ParticipantHey Don! I had purchased an animal prior to not knowing of the CSC being sanctioned by SKUSA. I then switched to the K80 , and the reasons are numous, but the most important was my past experiance with Travis.
After he won the Rocky Mountain SKUSA 80 jr championship in 1999- I applied for an S1 license for him, Skusa had me send his resume and @ 14 Yrs of age he was granted the license-well that was not a good move on my part as it was too much to soon. The Point I’m stating is ” faster is not always better”, and with Ryan coming out of the kid kart class I felt the move to a slower engine would produce a better learning experiance as to becoming faster by being a smoother driver with less HP vs fighting the high HP of the animal. Granted once Ryan has more seat time then
he will move on to the next level( which is ?). So I will reinerate your statement of whats safer and still competitve for my 8 yr old, I now know the right choice was made for my driver, just hope they are ran as a stand alone class- per Skusa rules.
Don hope to see you and your son in the CSC this season!Ron Rudolph
ParticipantI now have better knowledge as to what applies to this issue, and being so I agree that all SKUSA rules should apply, It is what it is and I feel confident that the CSC will take the safety of ALL our Drivers as a Priority.

ParticipantGood day Angie! Question are these rules sanctioned by IKF or WKA.
The reason I ask is because I purchased an engine locally. The seller bought it from a national engine and Kart builder ( Ron Emmick), which before I purchased the engine, I contacted Ron Emmick and he stated the engine was legal in both IKF/WKA. But after reading the rules for the comer 80, some questions are apparent. My concerns are that with Jr1 having three engines in the same heats, the comer’s are going to be a possibble safety hazard to the faster non-comer engines. So perhaps maybe allowing some mods for the CSC, do to the arrangement of the Jr1
class in the CSC series? Correct me if I’m wong but the animals have no fly wheel key in order to set the timing for our altitude which increases performance, and the exhaust pipe is an open Item as well? What would be the disadvantage of using the VEVEY PIPE and allowing the fly wheel key to be removed? and or an Open air Filter or is a conventional open ?Last year clutch was open, can the clutch be blue printed? Also why is the 10 tooth a #35 chain only
( comer 80 )
Please Advise :rotate:Ron Rudolph

Wideopen!!!, yes I too checked into the 80cc Comer and it was about $1600 for a motor and to have “magic” done to it from Woltjer. In fact a lot of these parts from that side of pond are going to continue to rise due to the Euro-Dollar exchange. This reason alone may help make the Animal a viable solution for several more years. I can have two Animal motors with the “magic” done to them plus have them each rebuilt mid-season and still be cheaper than the minimax motor. At this time we are going with the Animal since we are well ground in it even though a buddy of mine is suggesting a Gazelle ($1600) since that is probably the best choice for the future as long as we are SKUSA bound. That Easy Kart 60cc sure looks tempting! After more is said than done, we here within Colorado are at least lucky that SKUSA-CSC is accommodating and giving those hated ?potato diggers? a chance to show their stuff.
Hey Don, I have to agree, if it’s not broke why fix it ! Animal owners I’m sure are greatful for the governing bodies allowing them to run in the series! It does appear the animal has handed the comer a challenge in power and besides I just might wait until next year to break the bank on that nitro-methane mini tag whatever engine  p.m. me in regards to our last phone conversation,Thanks!

Wideopen!!! I understand your comments and I too think we are in for some serious issues with this Jr. 1 arrangement. My opinion is if we are going to go SKUSA, let’s go SKUSA and drop the Animal and Minimax classes. Make the Tag Cadet based upon Gazelle as SKUSA does and the Jr1 on the 80cc Comer and be done with it.
Hey Don 🙂 I’ve called some engine builders on the west coast and can you say $2500.00 for a national blue printed K80 :liao: That we will only utilize for 1 year 😳 As who knows what will change next year! I’m feelin like the Gazelle or Easy Kart might be the ticket, but in all reality how many animals are going to convert ? Even to a comer! So unless we JR1 parents determine what is best for our Drivers and our wallets then I’m feeling that the animal will still have a strong hold in our region. :idn:

ParticipantI’m Wondering how the Easykart 60- would fare in the Jr 1 class or perhaps with the 80 comers?
