ParticipantGreg,
Weight handicap or use an exhaust or intake restrictor on the Mod.Animal and then run it with the World Formula as one four cycle senior class….you then have the best of both worlds in one class. One engine package for the guy that likes to tinker and one for the guy who wants reasonable performance, reliability, reasonable cost and is on a budget. Level the playing field for the World Formula.
The clutter I was talking about was the other engines currently allowed in a class that aren’t competitive with the Mod Animal & World Formula…..drop the stockers, limited mods, Blue Wazooms. This will also reduce the tech time and headaches.September 20, 2004 at 9:07 pm #48405Greg Johnson
ParticipantGeorge. Why on earth would someone build a Lim. Mod. Animal and then choke it down to compete with a slower engine. This is not a Tag class. Heck, a stock Animal on Meth can outgun a WF. ( Really!!)This is an adult class. We dont do restrictors . . Lim. Mod Animals out number the WF 3-1.Seems to me like the WF is the odd one out.In fact the WF guys I race with are switching to Lim. Mod. Animals next season so they can compete. They quickly found out that more HP out weighs an electric start.

ParticipantGreg,
I thought the purpose of the CSC Senior 4 cycle class was to lump all of the five or six engines listed in to one class and then weight handicap to achieve a competitve balance. Its obvious that that didn’t work because you had at least three racers that believed the WF would be competitive with the L.M.Animal with a weight handicap.
The limited mod Animal is just like any other over built 4 cycle; fast, expensive and unreliable. The limited mod Animal will just result in fewer racers in the Senior 4 cycle class because of cost and unreliablity. Please understand I am an old four cycle racer and have had considerable experience so this isn’t meant as a put down…..
If it is just about going fast and not about racing and competition why not invest in a TaG or shifter? You can have a Rotax or Leopard for the cost of the two or three L.M. Animals that you will waste in one season.September 21, 2004 at 2:01 pm #48407Greg Johnson
ParticipantGeorge, Sorry to say , but your dead wrong. The Lim. Mod . Animal is here to stay. Even WKA was smart enough to join the club. It will now be a National Class. This was the first year of the WF and nobody knew it would be as lathargic as it turned out. It needs its own class, but you cant do that because there are so few of them. How many WF race your track? I think you need to put your personal prefrences aside, and let the racers decide. You just might get a good turn out.

Participant“If it is just about going fast and not about racing and competition why not invest in a TaG or shifter?”
What the heck does that mean?
Tag and shifter doesn’t have racing and competition?
So if I wanted more reliability I should buy an ICC shifter??“The limited mod Animal will just result in fewer racers in the Senior 4 cycle class because of cost and unreliablity.”
There is all ready just a hand full of 4 stroke adult racers, how can there be fewer?
The main reason the four stroke adult class was lumped into one class was to let all us “left over karters” still participate in the SCS events, and to not take up too much of the race day with 3 classes of 4 strokes with 2 people in each class.
The WF motor was put into the class only because it was the only class.
Last year was the first full year for these motors and it was a learning year for booth motors.
One class for all four cycles will never have an even playing field.
Next year will be very similair. Most the new four strokers from this year will buy into the TAG program because that is the most popular class and best supported by shops here in Colorado.
George, even in your post you only step on the WF to promote TAG.
The playing field is even in four stroke racing. If you want to race a WF race other WF’s if you want to race an animal mod you better have an animal mod. I wouldn’t expect a pro shifter to install a restictor to race against stock shifters.
Tech time and headaches? When was the last time a four stroke motor got teched in Colorado? The reason we left the flatheads in the class was, again, so that all us left over karters/motors could come out and play. - AuthorPosts
