Participant😕 Just remember where you heard it first.
Stand by for news…….

ParticipantWhat, news that Ford pulled out as the engine supplier or news that Ford isn’t the primary sponsor? Or that Chump might only have 10 cars to start the season that’s only 2 months away. Or that Idiot Racing League and Chump MIGHT finally step away from the crack pipe and actually merge?
Bitter, party of one out…

ParticipantThat news in the Gazett that Savannah is referencing is dead, it blew up around Wednesday. There are other groups getting close that have a more realistic plan to give folks with cars a place to run.

InactiveIT IS NOW OFFICIAL –
Champ Car axes Denver race The Champ Car World Series today announced the postponement of this season?s Denver Grand Prix, which was to be run on August 15.
The event, which has run for the last five seasons around the Pepsi Center in downtown Denver, will be removed from the 2007 calendar due to concerns over time conflicts with the facilities surrounding the temporary street course. Efforts to find a replacement date that accommodated the Pepsi Center and Champ Car, as well as the University of Colorado Auraria Campus that borders the track layout, were unable to find a suitable date that fit unto the series? race schedule. In addition, Denver?s status as the host city for the Democratic National Convention in 2008 will force Champ Car to keep the event off of the ?08 calendar as well.
?The strong attendance numbers, the backing the event received from the corporate sector as well as the city and county government, and the support of the people of Denver have shown that a Champ Car event can flourish there,? said Champ Car President Steve Johnson. ?Champ Car has made a major investment in building this event over the last five years. We are committed to making every effort to returning to the Mile High City as soon as a viable replacement date can be found.?
The postponement reduces to 16 the number of events on the 2007 Champ Car World Series schedule, the largest number of races on the Champ Car calendar since the 2003 season. Champ Car PR

ParticipantYou needed an official press release to know that until Chump and Idiot Racing League merge it’s all dead but for the Indy 500?
Bitter, party of one out…
PS do you also need a body to say that Jimmy Hoffa’s dead? 8)

ParticipantThe 500 is dead too! The whole month of May is dead for that matter. (racing)
However, the party on Georgetown and 16th still rages on! It’s more of a happening on Memorial day, than an actual race!

There used to be an actual “bump day”!
Of course, there’s nothing like hanging around family, drinking beer and eating a brat at 8 in the morning, waiting for the breaded tenderloins to come out of the fryer!
Better yet, yelling at girls, “show us your T _ _ S ” Not that I encourage that type behaviour…It doesn’t matter, when Jim Nabors sings “Back home again in Indiana”; The flyby; the parade lap of cars and the start, auto racing doesn’t get any better than that. If the hairs on the back of your neck aren’t up during those times then you’re officially brain dead. 8)

ParticipantMari Hulman George’s cry of “ladies and gentlemen start your engines” still gives me goose bumps and draws a tear in my eye.
Ladies = Danica and Sarah

InactiveI too remember when the 500 was much more of an event than it is now. However, I cannot recall when the racing was more competitive than it is now. The good ole days everyone talks about usually resulted in 2 or 3 cars on the lead lap at the end. Now a pack of 12-15 are never more than 5 seconds apart.
NAPCAR can have all of the press and soap-opera TV, I will take the racing in Indycar today over the good ole days anytime. Just get rid of the street parades and add in natural road courses like Road America and Laguna Seca.
Go Sam !!!!

InactiveNow if we can only get Greeley moved from Memorial Day Weekend. I gave my kids the choice of skipping Indy and racing in Greeley or going to the 500. They looked at me like I had two heads and said “I can’t believe you are even thinking about skipping the 500.”
Score Indy=2 Greeley=0
It stinks because I have heard good things about the race at Greeley. Please, please move the date so we don’t have to make such a tough choice.

ParticipantThe competition level is greater, I completely agree! But, I do not beleive in professional spec racing. The cars are all the same and it took inginuity out of the equation. Inginuity and development is what helped make the 500 what it was.
It’s not the fault of the organization. Technology just pushed the envelope too far.

ParticipantRick: toes…. you keep thinking that okay… And for your information I wax weekly at the Korean Massage Parlor at least I think that’s a waxing 😆
I agree about the 500. I wouldn’t miss it for the Greeley race. Indy’s bigger N karting. At least on that weekend it is. Besides, it’s been a while since we’ve heard, ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!
Course, if Rick raced we’d have heard that years ago 😆
They’d call him THE FLAMING THONG… 😆February 2, 2007 at 10:38 pm #56142Anonymous
