ParticipantThat’s how we cruised through the LeMons field at HPR. 😆 😆

ParticipantThat’s impressive, but I like this guy much better, it’s more “colourful”:

I can see exactly why you relate to that video Mikey 😆

ParticipantHaving the fastest car makes things a lot easier. For a tougher situation check out this video:

ParticipantSheesh Charles, not nearly as difficult as this…

ParticipantI kind of liked the way we used to do it at IMI. Pea pick for grid in heat 1, reverse the grid for heat 2. The final grid was a combination of your finishes from 1 and 2. Kids who never saw pole could start at least a heat race up front. Fast guys were often middle and back. Made for interesting racing. Now its all to often a parade.

ParticipantSounds cool Doug, maybe we could get PPKRC to do something like that next season….. That would be fun and mix things up.

ParticipantI think Doug’s idea is great. I’ll bet the PPKRC would consider something like that. Those of us who hang around in the back of the pack would have someone to race with for a few laps.

ParticipantIt certainly adds a level of excitement to both drivers and spectators. It also teaches drivers how to pick the right moment and place to pass. It’s not something to do when there are a bunch of newbies up front just learning how to get around the circuit however. Or when championships on the line, per my comments about CRE back in the day. Never had a happy ending doing starts like that.

ParticipantGood points Curt. Maybe have the newbies in a class of their own.

ParticipantOr start the newbies in the back, until they have a determined number of starts.
Some of the best racing I ever saw was back in the old days, at Lakeside, watching a trophy dash with the “Mighty Midgets”. They always took the 4 fastest qualified cars (sometimes 6), inverted the start, and raced for 4 laps. Great Stuff!

ParticipantHey Rick,
I think I’ve tried that, but without much success.
