just drive up there like we stole the damn thing and don’t have to worry about it.

If weight is an issue there is another alternative called exercise. Yes this is coming from someone that could use exerise himself, and if I was going to race I would want to be in decent shape.

Bobby, the heaviest weight division is the G-1 Shifter class at 410 lbs kart & driver — the kart weigs about 200 lbs —

You still need to lose a little .

    Sorry bout that.

As a fellow Briggs racer, I would to thank you for backing up everything Greg said reguarding ARRAGANT attitude that most none Briggs racers express. What section of the bleachers do you race from? Your opinion means absolutely nothing to us. Look for the Briggs Modified class to be the most dominant class next year. 😀

    Dan,

“Look for the Briggs Modified class to be the most dominant class next year.”

Where? Somewhere in the midwest or the southeast part of the country, maybe, but not in Colorado.

I would not be racing at all let alone CSC or club, Ya i dont buy new tires
every race, and can hardly afford too keep my kart on the track. Which
half the time its not, but 2000 bucks for the season VS buying a tag kart
for 4k new tires every other race, and a suit and tie. is not an option for me. Just hope Brad keeps the door open for poor folks like me who love too go out and race at an affordable price, my 75 bucks worth :loony:

I guess you haven’t counted how many of us there really are.
Looks like the biggest class to me.

    Dan,

I can count. According to Greg’s post, Brigg’s Mod. had 7-8 @ IMI which tied you with Tag Jr.

However, that is one club race, not the entire state. If you compare the number’s to the state series, which is what we have been discussing, you will see that Brigg’s Mod. is not the largest class. Tag Master had 24, Tag Sr. 15, Tag Jr. 10, G1- 17, K2-10, K80 Jr 1- 12…. even the Kid Karts were
    larger with 12.

    So….you were saying? 😀

it sounds like you are against the senior 4 cycle. If I were to join a class this would be the one. Every time that I see these guys they have a smile on their face and they epitomise what karting should be about. HAVING FUN!!!!! DO YOU NOT GET THAT KARTING IS AN ENTRY LEVEL SPORT ALL ABOUT HAVING FUN??????? You talk about corporate sponsors and so on and whatever dont you realize that we are using port a potty’s for bathrooms???? This is supposed to be for fun. If you want to announce F-1 or nascar GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!. Im out!

No, I was making a comparison. Even IF you just look at IMI, you are at best tied with Tag Jr.

However, since you only race at IMI, you can not say that if you were to race the CSC in ’06, you would be the largest class. The numbers just don’t add up.

If the CSC were to have a Briggs class, how many driver’s would make the commitment to race a majority of the series?

why dont you drop the mic and put up or shut up!!! Race something instead of standing on the sidelines announcing!! If you are so adamant about the senior 4cycyle not being competitive, I will sponsor you next year buying you a chassis and a motor and you can kick all of these peoples asses that you seem to not like. COME ON ARE YOU FOR REAL OR ARE YOU JUST TALKING s@@t.

Don’t let all this *#%& get you down. Just like you said, the Briggs Modified class does have a lot of fun. If you would like to talk about this class, you can talk to me or Greg. No matter what happens with the csc, we will always be at IMI. Thanks Brad!!!!!
