ParticipantApparently the Ratio Rite is the simplest plan.
http://www.motoworldracing.com/Ratio-Rite.htmlKeep in mind, I am not talking from experience, but it was suggested when I was looking at 2 stroke motors.

Nice, Josh. Steve has our kart and may be out at IMI in the next few days if you want to catch up with him.
I think Steve will be meeting me out there today, more than likely to show me how it’s done 🙂

ParticipantThanks guys, I will be out at IMI every chance that I can get! That place is pretty close to my house. If I could convince them to open earlier I would be there every day. 😉

ParticipantWell, it is official! After much deliberation and discovering that every new thing that I learn opened up about 50 other things that I need to learn, I bought a Kart.
KGB Espionage with a Biland Motor. I am already trying to get out of work early today so I can go up to IMI and drive for a while.

PINTO!? Man that’s old news. I have moved on from that. I have moved up to some nice mid 80’s cars. I have a Fiesta restore going on now. You know you’re gonna be jealous when you see me towin’ my new kart behind a freshly restored fiesta.
Hell, I may even make a custom Kart roof rack for it too.. or paint them so they match… yeah.. thats the ticket.
Hey, I bought an enduro kart once from a guy who used to take it to the races on top of a Honda 600 (for those too young, that’s a car with a 600cc engine). And he was 6’7″, 275 lbs.
Josh, with the competitive skills you’ve shown on this forum, the actual racing won’t be a problem.
Thanks Kurt, but you haven’t seen me drive yet so we will see :rotate:
It always seems that the biggest people have the smallest cars. You wonder how they get in and out of them sometimes.

ParticipantNo way! I wouldn’t let them get me down, I know they are just havin’ fun!

A Subaru? Next thing you’ll tell us is you wear rainbow shirts and stuff. Not that that’s a bad thing, to each his own.
You probably have a Pinto restoration going on, doncha…
Or a GREMLIN or PACER
Oh the humanity of it all:bang

But for now I have to suffer along with my Suby. Poor thing can just barely get out of its own way.

Look at what you post here, it’s a rough crowd.
Aww, I am used to it. The Subaru community that I belong to is way harsher than that!
CameraCourage
ParticipantOhh…yeah, about that… No, simply a typo. Somehow I corrected Insite with incite instead of insight. So complicated. :idn:

ParticipantI went down and talked to Charles last night. He is a wealth of information! Thanks again Charles, I really appreciate all the incite!

ParticipantA friend was in town today and he is a Sim racing guy. So I made him head down to the track to run some rentals. Anyhow, he came off the session and just said “Lets go again!” so about 10 minutes later we were out on the track!
That just makes me want to pull the trigger more! I am looking at 2 karts, one is a bit newer and 2 stroke, and 1 is a bit older and 4 stroke. I am going to head over to IMI either today or Monday to talk a bit about the motor and chassis on the 4 stroke kart to see what the story is. What needs to be done to make it current.
I really appreciate the responses that you guys have had. All the reading on this forum, the PM’s from members and the responses in this thread and previous threads that I have started are a great motivater to pull the trigger even though my schedule is going to be pretty hecktic this fall. The community seems like a good strong base, so I am psyched.

ParticipantYeah, I know that I won’t have a complete no maintenance setup and I would be disappointed if I didn’t get to get my hands dirty at least a little bit. But I don’t want to get into a situation where I am wrenching more than I am driving!
Rick and Charles, Thanks for the offer. I will definitely contact you guys. I have the bug and I am on my way. My garage is clean, I bought a helmet and a hitch. I have a trailer on the way and I am just looking for a Kart to fill in that space in my garage.
Joe, if you want to send over what you have, I would be interested in checking it out. I have my eye on a specific Kart right now, but…you never know… if yours is a better deal, or a better Kart, then I can be swayed.
Thanks,
JoshCameraCourage
ParticipantThanks, I appreciate that. One of my problems currently is that I am working weekends which takes away from my ability to get out to the races to chat with folks. That is one of the reasons for this thread.
I have been searching plenty and found plenty of info, I am just looking for anything anyone has to add.
Thanks!

Looks pretty slick, wonder if it limits being able to turn around and look behind you while in a kart though…
It doesn’t look like it, they have a video of the fitment on there
