This past Thursday morning(3/20) my mom and I arrived in Grand Junction for a absolutley awesome, butt-kicking 5 day test up at GJMS. (Oh and by the way the temps up ther probaly got as high as 70 degrees)
After visiting GJMS once back in June of ’07 to fill in for Kurt to do PR, I knew the track had to be fun and a challenging layout, and wanted to drive it very badly. Well all I can say is, that after 5 solid days hanging out at that track from sun up till sun down, for any of you racers on our side of the mountain, considering to make the trek to GJMS, DO IT!!!!!!!
Grand Junction is a an AWESOME track with a fun and challenging lay out, and is almost smoother than IMI!But what honestley made this trip so enjoyable for my mom and I, was simply the people.
After spending a week at the Cook’s track I dont know if I know a track owner/track family that will bend over backwards as much as the Cook’s do to help some one. After constantley bombarding them with questions, requests for help, and running in and out of their shop fixing things on my kart. Stacey, Darren, and their staff not only were able to remedy every problem I was experiancing, they were all ways checking to see if the adjustments we made were helping me, and if not they were helping me figure out my next move on the chassis.
And somthing else about GJMS that makes it so amazing, its incredible facilities. I mean after a year and a half of my family coming to the tracks here on our side of the mountain and experiancing those tracks and facilities, my mom could not actually belive that a go-kart track could have in door rest rooms. 😯 😮
An air conditioned buliding with actual tables and chairs to sit on inside and watch the racing out of the window. It was all great.
So bottom line, if your even debating on wether or not you should take the trip to GJ for a weekend of driving.
QUIT DEBATING AND GET YOUR KART IN YOUR TRAILER AND GET OVER THER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am very excited for June to roll around just so I can get to go back to this 1st class track, and 1st class people.

It really is one of the most unique, and modern facilities in the US. Also the Cook family and their generosity know no bounds, it has been this way since it opened. I hope to drive GJMS again someday! :sun:

A FIVE DAY test? Wow! You will be a force to be reckoned with this year if you continue to test and work as hard as you have in the preseason. Good job!

We are constantly trying to improve the facility and make it a great experience for all… Tony keep up the hard work, seat time is the key… Mark get your butt back here for the CSC race, we would love to have you..

But right now here on the home front, things arent going very well, and I doubt I’ll be even racing the CSC this year.
The thought of not getting to go back to GJMS possibly this year is very frighting for me, but is a very real possobility. - AuthorPosts
