http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=16791125Check this video Out!!!
This is Nate (sorry Forgot your last name man Embarassed ) driving his shifter to the grocery store.Tony,
If I ever catch Roman pulling some kind of crap like that, he’ll never drive a race machine supported by me again. I did some stupid stuff when I was a kid. This is just stupid to go on city streets with your kart. It is one of the reasons I supported my kids to race. Get it off of the streets! Even if you don’t hurt yourself, hurting someone else would be a horrible thing to have to live with. After all, who is expecting a kart at an intersection etc.. Have you stuck a motor that locks up the rear wheels on your kart? I have. If that were to happen, do you think the chase car (what 3500 lbs) following, is going to stop before the (385lb) kart? Think they will keep the camera rolling while trying to get their buddy out from under the car? What do you do? Grab the bumper jack? Not so cool anymore, Huh? I had a friend hit a dog on a motorcycle and it damn near killed him, pretty sure tangling with a kart wouldn’t be any better.
Maybe I am just getting old but. Look at the problems Grand Junction has had with the neighbors across the highway! Organized racing gives kids like you a place to go and do something constructive. Wonder if those same people would rather you were stealing their car stereo or retaliating by shooting at someone from a moving car in their neighborhood or, how bout supporting a drug habit by theft. You need to project the good things this sport can do and be an example of those things. Versus making what we do outlaw. Those same neighbors need to see the good our sport does instead of BS like this. So many work to legitimize our passion. Probably not going to be a huge spectator sport and that’s o.k. It is still a legitimate sport that spawns most of the top drivers in the world. And some very long lasting memories and friendships if nothing else.
No Tony. This kind of stuff does not do kart racing any good. Sure it’s cool to watch the Kart Vader video totally give our sport a black eye, wouldn’t have been so cool if he stuffed it under a car or under a guard rail. Running from the cops hammering through neighborhoods at night. Not Cool! Think you’re a bad a$$? Take it on the track. Someone wants to street race you? Take it on the track Tony. Even if it’s in rentals, send them home crying, not dead. (I’ll pay for the rentals if I have too) We loose enough young people these days. Suicide, drugs, gang violence, drinking & driving…. You fill in the blank.
Don’t support this kind of crap! I would much rather see a video of you racing it out with fellow competitors than catch footage of you running down the street in a kart. (I got a helmet cam to bolt onto to you, you can tell your friends this is REALLY cool) It pisses me off when you do a video search on youtube for shifter kart and it has sh-t like this on there as top rated. Come on! It is a serious racing machine intended to use on a closed circuit. Keep that in mind Tony. If I catch you doing something like this Tony, this cripple is going to kick your a$$.
My family occupation has been fixing cars, making them look good and go fast. When I was about your age, we were street racing and I stood there and watched a car go through a pack of my friends. We all got scared and ran. My friend Sam was under the car. It wasn’t awesome or cool anymore! Tony, race on the track. Drive on the track please. Don’t want you to think this sh-t is “awesome” or “Cool” and hear about horrible news because you think this is “awesome” or “cool”…. You see this kinda stuff. Tell your friends “thats not cool”, “you should see what I do at the track”
O.K. Buddy?
I apologize to Tony’s parents. He is a good boy! I like him very much. He has a lot of soul and spirit. My purpose is not just another teen lecture, but… I don’t think teens always realize how fine the line between cool and tragedy is.
I didn’t!
Rick
Oh yea Tony. It was Nate Dumb A$$!

InactiveSince what the guy’s doing in the video is illegal, not to mention extremely dangerous, I don’t find it “awesome” at all.

ParticipantThat is really bush league :bs: . I will bet his parents are very proud of the way he thinks.
I ditto Rick 100%. And BTW, we just burried a very dear friends son from a street fun kart hit and run. The picture of seeing Rich and his family sit there at the funeral will be forever embossed in my mind.August 28, 2007 at 9:53 pm #59220Anonymous
InactiveRick,
I will second everything you said. Sometimes what seems cool at first is REALLY STUPID when the initial WOW wears off. I too will call the Cop’s if I see something like this happening.Getting a city to agree to a street course is tough enough with-out garbage like this popping up. Trust me, the people that have to sign off on letting a temp course set up in their Park, City, or Parking Lot (think Greeley and Littleton…even Home Depot Corp.) check out the Karting website’s before they make the final decision.
I must also question the 2 Cop’s that the Driver claim’s to have passed that did nothing. I’m sure City Council would be thrilled to know that they chose to do nothing.
I must also let those of you that have not met Tony know, that it was not him in the video. Tony is a good kid whose major short-coming is that he is a hugh Tony Stewart fan. 😆

ParticipantBy request of Nathan I’ve removed the video from this thread, so maybe he wont come under to much more of an attack.
Sorry nate, didn’t think people were gonna take it like this. My Bad

ParticipantHere’s “awesome” for you, and a much better role model (if you need such a thing)… Lewis Hamilton at age 13. The interview at the start is interesting to watch, given his current activities…

ParticipantIf you like seeing karts on the street, there are so many good examples. I did not know this was your friend and hate to be too harsh but stand back and look at the big picture.

Boy is that an understatement. This guy’s looking to be the next Darwin award recipient and you think that’s cool.
Here’s a lesson that my Dad gave to me when i was 15 and a half:
He took my brother and I to the City of Las Vegas Morgue and we got to “view” a teenage drunk driver. My Dad’s comment to both of us was, “I don’t EVER want to have to come down here with your mother and have to identify either one of you, EVER. What do you think it would do to your mother, let alone me?Over 2 decades later and that’s still stuck in my mind. Perhaps you and your buddy ought to have a field trip there yourselves. And any other people who think these type things are cool….

InactiveQuit rippin on Tony. I am sure it is not that big of a deal. It’s only a video. Get a life and get OVER it. So now put that in your juice box and suck it.

ParticipantNumber One, Snapperhead:
No one is ripping on Tony. If we didn’t care about Tony we wouldn’t say a thing about Tony and allow him to do what he wants.
In the old days it took a village to raise a kid. That’s pretty much what we’re doing here, that’s all.Same thing with cheaters. In the old days we’d take em out back and break their hand with a hammer (I’m from Las Vegas). Now we glorify them and make shows about how they cheat. Cheaters got NO respect and were avoided like the plague. I wish karting had the same ethic and consequence.
FYI since you’re new. It is always a good thing to put down a signature to a post especially if you’re new. People think your hiding behind a keyboard if you don’t. Just a suggestion.
