Mike,
Very pretty new girlfriend. I saw her pic on facebook, proud of you man….BTW, have you told her how fast you are in a kart, or is there still time for a truthful relationship with her? Just wondering here. Have fun buddy, see you soon.

ParticipantSeriously, Mike, she’s too hot for you. All of us are just looking out for you because we care. She may want (need) to meet the man in the mask.

ParticipantYuk it up ya Ultramaroons!
I told Jill do you realize what you’re subjecting yourself to. I then told her my buddy Dave is the kindest and gentlest of my friends. Here’s the banter that night:
Dave: Mike, my wife says you brought a date, what’s his name?
Matt: Mike, nice date, how much does she cost you an hour or do you pay for the whole night?
Brother: Bro, Klaire (my niece) told me you were dating a babe. Is this one real or another virtual girl?NOTHING you humps say can get possibly worse than New Years. Although I told her the photos the race boyz have of me were all photoshop projects!
This is the worse time of the year. No Formula 1, no Karting, no Indy. Only football playoffs and BBC America repeats of TOP GEAR. Okay, so it’s not so bad after all!
Those that are heading to warmer climates this weekend to race: Good luck and have fun!

Participant#2 Mikey…….Are you saying we can’t make it any worse or are you hoping we don’t, which is it?
Never underestimate a bored karter! :stirI’m just say’n

ParticipantMikey #1, if you are using the statement, “I’m just sayin’ ” then you’re already talking to her! That’s one of her faves…
There is NOTHING that i would put past a karter sitting in sub zero weather so I’m braced and expecting the worst! 8)
But she’s seen my snow driving/drifting skills and thinks I’m the second coming of Gilles “volvo” :bang
We’re sitting down next time to watch an F1 race AND the DVR’d Race the Rockies races. She’ll be up to snuff by spring or the first F1 race. AND know how to pronounce Villeneueve correctly…Mikey #2

ParticipantJeff:
Very Cool, I saw this many years ago and it’s still fabulous. I watched alot of these guys in awe in my youth, saw Cevert win his only Can-Am win, Stewart racing in the Can-Am, and must have seen Revson in a dozen races. Saw a few of them in F1 in 1976-78 also — those who survived at least.
This gives great perspective on Emmo, too. We tend to think of him as an Indy Car driver in the States, but that was really late in his career — and a very secondary use of his talents.
While I respect today’s drivers a lot, I think these guys were far more courageous. That made them better drivers, IMHO. It’s MUCH harder to be on the edge when your life depends on it. Today is amazingly safe by comparison. I’d liken racing in F1 then to racing a kart today on a street course lined with razor blades and anvils. No exaggeration here, if you saw it you know what I mean.
Thanks for the link, it made a nice use of my second monitor while working today.

ParticipantJeff, thanks that was great!
This was the 1973 season when Stewart came back and won the championship and then Watkins Glen happened with Cevert…
Emmo was incredible, one has to wonder had he not raced for his brother’s team (??? Coopersucar???) how many more championships would he have won? But then again the Ferrari 312T came out two years later and dominated. But then that was supplanted by the Lotus 78 Mario won with in… 1978!
I really wish you younger guys could have seen the racing then. THAT, was racing at it’s best. The procession we get now is… lacking… - AuthorPosts
