    Some comments:

*we all voted at the IMI meeting on this; done deal; we can’t always be jacking around after meetings where decisions are made. Since the rules haven’t come out yet, I would expect that will be the next big issue.

*seems costs are taking a priority this year-interesting. It is imperative that karting costs start retracting or this industry is going to loose karters and not allow new blood to enter.

*I would much rather see something other than trophies, rather gift certificates to exchange at local tracks (parts, fuel, fees, etc) with little plaque ID’s. For the kids trophies yes but adults, no.

*I guess we all have to determine how much money we can afford and where we want to put that money; One good thing is that as racers/consumers we carry the big stick not the track owners anymore 😀

*I would say that costs have held firm except for tires, fuel, CSC registration fees (they didn’t go down $25 they went up $50-where the heck is the money going-how about a 2005 CSC expense report to us Colorado karters?).

With seven of the nine races scheduled in the immediate Denver area, the COLORADO Sprint Championships needs to be renamed: the Denver Sprint Championships…….it’s just a cross town series between, IMI, Bandimere, The Track with another front range venue, Greeley, thrown in to the mix. It seems the expectations are that racers from the Western slope, Southern Colorado and Northen Colorado are expected to travel to the metro Denver area for the CSC with little travel involved for Denver area racers.
The CSC should be brought back to a STATEWIDE series with one race at each of the states four legitimate kart tracks on the western slope in Grand Junction, Erie on the north side of Denver, The Track located in Denver and southern Colorado’s track located in Calhan with a year end Championship event rotated between the four tracks….five races overall. This type of schedule would allow each region the opportunity to develope their own regional club programs. As it is the CSC is not bringing in new racers and with a nine race schedule is virtually killing regional club racing that should help to develope competitors for the CSC Series.
What was a State Champion Series has become a Citywide Championship Series that pales in significance to the Stars of Karting presented by IRL ,the Rotax Challenge presented by ChampCar.or even the Florida Winter Tour.
Reduce the number of races, the number of classes, set qualification requirements for the participants and then bring ALL of the state regional racers in to the Series and you have a Series of significance.

    Rich,

I understand your general point–it gets frustrating when schedules constantly change. But I disagree a bit about the vote happening at the meeting. It was not clear that there was going to be a vote at that meeting, and I, and I’ll bet others, decided to pass this time around. To quote you:

    Don,

    You beat me to it.

I want to see a MEATY AGENDA, not just one liners.

ALSO WHAT IS BEING PROPOSED BEFORE THE MEETING, so us kart racers can discuss it amoung our selves BEFOREHAND

    And to quote Angie:

As for the meeting…. It is somewhat of a tradition – we didn’t always have the internet to make announcements. Brad has had an annual meeting for IMI, before the CSC was around. The track owners agreed in the very beginning to use the meeting to announce the whole CSC idea to the karters. If you have a concern about something in particular, it helps to bring it up at the meeting. The rules will be discussed, the classes will be discussed, the schedules will be discussed, questions will be answered – but whether any monumental decisions will be made at the meeting is really unknown. If we truly want an accurate membership vote on anything, it would need to be done by mail, or at the races.

There can be a debate whether there SHOULD be a vote, but I don’t think it’s right to suggest that whatever happened at The Meeting truly represents the voice of all CSC members.

See, I agree with 5 races, it makes each race more prestigous, as well as cuts the costs in half. With this many races,i am not sure if we will make the whole CSC due to the fact we also are doing FWT, SoK, Vegas, RIGP, etc etc, and we want to run CSC as we have been running it since it started as its own org (since 03). So that being said, I personally cast my vote for 5 CSC races.

Geroge, I cannot believe you would make such a post , for the past 3 years , you have done nothing but bad-mouth our “out-law” CSC race series, putting down every attempt I made to pursuade you to join in our efforts to build kart racing all over the state.

Now apparently, after many people worked ever so hard despite all your bad mouthing you now want in, and want to throw Bandimere out !

You are the most irritating person I have ever met.

    J.B. ,

I think it’s because he has kicked out any potential racers he had .”KING George” has a wonderful track its just too bad its a kingdom and not a track that runs to written rules. He may be sanctioned by WKA however I bet he dosen’t have more than one class that runs by WKA rules. I would venture to bet all his classes are local option ready to be changed weekly at His discretion.

    George,

I’m confused as to what makes your track a legitimate track, but Bandimere is not? They have done more to support the CSC and Colorado Karting then you have.

Every time I turn around you are either bad mouthing the CSC or pointing out the fact that in your opinion Southern Colorado Karters are the best. You have even gone so far as to establish a special section on this forum so as to further distance yourself from the rest of the Colorado Karting family. Have we learned nothing from history? If I remember correctly, the last time something became a North-South issue many people were hurt and the South lost. 😕

Now you want to be part of the series, and not include Greeley, a place where we can take Karting to the masses and bring in new blood. (No pun intended).

    Sincerely,
A Southern Gentlman by birth and a CSC/Colorado Karting supporter by choice,

P.S. Didn’t I see you at the last CSC race. In fact it was even at Bandimere. Hummmmm, just slummin’ that day or what? :idn:

We are running at the four legitimate tracks in Colorado now. CRE is the only illegitimate bastard child. Greeley is not in the Denver area. Who cares where the tracks are located anyway as long as they aren?t across the street from each other or in the middle of nowhere. Fortunately all of the legitimate tracks are located close the major population centers in the state. Yours is the only one built in the middle of nowhere, smart choice! You never have a good thing to say about our series so why do you even bother commenting on something you have nothing to do with? When you sell me your track, cheap, it will be included in the CSC, until then have fun putting on races with 15 karts, one in each class, just the way you like it.

    Joe,

    Yes you are correct.

We tried to stir up a meaty agenda and nothing happened except a free-for-all as usual.

So I resigned myself to the fact that it was business as usual and voted for the Greeley race. Yes many karters had other things going on, but you have to decide on these things and not apoint a committee to review things over and over or postpone it. Greeley, needed to know and we don’t have much prep time. That is left to our government and high and mighty corporate America.
    ==============================================

The time has come that this IMI meeting be organized. If you want it that way, I will run the meeting. what that means:

*preliminary karter poll given out to kart shops/tracks, on-line at Colorado Karter and mailed out to non-returners to be returned by Nov30th

*Committee consists of track owners (5), karter representation (shifter, TaG, kids <15 yrs, 4-strokers: total of 4), secretary, CSC Reps (2 or 3), and yes kart shop owners (2 reps). Their recommendations & final agenda determined by Dec 22.

the following done by Dec 22nd:
    *track owners have schedules done
    *rules done
    *fees determined
    *weights determined
    *Classes determined
    *tires determined
    *other issues

    on agenda:
*short talk by each track owner
*intro new players in Colorado karting
    *new suggestions

*Agenda to include all of the above, to be posted on Colorado Karter, copied to local tracks and shops to give out by Jan01

*Have the IMI meeting 2nd week in Feb

All of the above will be discussed at the meeting and voted on & yes, can be changed.

If I was a newbie or novice I would wonder why does Colorado Karting seem so disorganized and do I really want to be part of it? I think us old-viagra guys better get organized, because we sure don’t look it!

Sorry if I offended anyone, but WE need to HEAR-IT and GET-IT DONE.

    =============================================

I would like to thank Shockwave for a great seminar and eats. Doug you need to do this every year. Everytime I go I learn something and meet those Newbies & novices-great bunch of newcomers this year! Thanks Doug

    Brad,

Can’t you northern track owners just get along with George!

CRE is a legit track. George is the only track in Colorado that does any marketing for the sport. Give him credit for that. Hopefully, next yr CRE will be in the CSC, it should be, the karters want it to be, but the owners don’t on both sides don’t. Kiss and make up.

It doesn’t set a good example for our young kids who read this forum when they read owners bickering. The sport’s future rides with them in Colorado. Maybe, it would be better to take that off line to private messages-right Angie!

It is getting too heated. :argue

All of the track owners get along with each other very well. George, on the other hand, has chosen his own path. He is the only track owner I have ever heard of that volunteered to testify against another in a lawsuit. I know I will not forget that anytime soon.

I do more advertising for this sport than all of the tracks in Colorado put together.

The last time I checked my stick was pretty big and I have never been afraid to use it. 👿

Rich, be careful what you wish for, either you are blind deaf or both, if you have not witnessed the insane behavior of Mr. Dirten over the past 4-5 years.
That person has done more to destroy karting in Colorado than even you can immagine.
Kiss and make up??? I think not , untill he publically appologises to all the very nice, and,(the not so very nice) people he has insulted and abused all over the state !
You sound sincere in wanting a perfect world, we are trying to be inclusive,or haven’t you noticed?
Mr.Dirten’s record speaks for it self.

    Regards, J.B.

    Rich,

As the parent of a karter I can tell you I want no part of CRE becoming part of the CSC!!!! I live 20 minutes from that track. It is a great technical track but the owner would create more problems then he already has.

    J.B.

I guess you have taken a look at George’s legal records as well. Isn’t he just a wonderful fella?
