InactiveHaving briefly reviewed the WKA Sprint rules I would like to point out some major differences relative to the IKF rules we used previously. These are all for the Gold Cup (4-cycle Sprint) as we do not have a non-TAG 2 cycle class (except Kid Kart).
The CIK nose is illegal.
The flat panel side bodywork is legal (it is what they run).
50″ max width (all classes).
The belly pan can extend to behind the rear axle.
5 & 6″ diameter wheels allowed
No Cadet chassis allowed.
Both the Junior classes, ages 8-10 and 10-12, require a 5.50 Rear tire
There is no Modified Animal spec, they only have a “Stock spec”.Also, if we allow the Comer80 in our Junior class, there is a whole different WKA section for that: the Manufacturers cup. Unlike the Gold Cup, the Manufacturers Cup is much more like the IKF rules, requiring CIK noses and side pods, allowing 55″ width, Cadet chassis and 4.50 tires for the Juniors, etc.
Which rules do we use for race procedure, protest and the like, SKUSA, WKA, or do we use both (like we will for the Tech rules).
I have not found a way to download these rules. However, they can be purchased on their website.
The bottom line is that the WKA Manufacturers cup is very different from the IKF /SKUSA rules to which we are accustomed. Is this really what we want?

ParticipantRod,
Both WKA and IKF allow for local option. One of the problems as I see it is that Colorado has (in the 7 years I have been here) always done its on thing. Coming from racing in the west and mid west with IKF and WKA rules, classes and event operations where well established and easy to understand (at least for me).
I like sanctioned programs, I know what is expected of the officals and of myself as an competitor.
The other problem I have is just using someones rules and not be willing to pay for them. I work for SCCA Pro Racing we spend over 4 months and over 50K to put our Pro rule book out each year plus printing which is another 4K. WKA, SKUSA, IKF spend thousands of hours and dollars to put there books together and keep them updated, the least we could do is support there efforts.
Just my opinion

We chose the WKA book primarly for the engine rules and any one can buy their rule book. If we wanted to use IKF rule book, we would be requiring everyone to join, some thing we did not want to do. Most of hte items you bring up revolve around the body/chassis and not the motor.
The body/chassis stuff will follow the same basic stuff we have always followed, run what ya brung. We have always allowed the full body work (no longer allowed by IKF and the CIK stuff. We have always gone by the 55″ width, even though both you and I know that may not be how wide you want to run and we have always allowed what ever tire they want on the rear. If those guys who run 7.1 width on a junior 1 haven’t figgured out that is too much tire, well, we need to let them know they could be faster if they went narrower.
We are outlaws here, always have been, always will be. It’s still the wild west!
