Okay, time for some maintenance and expirimenting, I’ve got some more questions for you guys.

Currently I’m running a 13 tooth front sprocket and a 73 tooth rear on my Rotax. I’m getting ready to stock up on sprockets and I have a couple of questions. Should I go ahead and pick up all 3 (11, 12, and 13 tooth) front sprockets? What’s a good range of sprocket sizes to have for running at IMI and TTAC? Also, what is an ideal gearing for both tracks, given a fat driver, almost 200lbs?

Also, what is everybody using for balance shaft case oil? I’m about to change mine out.

Also, when Brad helped me out fixing my clutch he used a red grease for the needle bearing. What is everybody else using for needle bearing lube?

Ohh yeah, one other thing. I think this was answered in another thread before but I can’t recall the answer. Whats a good range of jets to have on hand?

I think that’s all for now. As always I’m sure there will be more later.

No need for the 11 tooth driver in Colorado. We use a 12 at The Track and a 13 at IMI and GJ.

For rear sprockets, you will need the following
    76, 77, 80, 81

For a master weight kart, add a tooth or two to each size.

For grease, you can use any thing you want. I use a Motul product but white grease or any good wheel bearing grease will work.

For oil, I use a straight 30w motor oil. Non-detergent if you can find it.

For jets, you need most of the stuff in the 15X range.

    Excellent.

    Thanks Doug.

So 12 and 13 for the driver and Rears ranging from say 77-83 should be a good start then?

Anybody got any suggestions on good starting points for IMI and TTAC? Being in Brighton I haven’t gotten out to TTAC yet, but at IMI with my current setup my RPMs seem to drop a bit low.

I’m currently at ratio of 5, 62. I’ve heard that 6, 50 is a good place to start at IMI and 7, 64 for TTAC. Does this sound right?

TTAC: start with 12/83, drop to 12/82 if need be.
IMI: start with 13/78, drop to 13/77 if needed.
