I would like to use this thread to gauge the number of folks who are interested in racing in any of the 206 classes that have been proposed.
If 206 racing interests you, please reply to this thread and include the following information.
What you are interested or committed to?
How many drivers?I commit to relaying this information all the promoters that are interested in having a 206 class. I would like to get them information in the next few weeks. I will watch this thread, and when activity slows down, I will give the promoters a call.
The proposed classes are
The Track at Centennial has 10 races in the calendar. They have published that if enough interest is shown, they will run a 206 class. The specific rules such as weight and tires has not been published.
Pikes Peak Karting Club has a policy of running all racers, and if there are 4 karts, they consider that a class. They are having serious talks about establishing and promoting a 4-stroke class, and the 206 motor is a big part of those talks.
Stan has posted a note about having a 206 option for the Rocky Mountain Region of SKUSA. That is 6 races.
There is an open question is of tires. I’m hoping for used MOJO’s or some other tire that is common in the valley and available used. We might also consider MG Red’s. Regardless, my experience is that 4-stroke karts run a long time on tires, so there is no real need to replace tires all the time.
There is also an open question of weight. I would propose that we have a single Senior 206 class with a weight of 350 to 365. These karts are so light, that most folks will end up adding weight regardless.
There is also an option of open tire, open weight for the first season in an effort to see what emerges from the drivers as their wants and needs.

I have two drivers.
I will buy a couple of 206 motors and replace my clones.

Interested, however, not committing until a class structure with legit rules has been defined. I’ve already heard that some series and tracks may not be running the same rules, tires, fuel, oil and weights.
Humbly suggest running the same rules as they are running at the FWT. If I’m not mistaken, believe they are running Briggs 206 pure rules on the engine package, which is box stock, spec. green air filter, Redline 20WT oil, RLV 206 exhaust kit and pump gas. I believe the tires are MG Reds or similar compound Bridgestones, (5×6 vice 7.10 rear wheels). Weights 340lbs Senior and 360lbs Master. Oh, by the way, CJKC runs the Max-Torque Draggin Skin clutch. May want to consider a spec. clutch as well.
My 2 cents. Good Luck Richard………………..

January 22, 2014 at 2:01 pm #66844Rodney EbersoleParticipantIf a spec tire is mandated, I would suggest to allow Scott Falcone used tires in the program. Only 5″ wheels allowed should be in the rules as I have found 6″ wheels and tires to be faster. I really don’t see the need to spec a clutch either, as the fastest time around a track in a Briggs I have found is when I ran them direct drive with no clutch. The only 206 failure I have seen was from one of them newer clutches that have too short of a key out on the end of the shaft that broke the key way on the crank. That was at kids weight. Old Noram and Horstman clutches work just fine.
Being easy on the rules during the birth of an adult industrial 4 stroke class IMO would be best this year.
I can’t commit myself to race the 206, but I will help someone that would like to race the one I have.January 22, 2014 at 5:22 pm #66845David WatkinsParticipantHow light are these things? Would need to be 160 lbs or less for a larger guy like me to compete with a 360 lbs Masters weight and I somehow doubt that’s possible………..
January 23, 2014 at 10:41 pm #66846russjncoParticipantDefinitely interested, would like to see some finalized rule sets before jumping in completely.
January 24, 2014 at 8:41 pm #66847Jon RomeneskoParticipantI’m calling myself committed. I don’t have an engine yet, but I do have the chassis, and i should be ready by the time the season starts. One entry initially, but I may have two later in the year depending on how things go; my Wife wants to race, too!
Looks like TTAC just confirmed the class, so that’s great news!

:coJanuary 26, 2014 at 8:41 pm #66850David WatkinsParticipantI’m very excited as well but still concerned about weight. Does anybody know what a 206 kart weighs?
January 27, 2014 at 9:22 pm #66851richardhensleyParticipantDavid,
When I get home this weekend, I will throw one of my karts on a scale. Let’s just say they weight a lot less than my rotax. I’m guessing 150.
January 28, 2014 at 7:33 pm #66852Greg WelchParticipantMy clone weighed in at 145 with a few inches of fuel.
Its on a pretty light chassis, I expect more of them to weigh +10-15 versus that.
206 and clone are same weight.
January 29, 2014 at 4:15 pm #66853richardhensleyParticipantDavid,
Greg got your weight question answered.
Did you see the post from The Track about the classes?
If you have any more questions, please post them here.
