We’re incredibly lucky to have 5 tracks in the state–let’s use ’em. CRE maynot be quite as wide as some of the other tracks, but it’s smooth, technical, and has good runout areas. The hairpin can be tricky and demand courtesy, but there are other passing areas. And if George can get the extension in by next season, so much the better.

We too have enjoyed Steamboat, and would like to head back. GGP was also fun, though I really didn’t like having those curbs on the fastest part of the course. But with only 5 races, I’d imagine there will be plenty of interest in racing both locations even if they’re not part of the CSC series.

It’s time to race CRE as part of the CSC!

I’m new to karting and the CSC and I’ve never been to the Springs’ track. I agree with the previous post about using what we have. If there is a good track let’s run it!!

The statement about racing at CRE would be better for Colorado Karting is right on the mark IMHO. There are a lot of folks who only race at CRE and bringing the CSC race down there might entice them to venture out to other CSC events. Thus building Colorado Karting.

People can still go attend other events, but the focus should be to support the permanent (we hope) Colorado Tracks. Thus again building Colorado Karting!!!! :sun:

We love temp circuits. I agree with Rick and Curt!! Plus I love to see you guys work and I have a better chance to see one of them change an axel or something if there are hay bails involved.. I know I didn’t make the meeting go a head and yell at me :argue .. but why are we going from 9 races to 5. I think we should have the boat and Greeley for points 6 races.. :idn:

I have been racing in the CSC series and CRE this last year 06. I am a first timer and I live in Southern Colorado.

I attended both Grand Juction Races with CSC
I also raced in the GGP.
    I finished the CRE series.

I am planning on running the CSC events again next season. Fewer races I am in favor of. Five sounds like a very good number. When I leave the club racing I want to race the best, and hopefully improve my skill, as well as I look forward to well promoted events where the racers are made to fill special, and thats what the GGP did for me even if I didn’t do well. I would really hate to miss a special event like this. The CSC events also have the form of feel good racing that I like to participate in and want to spend my money.
CRE is a quality track! The club racers are great and will make great hosts. I really would like to see CRE in the CSC series.

So I want both events because they both have merits, that I would enjoy and want to be there!
    6 races so bad?

My own selfish desires would be to have CRE in the CSC schedule along with GGP and Steamboat races. GGP was great this past year and I think it will only be better next time. Temp tracks are great fun and equalize it for the drivers and tuners so, I’m for Steamboat. CRE is a great track to drive and would bring every track in Colorado into play. Just my own selfish two cents worth.

Does Mike Jensen work or just play on this forum? He is always posting on here. I guess my problem is that I am always reading them. Great stuff! Great thoughts Mike!

I’m fairly new into karting, but have worked on other events and the more tracks we can get involved from a wider area, the better. An event at CRE might bring some of their racers to other tracks, benefitting all CO Karting.

Dave Letterman Top 10 reasons I post:
    1) beats sitting on hold (waiting for an immediate response on a work issue) and doing nothing
    2) Most the time I’ve got something to say, most the time
    3) I sleep less than most (check out what time I’m posting)
    4) I try to keep my posts humourous if the subject is getting way too serious
    5) I miss being at the track!
    6) 800 posts over 4 years is a lot, however, it works out to 200 a year or 16 a month or less than one a day
    7) A lot of my posts are bumps :k
    8. Want to outpost VITO 8)

Okay so there’s not 10 reasons, so shoot me…

Honestly George’s track is my favorite and has been for the past 5 years. CRE is a fast, technical, and demanding track. I learned everything i know at that track. I would gaurantee every one involved in Co. Karting would enjoy and benifit from including CRE in the CSC. George is one of the greatest guys I’ve ever met in racing, he’s just commonly missunderstood. Unlike lots of business men and track owners George IS NOT in it for the money he is there for the Rising stars and the friendly Coloradan, just trying to have fun!! Personally I say we run it but thats just my opinion. I loved the Temp tracks GGP, and SSGP, but if you know me personally you probably know that me and Hey bails dont get along too well and they aren’t very forgiving. And all that stuff about no good passing opportunities at CRE, you can pass anywhere you just gotta learn how to race smart, if you see there nose let em go just get um back the next lap, thats what makes for good racing. SOO I SAY LETS DO IT!!!

The 2006 season in the TAG Senior class was my first and it was a great one.

9 races maybe to many but 5 does not seem to cover the field in CO.

The GGP was one of the best promoted races on the schedule and I would hate to lose that one plus it is a temp track. Steamboat is also a great place to race and temp tracks help us adapt faster on set-ups and is good training for nationals. But I would love to race at CRE and that gives us another track to learn, tune, and master. Lets use our resources here in CO and go racing. Is 6 or 7 races out of the question? I vote for seven.

7 races would be great….but i think keeping the 5 regular tracks as “points races” and the temp tracks optional ala RockIsland G.P., etc would make it a lot cheaper and easier for most people to try and be at all 5 events. Thats almost half the tire bill of a 9 race deal…..a move in the right direction for karting if you ask me. I mean, no offense, but 9+sets of tires minimum (more like 15) is a $2300 hit + entry fees, fuel, chains, sprockets=$3500 bucks or so for local racing.

    Good morning,
This post comes from Jim Keesling the racer and not The Track at Centennial.

Please don’t confuse CSC with a race as a go or no-go.

I plan on racing at Greeley this year. It should be fun, but part of the CSC or not shouldn’t make any difference to the racer. GO, have fun, try your best, promote the sport.

Don’t think that because it is not a points race it is any less of a race. The SuperNationals aren’t part of any series, nor is Rock Island. It doesn’t make any difference. They are great races. GGP should be looked at the same way…One Great Race. Plan on going if it fits into YOUR schedule.

    My two cents…

    Jim (the racer)

I agree with Jim on the GGP. Street racing is one of the most technical and demanding forms of motor racing. It takes balls to take a kart to the limit with hay bails inches from you. And theres a reason why rock island is one of the most popular karting events of the year.

I know there are a lot of variables but, I really miss running the State Championship at the permanant tracks and deciding it at a temp track like Steamboat. What a treat. The late fall finish was a little risky, but if the number of races is reduced we could run there a little earlier in the season. But it was my favorite way to conclude a point championship series. Nuetral playing field for the battles to be decided. Kind of a mini vacation in a beautiful place with great racing and no home field advantage. True test of tuners and drivers, one of the things that attracts people to the “big” temp circuit races. Many temp circuits are points races and some of the best in my opinion. Plus it seems like the Utah and west slopers should be considered. We seem to have lost more numbers of west slope racers than east slope racers, The loss would be more of an impact if the Utah teams hadn’t started participating.

The GGP was probably our favorite race in Colorado last year (all were fun) and we would run that race again except this year we will be out of town. Also, the races scheduled on holidays thing. For me, I would seriously miss GJMS on July 4th. I personally think it is a big mistake changing that date, fireworks, golf, hanging with friends, a little extra time to travel etc… I don’t think you can compare the july 4th weekend to Memorial Day. Labor day, wouldn’t have a problem racing. But Memorial Day is a hard one. Last year is the first year I haven’t taken my Grandma to visit my Grandpa’s grave since the 80’s, graduations / weddings going on. Just seems like more of a family related weekend than any others, including Mothers Day. (I know, Indy 500) We understand the taking what is offered as far as dates go, but we are going to be victims of a schedule conflict this year ourselves. Hopefully, this date can be adjusted at some point.

Let Cre be a no points stand alone and see if it works then implement into series next year. Might bring a few So Co racers into the fold. From the Satelite photo’s looks like a great Tag track, shifter track, I don’t know. I know they had a Stars race there but it’s just an observation. We’d have to see. Sounds like most of the decisions have been made for the upcoming season by the track owners already anyway, as far as, where, how many and roughly when.

Garret, I’ll slap a couple of axles in, but remember you guys are the last ones to close your trailer door at night. Probably down there polishing. :idn:
