$20 for a “Mechanics License”??? Uh, Jim, I get the point of a driver’s license, but what’s up with this?? I’ve never been charged for a mechanics hard card at a national race, where it at least makes sense for limiting access to parc ferme. Does it substitute for a pit pass on race days? If not, it looks like the cost of racing has just gone up again with no apparent benefit for the racer (or the mechanic). I thought the idea was to make racing more affordable, especially in this economy?? :bang

    Jim,

Website looks very good. Well rounded.

Congrats on the Pepsi Center race–should be a blast! :jump

Thanks for infor about the Rotax races you will be having. 🙂

I assume if you are a Driver/Mechanic you do not need both liscenses only the Drivers Liscense?

    Joe;
the mechanic license fee is to partially cover “Heineken” cost,
as all mechanics are welcome @ the DOGHOUSE!

Nice site, Jim. Well done to whoever did that upgrade.

Guys,It seems the $20/year for the tuner is better than paying the $15 or $30 or whatever/weekend for the regionals. The only downside I see is if you were paying the $20 for a different tuner at each event, but that isn’t much different from how it was.

I look forward to seeing you guys at a club race, then at GJMS.

    2 more comments.

Great idea to just use SKUSA S3 rules.

If the (most?) dates are firm for RTR, I suggest including that info in the hyperlinks for the events on this page. http://www.thetrack.us/index.php?s=41

Very Cool website. No big thing on the $20.00 Mech free in my opinion, if it’s for the race season. Keeps the grid, scales and tech area clear for essential personnel only, I like it. Hey, we are just 6 weeks away from the first club race. Still got to nail down an engine package. :boo:

To clear thing up a bit…
A driver does not need both.
If you have a tuner, and would like their help in pre grid, or post scales, they will need their access card to get to you.
    Thanks,
    Jim

On a side note, I’m very, very thankful for all the license holders we have as of today. Mike Edwards gets the prize of a free set of MG tires, because he signed up first with both driver and mechanic, bud did so within 15 min. of the site being live, and without any announcement from us.

I am at Kart Expo this weekend, and will be back Sat night.
Carolyn has all the information, and we are hitting the ground running.
    Thanks again,
    Jim

I guess HOPE and CHANGE is alive and well…….I just happened to click on the link for “The Track” and up pops the new site. Just like Richard Petty once said, it’s better to be lucky than good!

    Thanks Jim

    Jim –

Can you please clarify for me? The Track schedule appears as though the Rotax dates are commensurate with the club dates. If so, can you please comment on the questions below?

Will you separate out the Rotax’s or run mixed classes (by ‘mixed classes’ I mean Rotax and non-Rotax of the same type, ie – Club TaG Masters & Rotax Tag Masters on track at the same time)? I’m assuming that for the Club Races a driver may race whatever motor s/he wishes as well as run MG Tires which are not allowed (I know you know this just trying to keep it clear) by Rotax? Also, I believe the Rotax Masters weight is #405 and, if memory serves, SKUSA/TAG USA Masters weight is #390.

Or, will the Rotax Masters run independent of ‘standard’ Club Masters effectively yielding two of each affected class per event?

Or, finally, have I missed the boat entirely and Rotax events are run on one weekend day with Club being run on the other?

    Thanks.

I also have a question Jim,

I plan on getting a drivers card for The Track. However for me there will be races that I am at where I will be tuning instead of racing, will I need a mechanics card for that or will my drivers pass just cover me for all of it?

    Thanks Jim!

Hey Idiot! (sorry Tony, you asked for it)

I looks like you will not be welcome in Tag Master at any of The Tracks races. (if I’m reading the rules right) For the first time since we’ve raced sprint karts (this time around anyway) Tag Masters is age based only. If you want to run at Centennial and have a chance to be competitive, you’ll need to buy a shifter motor. If you look around the country, most series that offer both Tag and Rotax racing, The Tag Masters is closer in alignment with the Rotax belief in giving the younger heavier drivers a place to race. The series that are more shifter / adult based keep all of the Masters classes age based.

I suppose there are a few schools of thought there. Some are tired of getting beat by the kids. And, I have had calls from some of the front runners in Tag Masters who like mixing it up with drivers like Chad, Jason, Roman, Tony etc… They actually love racing against the fastest guys, regardless of age. They are going to have to race them in the other series it looks like.

Information you should know when scheduling your 2009 racing budget Tony.

Congrats on the tires Mikey. Your luck may be looking good for 09′

    Rick,

Are you sure? Are you referring to “TaG Masters TaG USA by weight 35+” or ” Masters (age 35+) ” from the posting on TTAC site? Have you confirmed this with Jim? Why would we after all this time not include everyone possible? That doesn’t make any sense. That is what makes TAG Master fun!! It has to be a just an oversight in the verbage.

    Tom
